That is the very definition of religion. The common observation that chance is not a creative force is not nullified by being commonly observable. There have been, and continue to be, many attempts to disprove the assertion that chance is not a creative force. They have all, to date, failed. Indeed, that is why Darwinism is yet a mere theory.
Chance (randomness?) is one of the most contentious philosophical issues. Requires another thread and even then I doubt we’d get anywhere, especially if quantum physics got tangled up in the discussion. When it comes to religion and science the greatest puzzle for me isn’t the abstract arguments but how otherwise sane scientists can in part operate on faith. The human mind's ability to quarantine contradictory ideas from each other is astonishing. Maybe some form of evolutionary survival strategy but I can’t imagine what it is.
Well, the chance thing is very real, but it is not the cool part that drives us forward. Also, we don't always know what the odds are - especially when we don't fully understand how something works. I think knowing the odds for abiogenesis (for example) would require us to know how it happened. But, we don't. I have no idea what you're referring to.with that second part. And, the closest thing to "faith" in scinece is that the foundational principle is that we may meaningfully observe the universe. From there, it is muliple layers of focus on eliminating incorrect propositions.
Perhaps calling this force Big Bang instead of God would make sense. God has a lot of baggage. But my guess is that you think God created the big bang.
This does not demonstrate incompatibility. Au contraire, it demonstrates compatibility. Have you more ammunition?
Now , now children, you can all take a seat and calm down. Cosmologists have now decided there was no Big Bang, just and endless series of ‘re-creations' without beginning or end. https://www.outerplaces.com/science/item/17171-big-bang-theory-science-never-happened On the other hand there’s an obscure branch of modern theology that claims they’ve solved the problem of the contradiction between God’s omniscience and his granting us free will. The big bang was actually God committing suicide and the Crucifixtion was instigated as a symbol of that ultimate sacrifice. Just when you thought Christian theology couldn’t get any stranger we discover a system which leaves our species responsible for becoming God-like. Fat chance.
Like many aspects of scripture, the Ten Commandaments aren’t as set in stone as fundamentalists want us, and themselves, to believe. https://www.wsfa.com/story/421272/how-many-versions-of-the-ten-commandments-are-there-/
How to you reconcile this claim with how inaccurate the Bible is in describing reality? The Bible is purely scientifically wrong all over the place.
no they are not, they were made of stone, they never made it down the mountain, better read that bible again, he destroyed them cause he saw a golden calf
sound like something a person like Trump would do, God is gonna give me two stone tablets, then go up there and try to make them himself and realize he could not, so come down and in a fit of rage destroy them and say, God gave them to him but cause of you I had to destroy them - and Trump supporters would believe him
For goodness sake, read the fairy tale and understand what it says. Exodus 34:11-28 = https://mobile.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=exodus34:11-28&version=TLB;ERV;WYC;KJV;CEV Maybe you are a visual learner?
I was referring to the originals, but I think we agree, they are like the seer stones, no one conveniently has ever seen them
It is important to know what the real Ten Commandments are because all of the biblical stories are based on one or more of them. The miracles are based on Exodus 34:10. Consequently, if a person doesn't know and understand that, he won't understand the ancient ethnocentric Middle Eastern Jewish religious fairy tale. Are you familiar with 2 Esdras 6:50-59 (CEB)? =https://mobile.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2esdras6:50-59&version=CEB Read and think about it. Then you may see how that idea has contaminated events throughout world history.
let's see the stone tablets, I am just saying they are like the seer stones, we have not seen them Exodus 34 "Then the LORD told Moses, “Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones. I will write on them the same words that were on the tablets you smashed. 2Be ready in the morning to climb up Mount Sinai and present yourself to me on the top of the mountain. 3No one else may come with you. In fact, no one is to appear anywhere on the mountain. Do not even let the flocks or herds graze near the mountain.”" Moses had to chisel the tablets ahead of time, God could not do that from all that rock on the mountain, and no one was allowed to witness it..... sounds fishy to me
So...here we have an entire ethos and societal influence based on stone tablets that no one has seen, created by something no one has seen but also created by a man that no one has seen, on a mountain no one has seen because the "God" no one has seen told the man no one has seen to not let anyone see what no one has seen. Is that a good idea to base society on?......I just don't see it.
Let's review the fairy tale, Exodus 31:18 https://mobile.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=exodus31:18&version=CEB;ERV;WYC;KJV;CEV. Those were the stone tablets that Moses lugged down the mountain after going without food and water for forty days and forty nights. Jealous wrote those with his own finger. When Moses saw that the people were exercising freedom of religion, he flew into a rage, broke the stone tablets, and had his gang of thugs kill about three thousand people. Exodus 31 does not specify who chipped out those stone tablets. In Exodus 34, Jealous tells Moses to chip out a new set of stone tablets and to lug them up the mountain. After another forty days and forty nights without food and water Moses lugs them down the mountain. Exodus 34:11-28 says what was on the stone tablets and calls them the Ten Commandments. All of the biblical stories are based on Exodus 34:10-28. Moses was a homicidal extortionist. He imposed his delusion on the people and made them fork over their money and best food to his gang of thugs, the Levites. The people had to pay all kinds of fees, including ones for having babies. If they didn't pay, their babies were killed. If anyone wants to learn how to become a criminal he should read the Bible.
