What President Carter has to say is the end all be all on the subject of Jesus and homosexuality. Any who disagree are probably religiously more in line with Islam than Christianity.
For some, you're not a "true" Christian if you don't hate someone - Mormons, gays, Mexicans, uppity women ... always someone to blame ...
Many of the 'haters' falsify Christ and say instead 'hate the sin not the sinner,' as if Jesus has judged the sinner. Let's point out many non-Christians as well as free thinkers and sceptics can hate with vigor equal to some Christians.
"The first known appearance of the term homosexual in print is found in an 1869 German pamphlet 143 des Preussischen Strafgesetzbuchs und seine Aufrechterhaltung als 152 des Entwurfs eines Strafgesetzbuchs für den Norddeutschen Bund ("Paragraph 143 of the Prussian Penal Code and Its Maintenance as Paragraph 152 of the Draft of a Penal Code for the North German Confederation"). The pamphlet was written by Karl-Maria Kertbeny, but published anonymously. It advocated the repeal of Prussia's sodomy laws." Wiki, The Terminology of Homosexuality Homosexual was not in the English language until some time later. So it wouldn't be expected that Bibles would use the term until they caught up to newer English usage, which happened in 1946 (Revised Standard Version). Although "homosexual" appears to be a Greek word at first glance it does not appear in the ancient Greek literature and in ancient Greek Bibles. It wasn't a Greek word back then. So definitely do not get your biblical knowledge from a politician. "The word “homosexual” while having Greek roots, did not exist in ancient Greece. “homosexual” was invented by a German who used Greek loan words. The word for homosexuals then [in ancient Greece] was “κίναιδος” this is the result of two root words κίνηση (transmit) and αιδωσ (shame)." https://www.quora.com/What-was-the-Ancient-Greek-attitude-towards-homosexuality
None of which, jay runner, Jimmy's point that Jesus did not condemn same sex relationships. The OT does not count, nor does Paul.
Rev. 22:15 Who are the kunes, that is, the dogs, who do not enter? That is Jesus speaking. If you want to change and modernize, I don't wish to hold you back. But I don't want to change and modernize.
Many Christians agree with President Carter and view homophobia as unChristian. I am a Catholic who has the highest regard for Lutherans in their application of the Gospel. Only a false Christian could hate these young women:
Jesus didn't write a single word in any of the Gospels either. Jesus didn't write anything that is extant or known. He only wrote in sand once, this also according to John.
Convenient for people who want to hate someone else for being different - they can apply their own logic to justify the hate.
Does not work, jay runner. All you have is John in a state of ecstasy saying that Jesus said something.
The early church said it what it said. So what? The church these days to a great extant says "so what"? You don't like it, so what? Go to a church you do like, and when OPs like this are posted and you oppose it, you will get "so what?"
Take away books, add books, rewrite the Bible, it's a free country and you can do that. Plus, nobody can stop you from doing that.
I learned so much from my childhood religious experience. As I grew older, the church became to embroiled in us-vs-them mentality, which turned me away. Now I can't even help package food at "Feed My Starving Children" without hearing some Bible-thumper at the end justify my efforts as a means to prove to some poorer nation that OUR God is greater than THEIR God.
More dumbness from Jimmy, Jesus' audience was mainly Jewish, so of course He didn't address homosexuality, or bestiality, or incest........Paul's audience was mainly gentile, so he DID address sodomy. In that pagan gentile world homosexuality was about as accepted as it is in pagan Western society today. Jesus would have said to a repentant homosexual the same thing He said to the woman caught in adultery, "Your sins are forgiven, go and sin no more."
What are you talking about? If you're referring to the gay agenda the three largest bodies in Christendom reject it, the Roman Catholic, the Orthodox and even the great majority of the 70,000,000 Anglican Communion. So do about 600,000,000 evangelicals in independent churches. Yes, dying churches preaching a false gospel love that stuff.
The Jews indeed had homosexuality. Only someone very ill thinks that homosexuals, anymore than heterosexuals, engage in bestiality. Only sick people think that way. The three cases of bestiality we handled when I was with the JAG involved heterosexuals who went to church. Don't put Paul above Jesus, my friends.
You use the word "excuse" as if to imply that I am not living up to some kind of standard, which sounds like a poor attempt at a judgment.
