Jesus Christ https://www.theguardian.com/politic...arage-lead-opinion-poll-conservatives-opinium Rubbing the sweat off my brow as the English move like rats to the sea........ Phew! Thank goodness, Nicola Sturgeon has come up with a neat little plan to allow us to move without that insanity towards Independence. The cleverness of the referendum bill
Oh, deep joy! Another minority dictatorship, such as a Brexit/Tory coalition, implementing its ideological brainfarts without effective opposition, and another five years of the majority of Scottish MPs spitting into the wind and getting their faces covered in gloop. Independence has GOT to be the better option.
I doubt very much that anyone really cares what the SNP wants. Wee Krankie will probably do her usual trick of flouncing down to Westminster, declaring that she is about to bring down the government, spend a day or two shopping in Oxford Street and then return to Scotland where she will spend her time sending love letters to Jean Claud Juncker and wondering why he can't recall her name. The SNP does not count. The contest will be between a Brexit Party/Tory alliance and a left/liberal one between the Lib Dems, Labour party, Greens etc. My money is on the Brexit Party/Tory alliance. Fog in the Channel. Europe cut off
Yes, it will be the Right of the Tories in a coalition with Brexit. Some of the wannabes, Raab comes to mind, have already said that was what they would do, before they even knew how far the Tories popularity would plummet. Many of them are trying to get Trump to endorse them. I suspect it will be the end of the Tories in some way - the left probably joining the LibDems in large numbers though they will probably have their Brexit through prior to an election. There is no way I want to be part of a far right Trumpeting country so yes, I think it would be a very good time for another Indy vote if this comes into being. Mind you the Tories know they are gone if they call for an election. Better just to start moving on Indy right away.
We know nobody cares what Scotland wants....that has been made abundantly clear by every Unionist MP in Westminster. The SNP might not count with you, which means Scotland doesn't count with you...and that is perfectly fine if you are an English/British nationalist...or just someone outside the UK with an opinion. I assume then, you are quite sanguine about another Scottish independence referendum, once the country we voted to stay shackled to in 2014 is irretrievably changed by Brexit from the one we voted to remain in as by then we will have reached the situation that every single promise made in 2014 to win that referendum has been dumped in the overflowing bucket of promises made by Unionists to get their own way and then torn up. Seems to me that if Unionists don't care what Scotland wants, then you won't care if we love you and leave you.
Couldn't agree more. Somehow I missed that post yesterday. Indeed I have heard it suggested that one of the advantages of some of the Hard line Brexiters is that they will have no problem with Scotland claiming Independence and Ireland Uniting again. Possibly that is where this poster comes from.
That is about it. If the Scots care to vote for independence and then enslave themselves to the EU that is fine by me. Similarly, should the Paddies decide to reunite Ireland and spend eternity kneecapping each other then good luck to them. My concern is that the rest of the UK gets a no deal Brexit. The almost terminal whingeing of the lesser provinces is of no interest to me.
The rest of the UK is basically England so I am guessing you are an English rather than British nationalist - the hatred of the other you show also goes with ethnic Nationalism. Yes Wales is there and if it had the money it would move and possibly eventually will as they have started having marches for Independence. Was it during the Indyref you built up your hatred for Scotland - and it would appear desire for Brexit though where the desire to harm even English people with No Deal comes from is lost to me? I foresee English civil war if people of your orientation manage to gain power in England - noting to do with Scotland or Ireland here - like I said your attitude, along with the new law Nicola has brought it will make those things simpler but English people themselves will fight against degrading into ethnic English Nationalism.
I don't hate Scotland. Like most of my fellow Englishmen I am vaguely sentimental about the place. After all, it is nice to have somewhere to keep the lawnmower. And as I posted earlier, if Scotland were to become independent then that would be fine by me. To become independent of the UK and then enslave yourself to the EU seems a sad business but there you go. But the bottom line is that Scotland does not count. Nice enough place but it is still just a minor pile of rock at the arse end of the empire. Wee Krankie can jump up and down like the before part of an advert for a haemorrhoid cure, but neither she nor the SNP have anything to offer the rest of the UK.
Oh God help us the Brexit Party is coming out with its election promises and according to aav using what they know gets them the most votes - lies!! Here is some information from aav cont'd https://anotherangryvoice.blogspot.com/
Nigel Farage as PM ... and Boris Johnson changing party o him to become again foreign minister .... this will be funny and make the UK completely to a banana state! Anyway ... such polls are always somehow idiotic. Farage robbed mostly the votes from UKIP and got some few further % from those Pro-Brexit voters who are annoyed with their Torries or labour party. A coalitioon of Laboutr with the Lib-Dems would be great ... and with the Greens maybe on the way to get majority of over 50%
Depends on the organization who does .... For example are ... let me say 1,000 or 10,000 people being called by phone and then asked. Other do so on streets or in fromt of shopping malls etc. ... "May I can ask you some anonymus questions for a poll?" ... Makes them really trustworthy!
This one was done by Electoral Calculus website according to the Guardian of 2,000 UK people. Some polls are done by phone and some you can just fill in on the net. Phone ones seems to be more accurate. There are a whole lot of things which determine how accurate they are likely to be - for instance the share of voters belonging to a particular party or none, those who intend to vote or not, how people voted last time and all sorts of other things for which they have to adjust with weighting. If you have an interest in finding out all the pros and cons of polls, I am not sure you will find his political position of your choice but this guy knows all about them https://scotgoespop.blogspot.com/2019/06/we-got-to-get-out-of-this-place-uk-on.html
Didn't the bloke who writes that blog expect the Brexit Party to win the Peterborough by-election? Just shows you can't take much more from polls than the Romans managed to glean from reading chicken entrails.
Sturgeon simply hates the English, no other reason, she just hates the English. Her BS saying Scotland needs independence to make their own decisions is complete and utter toffee when they want to be controlled by the dictatorship EU.
Not at all. I never conduct my politics based on, "Do I like that person". I vote based on policies and results, hence why Labour never gets my vote.
I mean their policies of course, Corbyn's Montemum thugs Vs. Theresa May's deal. Brexit Party came in, and people saw that as the better alternative. You may as well have made 'None of the above' an option.
Hmmm. The Brexit Party is second in the polls in Scotland. Don't count your chickens! And unfortunately, Scotland's economy isn't good enough to join the EU on its own and won't be for a long time, so put that to bed and stop trying to distance yourselves from the mess this country has found itself in and muck in with the rest of us to get a people's vote. How anyone with more than a half a brain cell can still support Brexit is beyond me, not to mention actually crashing out with no deal! What are they thinking? Anyway, no matter what the polls might say, Labour won Peterborough. Farage has yet to win a seat at Westminster. I can't honestly see that changing.
We are thinking that we want to be free. You are thinking that you want to spend eternity sucking Brussels' dick. If Boris gets us out of the EU by Halloween then those Tories who deserted to the Brexit Party will return and vote him back in 2022 while the Labour Party will continue to destroy itself. If we are still in the EU by the end of October then the Dandruff Kid will be ushered into Number 10 and asked to form a government of his Brexit Party supporters.
I almost had a heart attack but https://scotgoespop.blogspot.com/2019/06/richard-leonard-begs-for-mercy-as.html the Scottish subsample of the Yougov pol of 15th June which had Brexit top in England. You will see that the SNP have more than 3 times the votes of Brexit, though the Brexit party did have more than Labour....and in the latest poll for an Indyref yes won! admittedly by less that the Brexit vote but a win it was 50.2% for indyref 2 49.8% against...so if you look at that with how things changed during the 2 years of Referendum last time ............ https://scotgoespop.blogspot.com/ This is a make or break time. I have said several times I would support a Corbyn Government, anything else now I would be for Indy and fight for something like that here. That isn't what is being spoken about much at the moment but it was what the Indyref was more about. I think England is in the most dangerous situation at the moment. My reading on Saturday of what Hunt had to say about Corbyn saying much the same about the situation with the Tankers and Iran as those who worked with Obama leading to me thinking the Tory Party would be going with Trump to war against Iran - and for them I am sure it is to hide the disgusting mess they are going to make to this country as they see their own piles of money grow and grow - and it was more than I could bare. Scotland must go Independent and provide some protection from us moving down the fascist road where England seems to be going. However if there was enough fight in the people of England to take the only alternative I see which is the current Corbyn led Labour Party, then we would not be going to war with Iran or heading out into fascism and the situation would be different....as for money that is an interesting thing - apart from what the general situation is because I have not looked for a long time and do not know and last time it was wrongly reported - but if we go the Brexit way and at war with Iran, then the price of oil is going to explode and although that will do nothing to help the climate, it could give Scotland that extra little bit it would need to rebuild Hadrian's Wall. We would of course offer help to the Resistance in England. I would be fine with joining EFTA/EEA
