https://www.oregonlive.com/portland...ear-parkrose-high-school-police-on-scene.html Today there was almost another school shooting, but the school's football coach tackled the shooter before he could get a shot off. A few weeks ago, in Colorado, a school shooter was also stopped by individuals attacking him. One of the heroes died, but the shooting came to a stop. Same as when the terrorist pulled out his gun in the train in France, the one they made the movie about. The NRA keeps telling us that the answer to shootings is more guns. But what if others did have guns, would it not just turn into a gun battle? The solution seems to be brave men willing to step up to the challenge, not more guns.
This is a joke, right? We can take away guns from cops and teach them how to wrestle. Hitting the tackling dummies should be required until hitting a tackling dummy kills someone at which point tacking a dummy becomes illegal.
The “good guy with a gun” is usually absent https://www.fbi.gov/file-repository/active-shooter-study-2000-2013-1.pdf
I've noticed that when any shooting occurs in which the shooter doesn't fit the Democrats narrative they either ignore the incident entirely or pivot to praise for someone who acted heroically.
What’s your point? Firemen are usually absent when fires start, that’s why we have fire extinguishers.
That was the nod. Also don't understand why that case is being sealed. Its not like media was going to cover it.
It keeps occurring to me that America's gun violence problem is, at its core, a manhood problem. One of the guys in Colorado said he wasn’t going to cower for shooters he repeatedly called cowards. Is that the problem, frustrated man with a gun and other frustrated men answering with guns. Perhaps the answer is more testicular men standing up, not only to the violence, but also the lobby that tells us guns are the answer.
Facepalm So now this all comes back to "toxic masculinity" ImNotOliver, I can tell you got a big drink from the koolaide. Where do you take in this stuff from? I bet CNN doesn't even truly believe half the stuff they say.
Estrogen will end up killing off Western civilization. Sometimes it takes some "testicular fortitude" to survive.
Are you calling the people in 4 of the world’s most dangerous cities, they being Detroit, New Orleans, Baltimore and St Louis, puzzies? Kinda racist is you ask me.
How dare you insult a Muslim. Now shut up and unfold your prayer rug. Barack Obama @BarackObama "We send our thoughts and prayers to all at the Navy Yard who've been touched by this tragedy." —President Obama https://mobile.twitter.com/barackobama/status/379689640115961856?lang=en
Good thing he wasn't an experienced shooter, he would have taken them all out before they got within 10 feet. Sounds more like luck to me.
Sadly for your "point", if CNN doesn't back up their claims with facts, they get in trouble. Even Fox News can't find a way to claim that un-firearmed good guys actually was saving bad guys with "invisible guns", or something. To clarify, Beating, raping, abusing people in their families' lives is "toxic masculinity", and is NOT ever a good thing. Saving people from bad guys is a good thing. If they do it without shooting people up and/or losing their lives making it possible are a MAGNIFICENT thing, and the stuff statues should be made of, not golf players or traitorous generals who tried to overthrow the USA and slaughtered 500,000 loyal Americans in their perfidy.
Do you believe rape is due to inherent gender and biological/genetic factors, or "toxic masculinity" culture? Let's be honest here.
I have an idea. Why not encourage men to be strong leaders in the family unit so young males grow up with respect for others and some impulse control. But that’s not “progressive” so we can’t have that. Oh those pesky unintended consequences...or are they unintended....
I'm sure it has more to do with toxic masculinity, or at least, lesser men behavior. When someone like Trump brags about groping women, that isn't locker room talk, but the expressions of dysfunctional masculinity. Same with those men who get women drunk, or give them date rape drugs. Or when men, like Harvey Weinstein, use their position of power to coerce women into sex. Or those doctors who get a little too friendly. Maybe our country has a problem of not having good positive male role models. I know some of you conservatives really hate Obama, but if he were to be put on a pedestal, as a positive Black role model, and his behavior was emulated by young blacks, it would much improve their lot in society, as well as all of society. The man who stopped the shooting is a black man, and on the local news they were interviewing students, about the hero. It seemed to be a very positive thing for young impressionable men. A standup man who takes out the bad guy, is whole lot better than the guy slinging dope on the corner. Just like a real man does not have to carry a gun to bolster his masculinity, he does not have to force, trick, or pay a woman to have sex with him.
What you are doing here is expressing the Republican narrative that has been being spread on FOX and right wing radio. It is not true; as it was designed to put into the heads of conservatives, that liberals do not have their best interests at heart. But we do. We want you to have the best possible health care. We want your children to get the best education. We want you to aspire to fulfill your dreams. We want you to be healthy and happy. The real problem is that the Republican narrative does not reflect Republican actions. Sure Trump tells you that he is for the working man, but he has never done anything for the working man. Republican candidates are always going on about supporting the working man. But they never pass any bills that specially help the working man. In fact they tend to block anything that does. At least the Democrats have been working at keeping work places safe, to ensure that workers are properly paid, that they have health care, their children have good schools to go to, and they have a clean environment to live and breath in.
Not true? Check out crime stats, suicide rates, and on and on. Fatherless homes are a problem and it has nothing to do with Fox or Republicans. Progressive ideas destroyed families. My ideas have nothing to do with any narrative. They are based on statistics, real world observation, and logic. Got any statistics to show I’m wrong?
Conservative couples are just as likely to split as liberals ones. It is Republican programming, that keeps telling conservatives that all the failings of society are fault of liberals, progressives environmentalists, feminists, blah. blah, blah.... The reason that Democrats tend to win elections in cities is because Republicans have repeatedly proven themselves incapable of running cities. Democrats rule because Republicans suck, pure and simple. At a town meeting, when faced with all the problems of the community, what is the Republican response? Go F@#$ yourself. By contrast, the Democrat, goes, well lets see if we can work something out.
