Bwahahaha! That's funny. Liberals support the end run around the constitution with the National Popular Vote. They supported Obama's unconstitutional Pen and Phone DACA.
As soon as something goes to market, competitors are capable of buying the product, dissecting it, and copying it without any costs. We are in disagreement. My business is design based and we spend an incredible amount of resources producing our product. Somebody else is capable of doing the same, but just stealing ours and reselling it is wrong.
When my ideas are how I make revenue, they are in fact taken from me when copied and used as a mechanism to gain revenue by another party. Do you think that somebody should be able to us a song, created and made by a musical artist, for a profit purpose without paying for that artist's creativity?
Is it ok to take something somebody built? Say you build a chair. Can I just come take it? You still remember the work you put into it, right?
Not only are police often stupid - this conversation is borderline stupid as well - on both sides. Anyone who has worked at a job that entails dealing with the public will tell you that the raging masses are a sorry lot. They are nasty, petty, arrogant, self serving and often really dumb. Police are people - what can we say. Whats more is that when you give a dumb person power - power corrupts and more power corrupts more. The idea that the Police are on some pillar of moral integrity - the bad ones being just a few "bad apples" - is complete nonsense. Nor does this mean all police are bad .. it is what it is. That Trump is "thuggish" is what it is. He was like that prior to getting into office and it has continued. For those that want people not to compare to "Obama" ... too bad. Obama was perhaps even more thuggish - he just hid it better.
Nobody can deprive you of an idea in your head. Someone can, however, deprive you of a chair you built, by stealing it from you. See the difference?
No. Because once that idea in my head becomes something.... music, a new product, a piece of art... it is owned just like your chair.
I agree. A painting you create is certainly your property. However, if someone were to make their own painting that was like yours they wouldn't be taking anything from you. You still have your piece of art you created.
Ok. We will just have to agree to disagree. If I spend 100k making a new product, and start to sell it and you copy it exactly and charge half what I charge, then what's the point of being innovative. Nobody will create anything, because they could never profit from it. How you dont see that is beyond me, but alright.
So the very first day your start selling your new product, how am I supposed to have reverse-engineered it, set up a manufacturing facility, set up a distribution channel, and get my knock-off product in the stores for sale on that same day, or in the same month, or year?
Payoff on innovative products for R&D could be years if not decades. This happens all the time. Not sure how you cant see that it's a losing proposition for innovators and creators without some protection.
Congress will keep him in check; they could impeach him if they determine his actions are unconstitutional.
Small company decides to produce a mobile phone. It hits the market and Apple slaps them with a patent infringement lawsuit. Small company goes out of business. Innovation and competition stifled.
If they copied apples iPhone, then they didn't innovate anything. They stole it. If the phone was different than the iPhone, then the lawsuit wouldn't hold up. Stealing somebody else's concept and/or design is not being "innovative".
I didn't say they stole anyone's design. I said that they produced an innovative smart phone and Apple sued them for copyright infringement. Maybe the lawsuit won't hold up, but the business will be bankrupted trying to defend itself against Apple. The result is that competition and innovation are stifled.
Ok, that is a valid point. We actually agree there. That is a problem with our civic judicial system though, not intellectual property. I believe that if you sue somebody, and you lose, you have to pay the "damages" you claimed. Tort law in the US, and many civil cases utilize our legal system inappropriately. Let's fix that.
