But the popular vote coincided with the EC vote most of the time until Bush2. And until about a year ago more than 50% of the right wanted to end the EC.

It is interesting that you seem to think that anybody that does not conform to your beliefs is "defending Trump". Is this a "if you aren't with us, you are against us" thing? I do not think I have really defended him once. However, I am defending the exiting method this country uses to select our President.

How is this circumventing the Constitution? So far as I know, it is up to each state to decide how their electoral votes are determined.

I voted for Trump but have voted since JFK I voted for him as a Democrat. I voted for Trump.

Did i change or has the Democrats changed?

    OK, one at a time.
Democrats lied their asses off by saying they were why the civil rights law passed. That is so much bull poppy it is not even funny. They fought that law very hard. They mounted the filibuster to stop it.

We republicans forced it to be passed.

Democrats were so against it, they formed the Dixiecrat party in 1948 over that issue. It disbanded as the election ended and they stuck it out with Truman. They were such a huge pain to truman the paper said Truman lost the election. Only to retract that claim and explain he did win.

Yes. The Constitution is a thing which exists. Do you have any non-rhetorical questions?

Never seen any report that has suggested 50% of the Right wants to end the EC.

But nothing. Popular vote is merely a side show and a straw man constructed by those that don't like the fact that they lost an election by the same rules that all Presidential elections have been handled for the last 200 odd years or so.

Electoral College is not going away and popular vote means nothing.

I never said nor implied that. Why do you have such great difficulty replying to what was posted?

Your reply "ignorant people are posted all the time" was a rather interesting reply in that it seems to be a sort of "last ditch" effort to deflect, and especially lame.

The Constitution actually provides for the states to decide how to apply their votes.

Republicans wanted the popular vote and an end to the EC until about 5 years ago. Now they talk like the EC has always been the only acceptable system for them.

The issue is the modern era.

    History is entertaining, though.

Oh you never learned this country is a republic?

Let me give you some assistance.

    Why a republic?

    Because we have 50 states.

    So what?

States are each a compete government.

It resembles the EU in that respect. Each state very like a country.

    Really?

Yes, each has a leader named as the Governor
He has the authority of law
    So what?
    He also has a congress
    See it now?

    What about courts?
At last you may catch on.

Yes the state has all kinds of courts. Such as community courts, courts of the county and state courts. And guess what else?

Every state has a supreme court.

As you now learned, each state amounts to what is called by most people, a country.

Our founders called them sovereign states.

EC as I said, I suspect one can call for 1 state and 1 vote and find a lot more in agreement than asking the dummies of this land to each vote. A good many of them flat refuse to vote. Then what do you do?

If one were to read the arguments that took place during the Constitutional Convention that established the Electoral College, the purpose becomes very clear and understandable.

The EC has served the country well, and will continue to do so long into the future, if the sore losers are kept at bay and ignored.

It's all great when your side has the most voters until they don't.
