I was once accused of virtue signaling for stating that one should never resort to violence so I acknowledge that there are things (such as Jews fighting Nazis in WW2 Germany) that can require it. So now I write it is a last resort.
Mueller was playing a dirty little game by throwing the gullibles a bone he thought they might chew on, something that they could point to in an attempt to justify the beliefs they've carrying around since Trump was elected. All thinking adults know this is going nowhere, that the investigation has now entered a far different phase - but what to do with the gullibles, those Hillary supporters who absolutely believed she must have been cheated, that Donald Trump went from becoming one of the best known people in the United States to becoming an international spy and a partner of Vladimir Putin? That is the bone Mueller threw them. The base needed something to cling to and he gave it to them. Their conspiracy theories can now continue, and they will, and those who tried to expose Trump by whatever means necessary, even illegally, will remain heroic figures.
The intellectual weaklings will continue to parrot this Black/White issue when it should not even be an issue. Jussie Smollett behaved badly not because he was Black but because he was an egoist (in my opinion) and felt he could get a sympathetic ear from a well rehearsed audience. And in the world he lives in his belief was justified. But there's another world he didn't really know much about, which doesn't recognize Black and White in the same way he does, and that's the rule of law. Jussie Smollett is a despicable little man, but they come in all sizes, shapes and colors.
Good point, but the haters are often protesting against those who do want an equal voice. However the social tide may finally be turning.
I mean, that's kind of self defense. It's not the initiation of violence. I suppose that depends on when violent resistence against the Nazi government became justifiable. I'd say after the Night of Long Knives. A bunch of extrajudicial killings. So in that sense it'd be retaliatory not just "these peopoe are far right let's kill them"
If that is true, then you have no troubles with the liberal Democrats for what conservative Democrats did about slavery and segregation. After all that was only 60 to a couple of hundred years ago.
The son is not responsible for the sins of the father. This is a core tenant of Western justice. I am well aware of the political history of the US and the Democratic party, and I agree that ye olde Democrats were a different breed. In a lot of ways worse, in some better. I find it absolutely ridiculous that Republicans of today have any respect at all for the wage slavery touting, Federal government worshipping sort of Lincoln's age.
I agree that Lincoln's age of the new GOP were Big Government types for the day. They still are Progressive Big Government types today, of course: opposition to abortion, opposition to LGBTQ marriage, opposition to LGBTQ as adoptive parents, supporters of massive deficits, and massive support for the Military-Industrial complex, etc.
The most vocal are sometimes the most rabid in their attempt at suppressing the speech of others. This may very well be due to the weakness of their argument. Emotional responses can be theatrically entertaining but diminish the critical thinking debate venue.
If we are talking the verbosity of "the most vocal," watch the very conservative and Trump posters here.
But that's not the rule of law, that's bending the law, or breaking it, depending on the amount of money you have, influence and connections. That's what happened in this Smollett case but the bending of the law is being lauded by those who would be most affected by an unequal justice system. The rich, powerful and well connected will be smiling knowingly to each other while having a quiet cocktail together and the poor, the most affected when the law is bent, will be celebrating because 'their side' won. But as Chris Rock asked when OJ was acquitted, "What the **** did we win?"
The Democrats have a horrible history and anyone who belongs to the party today should be made aware of that.
We're writing our responses - not shouting them, chanting them, denying entry to the forum or damaging property, setting fires, or in any way threatening violence. All you need do is defend your ideas and, as you do, some agreed upon truths may emerge.
I'm glad that in this case we have the spotlight on this to see the corruption, but in most cases of random rich dudes and companies it is not. Prosecutors do favours, connected people introduce a personal bias, etc.
Right, but the good fight, as is beginning in Chicago, must go on. It's always an ongoing struggle to maintain honesty and integrity in a democracy, and the corrupt will always be supported for short term gain, or simply believe that the ends justify the means.
As does the GOP. I agree the voter should be aware of the history, and that today the Dems are liberal and the GOP is supposedly conservative. In fact, they are both Big Government Progressive parties out to hold power anyway they can.
The distinction would be this, in my opinion, the Cook County state attorney believed that the citizen is guilty of the charge. This would mean every element of the crime charged were present. In the case brought against the President the elements of any criminal act must have been lacking or the prosecutor would have presented the charge. In addition, another distinction, Mr. Smollett is of favored and protected classes. President Trump is a member of targeted classes. CBS news report cited follows below https://www.cbsnews.com/news/jussie...nds-her-departments-decision-to-drop-charges/ Excerp from news report; "If your own prosecutor told us that he believes Mr. Smollett is guilty, why not get that guilty plea from him as part of this deal?" CBS News' Adriana Diaz asked."
Anyone else see a correlation between Jussie not paying for his crimes, and rich people buying their kids Ivy League college degrees?
Mr. Smollett, believing himself an innocent man, should sue Chicago for what he obviously sees as a travesty of justice. Mr Smollett reported he was attacked by two (white?) men with RED MAGA hats, informing Mr. Jussie, during the battery, that this is MAGA country. It now appears that the Chicago PD has stopped looking for the men who perpetrated this HATE crime entirely. This is a very shocking and confusing development for Mr. Jussie and his sympathizers.
