Enjoy your years. I'm almost 78. I told a friend of mine that" it's hell getting old". He told me "Enjoy it, it doesn't last long". If Trump loses this time it will be because he really stepped on his crank with his rehashing about McCain. I never liked McCain either but you need to let the dead rest.
Yea, the attacks on McCain really just do not make any sense. Especially for a President. Just let the dead man, and his family, rest in peace.
Yep I have voted Libertarian every election since old Bill, but I dont know if I could risk that concerning what would be at stake. For once the lessor of two evils would be just good enough.
I disagree. Trump is an incorrigible liar. He simply makes things up as he goes along. In real estate that might be OK, but as the President of the U.S., it's not. He has treated our closest allies like diseased organisms, and our enemies--especially Russia--as trusted friends. He demeans everyone he disagrees with, treating them as sub-human, and he loves conflict--even creating it when it's absent. He refuses to listen to experts far smarter than himself, and continues to live the shallow promise of his campaign, "Only I can do it." Until Trump, America never elected a cult leader type for President. 2016 stands as a blinding example of democratic stupidity in its selection of this super-arrogant, self-promoting, selfish, extremely ignorant billionaire. Pity America if she decides to lengthen his stay.
Possibly, you have to wonder if the GOP's collapse equates to a Trump collapse as he seems bigger than the party itself?
Ultimately this doesn't have much to do with Trump. Demography is destiny so in the long run, yeah, Democrats will eventually achieve a more or less permanent lock on the Presidency as the country more and more begins to resemble California. But there are a lot of twists and turns before we get there. The current turn of the Democratic Party towards insanity is one of them. It's highly possible you guys will take a can't lose election and totally blow it. Just like you did in 2016.
The Dems did pretty well in the mid terms and if they nominate a better candidate in 2000 they have a pretty good shot. A year and a half is an eternity in politics and Trump has a habit of sticking his foot in his mouth. Also, several federal and state investigations are still active. I would not be too cocky if I were a member of either party at this point.
I see Trump and the republicans remaining strong in all the traditional Republican states but AZ. Trumps difficulty will be holding on to Michigan, PA and Wisconsin from 2016. GA depends on getting out the vote. With Georgia being forced by a federal judge to change their voting laws it might be in play depending on the candidate.
Financial Reparations don't sit well with me either. There were 3.2 mill slaves in 1850 there are 39 mill black or mixed race now. you don't reward 39 mill for the suffering borne by 3.2 mill. To me it is like being wrongfully convicted of a crime and imprisoned so there is recompense due to those 3.2 mill.
I haven't seen any Democrats out there that fits the bill to be President. Enlighten me if you wish. Most of our closest allies use us for military protection and besides not forking over their fair share of the cost it is our soldiers who are sacrificing their lives. They take our aid and then like to bad mouth us. With friends like that who needs enemies? What is wrong trying to get along and ease tensions with Russia (Trump has been extremely tough on Russia) , North Korea ( Haven't seen any missiles fired at Japan or Guam lately) Remember ISIS? What happened to that Caliphate? Trump destroyed that dream in two years. Meanwhile here we are still in Afghanistan, Bush and Obamas war, after 17 years. Trump wants to pull the troops out of Syria and Iraq and the military machine goes nuts. When you have a Party of "No" to anything Trump and you have a bunch of "back-stabbing" RINOS it is pretty much him fighting the fight himself. That's why his base is still around 85% with him. Super-arrogant? I like to think it is "stick it in your eye" politics. He is the first Republican in a long time who refuse to roll over to the truly arrogant Democrats like Schumer, Pelosi, and Adam "pencil neck" Shiffhead. Self promoting? - The "deep state" and media have run an average of 3 minutes of bad news on Trump ever since his campaign began. If they won't tell the whole story including his accomplishments, he will. Selfish - He has donated his salary as President every quarter since he has been in office to different groups of our government. Extremely ignorant - 17 other Republican candidates, liberal media outlets and Hillary all thought the same thing.
Trump didn't run to please historians, he ran to please the forgotten man; the working middle class of middle America.
1. Based on your post above, I rather think the values you & I place on determining who would be a good President, are vastly different. Yes, I DO feel several Democratic candidates would make a fine President. 2. First, as your post clearly demonstrates, it isn't just our allies who like to badmouth friends. You are doing a pretty good job of that yourself. Second, whether we paid more money for the decades long peace in Europe--the longest period of peace in its history--is NOT an issue. It was a great investment, and it gave us exactly what we & they wanted--PEACE. You ask, "With friends like that, who needs enemies?" You ignore the fact that in the 74 years since the end of WWII, not one of those friends has ever attacked us. The truth is, in many tense situations, they have sent their troops to join ours & help us--and often losing some of those troops lives in the process. Your post sounds like you measure the value of friends based on how much they are willing to spend to "buy" your friendship. From my point of view, such friends are mercenaries, & not to be trusted as friends. 3. There is absolutely nothing wrong with trying to get along with our adversaries. We should put a great deal of effort into doing just that. But Trump goes beyond just trying. He publicly supports Putin's claim of no Russian interference in our 2016 elections, while every professional intelligence source in America is in agreement that Russia did. Trump defends a Russian dictator and denounces our own American intelligence professionals, and does that with other adversaries as well. America is supposed to be a republic, where Americans work together cooperatively for the benefit of the nation. How can a President of that nation be regarded in complementary, positive terms when he consistently disregards & disrespects those in our government whose whole life has been dedicated to serving our nation & its Presidents? Which begs the question, how can you? 4. Not lately, but I predict soon. 5. ISIS is easy to remember & hard to forget. The Caliphate has been defeated for now, but the religious zeal that gave it birth is still strong in the region. Trump inherited a war against ISIS that was already 3/4th finished. The military under Trump finished that last fourth, for now. But if Trump withdraws the military from the region too quickly, he'll create a political/military vacuum that ISIS will be anxious to refill. 6. Afghanistan has been & remains frustrating, with victory in any acceptable sense, highly illusive. That's not surprising, since no nation has ever been able to "conquer" Afghanistan. It seems immune to outside pressures regardless of their source. The problem is, the very same Taliban who rule Afghanistan when the U.S. attacked, are now close to re-assuming control of the country once the U.S. leaves. If that happens, everything America invested in changing Afghanistan, in money, military conflicts, & lives lost, will have been a total waste, for nothing will have changed. Afghanistan will again pose a terrorist threat toward the West. There's more at stake here than simply ending a war. 7. The military machine goes nuts because they know when they leave Syria & Iraq, they create a vacuum for ISIS to reclaim & grow. How long will our peace or even peace of mind last then? 8. Trump's base seems to share Trump's enthusiasm for despotic rulers. Trump bragged "only I can do it," but in America it's supposed to be "We can do it--together." Trump has repeatedly demonstrated his inability to work well with others. Trump likes to be in control, but doesn't honor or tolerate effective leadership in others around him. As a republic & partial democracy, America REQUIRES that leadership be shared. Trump doesn't share well. I gather that neither do his supporters, which concerns me, because if they support authoritarian leaders like Trump, then they automatically DON'T support democratic government. And that can be a problem. 9. There's an abundance of "arrogance" in your post here. You're being & doing EXACTLY what your're accusing the Democrats of doing. So, how are you or Trump an improvement? 10. First, what accomplishments? Second, Trump knows that ANY media coverage is better than no media coverage. He doesn't care whether it's good news or bad news, just so long as he's the news. I'm surprised you hadn't figured that out. Trump knows life gives you what you concentrate on. And the media certainly concentrated on Trump in 2016. It still does. That concentration helped Trump get elected. It mattered not at all whether the attention was positive or negative. The attention itself was enough. It's a lesson the media hasn't yet learned. 11. So he says. But, if he's been attending to new business while serving as President, then he's breaking the law, and endangering the nation. Why? Because Trump is first & foremost, a businessman. He values wealth above all else. And, as President, if he's closing a "great deal" that brings massive new wealth to his bank rolls, that will take precedence over how it will affect the nation. Trump is President of Trump Enterprises more than President of the U.S., and his decisions so far verify that fact. 12. The media & Hillary were both right. Trump is smart in real estate business, but totally ignorant in the knowledge & skills needed to be a good national leader. Everything he says & does is a testament to that fact.
Trump wouldn't know the middle class if it slapped him in the face. Trump has never had exposure to or relations with middle class Americans or anywhere else. How could anyone ever imagine Trump the born-rich billionaire could ever know or care anything about representing the middle class? Trump likes these "uneducated" voters for a reason.
Sort of a political obituary for the Democratic Partie's current front runner, creepy old Joe: https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/joe-biden-democratic-party-2020-presidential-candidacy/ . You cannot beat someone with nobody. No matter what a poll says about Trump, if you put up this "handsy" lout, I think Trump wins. Go Tulsi!
LOL, on average Obama only rates higher than Truman, Ford, and Carter. Trump will have to work hard to get that low.
Yeah sure. More jobs, higher wages, lower taxes, less unemployment, a booming economy, a strong stock market; that's gotta be pretty tough on the middle class. Trump is such a failure.
