I think You're right, I think we make a mistake looking only at candidates and not include the people they represent. People will support the person who is the most vocal, aggressive and effective in projecting their agenda. Putting a liberal in uniform is always a big plus in dragging along any independents and moderates on the other side. Am sure Hawaii is quite liberal but that factor of five is enhanced by more then a few moderate conservatives who see the uniform and her continued service. It plays real welll with career minded women as well regardless of political persuasion. She appears to have a lot of bases covered with her electorate.
Praise Jesus for that . Oddly enough - it is the religious right that are some of the biggest warmongers in this nation.
The RP/DP establishments is very pro-war. I do not follow religious right politics closely, but the religious working class that has supported and participated in US war for generations is now very aware of the endless war scam They support Trump's troop draw downs.
We can hope. The 18 year escapade in Afghanistan has been a complete waste of money and lives. Arming and supporting Al Qaeda and others of the same extremist Islamist ilk to fight a proxy war in Syria will be regarded as one of the most heinous and evil US actions in history.
Big Government always has a built in bias for war. Gabbard would gain traction in a hurry if she went full rogue and proposed shrinking the size and power of the USG bureaucracy to provide more direct benefits to the working class. But then her staff would probably quit.
Democrats have learned the hard way that their preferences have no role in the selection of DP presidential candidates.
Shrinking the size of the govt has long been the mantra of the right. Here is the truth. “As of September, and before the government shutdown, federal offices employed 2,723,000 individuals—the lowest figure on record since 1966, when there were 2,721,000 employees.” In other words, the federal govt non military size has not grown.
She is a rep from a small state, she has 12 months to develop a following. She spoke on CNN townhall tonite and she will continue
She's a socialist gun grabber. But she called gay marriage proponents 'extremist' some years back, so shes a no go anyway.
Good.....as you see so far. Its not the Repubs dumping on her. Just other leftists. Hopefully she will get aggressive with the other Demo snowflakes.
Yeoooow! She is such a Fox. Intelligent, articulate, feminine women are just so much more attractive than purple haired radicals and blonde haired plastics. If the people of Venezuela decide it is necessary they can drag Maduro out and shoot him and his wife against a wall like the Romanians did. If not so be it, no skin off my back. Regime change demonstrably does not work. I'd honestly prefer if we just formally declared war, invaded, shot anyone affiliated with the government, suppressed dissent, and annexed the land. But that would disrupt the perpetual war the military industrial complex needs to sustain itself. We're at a point where old style war hawks are legit preferable to these asshats. At least General Sherman was open about his aims.
Uh oh......Gabbard just made a big mistake. Excuses Everywhere: Tulsi Gabbard Has a Sorry Explanation For Ilhan Omar's Anti-Semitic Comments She would get more attention by sticking with the truth and call out Omar for being Anti Semitic.
Gabbard did speak the Truth. Omar claiming that AIPAC is a potent lobbyist group funded by big dollars "benjamins" is the Truth. AIPAC is famous for claiming that anyone critical of Israeli's actions towards the Palestinians is "anti semetic". What Ilhan Omar Said About AIPAC Was Right https://www.thenation.com/article/ady-barkan-aipac-ilhan-omar/
Omar was stating US politicians have a dual loyalty. That they put another country first over the US. That was her point. Oh and it was the Demos sounding off and going after her for that remark. Hence the Demos and their toothless resolution. Ilhan Omar's Dual-Loyalty Charge Was Anti-Semitic - The ... The Atlantic 4 days ago · And Israeli women can drive—just as badly as the rest of the population. Steven Waldman: The ugly history of dual-loyalty charges. I don't think she has anything to fear from the left side of the isle, It is the corporate news on the left that will attempt to keep the money flowing to the Military complex and health insurance companies. Cnn was a joke how they planted party Dems in the town Hall to ask questions. "But what about the people who would lose their jobs in MFA"
Why would it, what politician did not? Even Hillary and Oboma were more to the right on gays thans he was. and she was what 21 Years old then and a city councilmen, After she served with gays in the army she realized they are just like the rest of us, except who they choose to sleep with.
I agree with her 100% on this. Israel has too much influence on the US foreign policy for a nation of its size. People try to equate criticizing the government of Israel with wishing jews harmed. The same can be said of Iran, You speak to Iranian refugees they like americans, They don't like that we overthrew their government, but the common people want to be friends with us, It is the ruling class that has the hatred for us. You can hate a goverment and not hate the people of a country. damm, just look at the hate of trump and Oboma to see it in our own country.
who cares about a poll 1 year before the primary? She has plenty of time to get her message out. Less and less people get all thier news from corporate media and more and more from online sources. she has the signatures and the 65,000 donations to get on the stage.
It will be very difficult for Gabbard to win the DP nomination while the DNC and the MSM oppose her. The DP nomination process is rigged. Just ask Donna Brazile.
It makes it more difficult but not insurmountable. The repubs did not want Trump, the Dems did not want Carter.
All anti-establishment candidates will be able to tap into the now nearly universal contempt that Americans have for the corrupt bipartisan ruling political class.
