The premise behind your narrative that " the U.S. thought of the fledgling Al Qaida as"freedom fighters" as long as they were fighting against the USSR yet now that they are fighting against the U.S. Washington thinks of them as "terrorists"" is blatantly inaccurate, ahistorical and false.
