Eventually the whole thing is going to break down into violence. Not a question of if, but when. "Crisis" is a tool for tyrants - a tool to manipulate the masses and secure more governmental power over a society. For the past 30 years I've figured the collapse would come between 2020-2030. Maybe closer to 2030, but certainly not beyond that.
Please there is nothing that is going on now that anyone remotely thinks is going to lead to violence on the scale of the1960s. This is all peace and kumbaya compared to the US that I grew up in. Where are the lynchings, the firebombing of Churches, the beating of thousands of marchers in the streets, the whole scale burnings of whole cities and the death of hundreds of rioters and police. People get all riled up when Black lives matter protests result in a police car burning. Not Detroit or Watts or 20 other places whole city districts were up in flames and 50 killed by police and 5 cops dead in one event. Armed troops patrolling city streets, The presidents sending in troops so kids could go to school.
Nobody hates democracy and freedom more than con artists; right-wing socialists support the redistribution of wealth and political power into the hands of a few plutocrats.
Economic collapse will result in "peace and kumbaya"?? Americans are weak and morally bankrupt. Jeez, Donald Trump wins an election and you mob riot and break windows for weeks. Not to mention fabricate endless tales of corruption and collusion. What are you gonna do when they cut your money off?? $23 Trillion in debt... well over $30 Trillion by 2030. Economic collapse is inevitable.
Informed and educated people hate democracy. Just as America's Founders hated democracy. History shows very clearly what democracy is, and how it always ends. As James Madison, Father of Our Constitution wrote in Federalist #10, "... democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention, and have been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths". Guess you, and all Democrats, never learned that lesson from history, huh??
I'm not a democrat nor a republican. But at this point in time I know I won't be voting for Trump, Warren or Harris. Against Trump, Biden, Hickenlooper or Klobuchar if nominated would be sure to get my vote. Some of the rest are iffy, but still in the running as I see how all of this plays out and I learn more about the rest. In 2016 I voted third party, against both Trump and Clinton as did 9 million other Americans. As I see it, the ball is in the Democrats court whether or not they get my vote. Candidates matter to me, so I'll just wait and see whom they nominate.
More pile-on of critical Democrats addressing Biden's 'touchy/ feely" hands around young women. Biden looks less viable day by day.
Yeah I don't know if the claims against are credible. And they should be thoroughly investigated before anybody jumps to any conclusion. But the court of public opinion is cruel and Swift, and often only interested in politics and not truth or Justice. If Biden didn't do what he is accused of I truly have sympathy for him.
Biden's looking like he's not going to make it. After this accusation popped up. So at this point I think it's anyone's game.
I think it always has been anyone's game. Biden is attractive to the independent voter, but I'm not sure how he would have played in the Democratic primaries. He probably wasn't far left enough. Hillary played great in the Democratic primaries winning 60% of their votes, but lost the independent voter. Gore and Kerry also overwhelmingly won in the Democratic primaries only to lose the independents in the general and the election. Being an overwhelming choice of either party in the primaries doesn't necessarily translate out to winning independents. What is attractive to the hard core Republican and Democratic voters in their primaries isn't always attractive to independents.
My money? I am all set. son of immigrants I saved 10 cents of every dollar I earned. Not rich or even what some might call comfortable but all set for the last 1/4 of my life. You don't know what a riot is unless you see the summer of 68. Don't tell me about being morally corrupt when I am the one that came back from Nam and was called a baby killer in Logan airport. Who spent trillions of dollars in the middle east over that last 18 years leaving a trail of death across 4 countries in the name of democracy while the only ones who benefitted are the multinational oil and munition dealers and you say I am morally bankrupt? Yeah go ahead and say the americans that want Medicare for all are corrupt.
It isn't just that he is not far enough left but he like clinton and Oboma talk one game and say another. He is just another Wall street - US as the world policeman democrat. You cant spend trillions in the mid east and have money for people here.
That's pretty much any politician. Saying one thing and doing another. If you go back through history you'll find out when it comes to war resolutions that when the president is a republican, republicans vote mostly in favor, Democrats against. When a president is a democrats, the opposite happens, most democrats vote in favor, most republicans against. Obama bypassed congress altogether when it came to Libya, getting just a UN resolution. Both parties get their tens of millions of dollars from corporations, wall street firms, lobbyists, special interests, mega money donors. You can't expect them to bite the hand that feeds them. Sure some will rant and rave against Wall Street and or corporations, but they do so with a wink and a nudge.
The woman isn't Lucy Flores in the photo but rather the wife of the then secretary of defense, Ashton Carter. The look on the face of the woman doesn't suggest that she is enjoying the physical attention of Biden.
Of course the people are corrupt. They vote for corrupt people in an idiotic 2 party system, and then assuage their conscience by saying their guy is either less corrupt than the other guy; or, they cheer as "their guy" forcibly takes from some other citizen to give to them. Throw on top of that the fact that none of it is Constitutional, i.e. it is, in fact, illegal - and you want to wink at posterity and the law as if your piety is a given?? And I've got news for ya on the economic collapse front - it doesn't matter if you think yourself "set up", when the S#/+ hits the fan, everyone suffers - except those at the very top. The Money Trust deliberately crashed the stock market in 1929, and artificially created the Depression. And they're going to do it again. It makes sense for them to do it again. You should try cracking a history book or two... not everyone suffers and goes bust in "collapses".
Biden. Because we need a return an experienced leader with a fair mind to unravel, re-right what is occurring now.
Which will never pass here but if you want to tax consumption then pass FAIR tax not a complicated VAT tax. But then want is the economic sense of giving people "free money" when the people supplying "free" money will only raise prices to recoup it and the tax alone will increase prices. I followed the link and nowhere does he explain where he came up With 10% VAT will fund a $1,000 a month for every adult.
The VAT tax would supply us with $800 billion. Which is partial funding but not all of it. Another way to reduce costs of a UBI is to make people choose between their current welfare spending and the UBI. Either/or but not both.
Oh and cutting off the UBI when you reach 65 years old, which means seniors will be on Social Security. So, I hope they've worked and earned their work credits.
Says who? And there were 252,000,000 over the age of 18 in 2017. Your $800B number would only mean a UBI of $3174.60 annually, it would take 4 times that amount. And it is to be on top of current income which means on top of SS.
