Most people don't know, this guy deserves the true credit for the Warriors' post-2014 championships. Steve Kerr and Alvin Gentry stole Terry's schematic, in PHX, then they took it to Golden State with them ... the rest is history. You do realize, this is exactly what every analyst does, right?
There is some truth to that. Another guy that used to drive me crazy behind the mike was Bill Walton. Every time some player would make a great play, he would bloviate, comparing the guy to Michael Jordan or Larry Bird. He was another one who I used to yell at in my living room, "Shut the f--k up, Bill!" We'll just have to agree to disagree on Jackson, and I shall continue to mute the hell out of him.
Oh yes, I remember those old "NBA on NBC" days, when Steve 'Snapper' Jones used to give Bill Walton the flucks.
Richard Jefferson, does it for me. I can't stand him. I hate how he's always bringing players' personal lives, into discussions, and I know he's going to go far in this analysts game. Because he knows which players to talk bad about.
Here's Clyde. Really fun video to watch. It highlights his dunks. But he was also a good 3-ball shooter, excellent ball handler. Really the total package, and a true gentleman.
I cherish Clyde. I especially love his take, on the '92 Dream Team. He was an Isaiah Thomas fan, so he did not appreciate Isaiah being left off of the Dream Team.
Have you experienced his opinion, on the '92 Dream Team? If so, what do you think about what he said??
I loved watching Clyde the Glide play and he was and is a true gentleman, but it took the great Bill Walton to help him bring the title to Portland. That was a great team! I have known Bill for 30 years and still see him all the time at Grateful Dead concerts. He is annoying as an announcer but a really great guy. He was also arguably the greatest college basketball player of all time.
Huh? lol When Bill Walton guided Portland to the NBA title, Clyde the Glide was a scrawny little kid on his Jr. High School's basketball team.
Sorry, you are right. Walton’s Blazers were Maurice Lucas, Lionel Holland, Dave Twardzik, and company.
@Andrew Jackson @Raffishragabash @Robert @TurnerAshby Raptors win Game 4, go up 3-1. Remind me not to ever predict. I got it wrong on the 2016 election too, thinking Hillary was a shoo-in right up until election night. Still, I don't count the Warriors out. If any team could come back from a 3-1 deficit, it is this team. But I'm hoping the Raptors pull this off for their fans.
I guess they really needed KD after all? How about Kawhi joining LeBron and Kareem as Finals MVP with 2 different teams? It would be SO Great if the Raptors did it. I might even pop over to Windsor and watch it on a big screen in a sports bar. Oughtta be great fun if they do it. Ontario will be a blast.
Don't sweat it. You got fooled by the Portland series, is all. We all got fooled by the Portland series. You just have to remember, right now this Warriors team only has Draymond ...really... in terms of players who can dig deep down to find something, extra, which it takes to win impossible games. We saw in 2016, this core is only built for the regular season. Now we know, they really did need KD to come join them in 2017.
DISCLAIMER: Consider injuries being so, so impactful in sports, especially during final weeks of the season/playoffs show us which teams' injuries did directly prevent a championship season. Thereby, we have two (2) reasons why Toronto should deserve an asterisk, if they go on to win this championship: 1- The Warriors' injuries, prevent them from putting their core players on the floor who would probably beat Toronto pretty easily. 2- Kawhi. Reflect on how over the past twenty-five (25) months, the Warriors' core players have each had only 5-6 months of rest/not playing in NBA games. Whereas Kawhi has had a whopping fourteen (14) months of rest/not playing in NBA games over the past twenty-five (25) months if you check. So Kawhi is fresher/more revitalized than everyone else on the court, in an almost unfair way.
Toronto is able to do something I thought they couldnt..... Slow the pace down. With the game being more half court sets it really magnifies the absence of KD.
I think the warriors show the dangers of having all your cap space wrapped up in a few players. Their bench is so weak because they didn't have the money to sign quality bench players so if a star or God forbid two go down they are sol
How is that true??...didn't each elite-player take, less money, to keep this team together? Remember now, if KD and Demarcus are healthy, then we are not having this discussion. The Warriors "actual" bench really is, amazing, if you compare it to other NBA playoff teams. Their bench knows how to play their roles to win a championship; Iggy, Looney, Bogut, Livingston, McKinney, Cook, are all pretty good/far better than 90% of the NBA teams' bench players. Plus Bell and Jerebko are decent some times. Meanwhile as far as the Raptors bench, they are only playing three (3) guys. Can you believe that?!! It's unheard of, for an 8-man rotation to play this energetic in the NBA Finals.
Steph 37m KD 30m Klay 18m Draymond 17m Iggy 16m Livingston 8m cousins 5m mle The rest minimum or rookie deals lol Iggy-good but can't shoot and overpaid Looney- defensively good that's it Bogut- scrub at this point in his career (see his Cleveland stint) McKinney- shoots ok that's it (12th man) Cook- shoots ok and a defensive sieve lol (like a 12th man) And cousins was a non factor all year still is.. KD is important when the pace slows and you need a bucket
