First the argument being presented on the part of yourself pertains to a ten year old child being able to go into any Wal-Mart and purchasing a fully-automatic firearm all by themselves, all without the parents ever knowing what is transpiring. When called out on the ridiculousness of such an idiotic notion, the argument then shifts to the claim of parents simply leaving the firearms that they themselves own just laying around in a reckless manner where anyone can find them.
And such an individual will never be dissuaded from their actions due to having to wait a few days. Such an individual has already made the conscious decision that they are going to go ahead with their actions, and are long past the point of second guessing the decision to go through with such. And law enforcement will tell the individual that there is nothing they can do until the individual who is threatening them has already shown up at their location of residence, by which point law enforcement intervention will be too late. Such is how things work in the united states where law enforcement officers have finite numbers and finite resources, and the inability to preemptively enforce an order of protection.
And certainly on the part of yourself is not proof. There is really no way to prove this because every situation is different and the mindset of the potential shooter is an unknown.
I like following the Constitution of the United States, since it is the supreme law of the land. I like the USA being a Federated Republic; I do not want it to become an Oligarchy nor do I want it to embrace Marxism.
Probably not as waiting periods apply to handguns and given the amount of money they had access to the could have easily bought a stolen hand gun on the streets.
Merely recognizing the reality of the world for what it is. If that reality does not conform to the desires on the part of yourself, then the fault lies with yourself on that particular matter.
Such speculation on hypotheticals is not a sufficient reason to attempt mandatory waiting periods on all legal firearm purchases. There is no evidence, absolutely none whatsoever, to show that the supposed "cooling down" period has any merit or effectiveness, even in the states in which such purchasing restrictions do exist.
If the Menendez brothers did not actually have access to money, how did they go about purchasing the shotguns in the first place?
Do be sure to let those present know how a ten year old could actually afford the market price of such a firearm if one were ever to become available.
Thank you, kind sir, for enlightening me on the ways of the world. Gosh, I wish I had your worldliness.
They had an American Express card at all times that Jose (dad) gave them. I don't think that the other seller would accept a credit card.
Meaning you do not actually possess anything other than supposition and confirmation bias of your own theory.
Then explain the common sense in forcing all individuals to wait a mandatory period of time before being able to legally take purchase of their legally owned property. Merely claiming that such is common sense is not good enough, those who believe such must actually make their case and present the basis of their position to demonstrate why they believe it to be valid.
If such actually were possessed, perhaps the forum would not be deluged by nonsensical postings submitted by those who have no position of their own, and are merely repeating what they have been told to say by others who employ them as mouthpieces for spreading a particular viewpoint.
