Sane US officials close to US-Iran policy are warning that "human being" John Bolton ( Maddow) & co are trying to lie us into a disastrous war with Iran. Shouldve been obvious as soon as Bolton opened his mouth.
Maybe Trump is trying to negotiate a new deal... vis-a-vis the Chinese Trade War. Tighten the screws until the other party is ready to negotiate. Certainly the US is becoming increasingly embroiled in conflict around the world, Venezuela, Iran, North Korea, South China Sea, then there are the covert terror wars in South East Asia and Africa, stirring the pot in Eastern Europe...potential new conflict in the Arctic.. maybe down the track also the Antarctic, I'm sure I missed a few.. oh yes Afghanistan and Kashmir
What US Government official? Name names. Barring that, define government official? The lady answering calls at the SS office is a government official.
Gee, why does that sound familiar? Oh yes, the last time a Republican was in the WH we went through this.
The Trump administration is obviously lying about the "possible attack" on US forces. It's just more cooked up "intel" meant to justify yet another disastrous "regime change" war - Iraq war 2.0 If the Trump administration is really in possession of such intelligence, then let them bring it immediately to the congress so that it can be assessed by the representatives of the States and the people. If what they say is true, then there is no reason for them to withhold that information from the congress.
I think it is wise to be wary of unnamed sources, especially in an environment of polarisation ans division. I also think it's more likely that Bolton and Trump are exagurating legit intel than they're just bald facing it.
The reasons from the US to send troops to the Gulf is also totally unspecified with guesswork for everybody of what threat we're talking about. It's all about... do you believe the word of a politician about this?
I believe very little of what politicians or the media say. The only thing Iran says that I believe is that they hate us and Israel. I would prefer to see some proof of actual imminent threats from Iran. On the other hand, in the last several years, anonymous sources almost always turn out to be made up BS. If I was in government and saw an unjust war developing I’d be more than happy to go on record. But few in government have any principles anymore. They’d rather insinuate and take pots shots from dark corners. I can’t take an actual side on this issue because doing so with no actual information is dumb. But I am willing to call out a history of BS anonymous source ridiculousness we are treated to on a daily basis.
Yeah, I'm sure they'll take what they can find and blow it way out of proportion to achieve their goals. The reasons for war presented will never be the true reason When I look at everything happening around the globe, to me there are echos of WW1, it's almost as if what we are seeing is a reset, a territorial grab, similar to that period.. back then of course it revolved around petroleum.... and the threat Germany presented to British domination.
Likely Bibi is behind this move. Israel will provide some faked 'intelligence' against Iran so that its neocon puppets in Washington will attack Iran. Sounds like deja vu all over again, WMD and "Curveball" back in the days of the neocons controlling George Bush.
I think libs thought Netanyahu was a goner But apparently his policies are more popular than the lib media cares to admit
So it's okay for Trump and his administration to flout unproven allegations about a "possible" attack from Iran, based on evidence they won't share or subject to verification, but it's not okay to rely on unnamed sources to contradict Trump's unproven allegations. Fascinating.
Exaggerating intelligence is a form of lying in my book, especially when it concerns matters of war and peace. Naturally, I'm wary of unnamed sources, but I'm even more wary of the Trump administration throwing around unproven allegations about a "possible" attack from Iran. And given the man at the center of all this - John Bolton - I think it's fair to assume he's lying his ass off in order to create a pretext for war, just like he did in Iraq.
I'm not worried about Trump himself starting a war. I'm worried about Trump being too weak and stupid to stop his co-consuls - Bolton and Pompeo - from starting a war, which they clearly intend to do.
