The Catholic Church likes to aid the “underdog”, and if that means the destruction of the U.S., so be it.

If it means fundamentally changing my country and turning it into Venezuela, you’re damn right.

It has been going on for decades and somehow we all survived. But go ahead and keep telling yourself that they will suddenly turn us into a foreign Country if that makes you sleep better at night. Bless your fragile heart.

None of the recent flag raisers had any land taken from them by our country. Their Great-Great Grand-parents, maybe....200 years ago, when that portion of the country was still wild and, for the most part, unsettled. However, these people have had nothing "stolen" from them. You talk of history, but you seem to judge history on the "moralities" of today instead of what was considered "moral" 200 years ago. That is not "knowing history", that is "rewriting history". These people have no justification for moral outrage from conflicts with our military almost 200 years ago any more than many Americans would have moral outrage directed at the British from events that happened 250 years ago. They are not entitled to their forefather's holdings and we are not responsible for the sins of OUR forefathers.

Brother, we turned Venezuela into Venezuela. The mistake Chavez made, and it was a mistake, was standing up to the Americans vis a vis oil prices.

This is a different situation than anything we've seen since the 1750-1800 Scots-Irish immigration to the American interior, which did change the American colonies into a fundamentally different kind of place. In extremely fundamental ways, Trumpist politics are an evolution of precisely this immigrant wave.

I can still remember the frugal assets of humans that lived before and during the Great Depression, we were told by that generation to use only two perforated pieces of tissue to wipe with, much like a ration of shyt tickets in a “c” ration while in the army...

    Socialism turned Venezuela into Venezuela.

It was once one of the wealthiest nations in latin America, and it has/had natural resources.

Latin america makes the Great Depression seem mundane.

I had a teacher who came up during those days, she wouldn't use staplers.

We just folded the corner of the papers before we turned them in.

    No, it didn't.

...until American relations took a nosedive. Do you think it's a coincidence that socialist countries with good American relations do pretty well, while socialist countries with bad American relations do poorly?

So you think that multiculturalism and assimilation basically means the same thing?

    My instincts were correct.

OK this observation does show a view beyond mere talking points. Earlier mockery reconsidered.

Depends on which countries you are referring to.

Please don't tell me you are referring to scandinavia.

I'm thinking of Vietnam and China. As American relations improve, their economies improve. It's not a coincidence.

Vietnam is a adversary of China, just like North Korea isn't a fan.

So its to our benefit to work with Vietnam.

China, has enriched itself off of the US for decades but thats changing.

At their core, they are still commies and will refuse the true path to economic improvement-which adopting more capitalist ideals (like India).

Sadly, at this time they don't appear to want to go down that road, and all the evidence you need is what they are doing to Hong Kong.

Additionally, the US makes a distinction between eastern and western diplomacy.

    Its a thing-look it up.

Okay. Are we going to start spouting pointless trivia? I can talk about Vietnamese demographic geography, if you want.

Yeah, that's why we're doing it.

Sure sounds like you're agreeing with me.

And yet, China will be much wealthier than India for a very long time.

So what you're saying is that socialist countries can't make it on their own without being propped up by the US? What does that tell you about socialism?

No, I'm saying that the United States is a hegemonic power that can make or break any country, whatever their politics.

There sure is. In fact the 'racism', or prejudice'. depends on varying shades of brown or white and variations on color appeal was even mentioned in schools, not as being good or bad but only as to learn about adjectives.

And the prejudice against Nicaraguans in Costa Rica, for example, is never disguised and it's taken for granted that the "Nicas" are simply an inferior, and dangerous, people. I've had many Nicaraguan employees and like the culture and the people very much. But, as is often the case in Latin America, the governments grind the people down.

Leftist dictatorships play the Leftists in Europe and America very well. They know how simple they are and will tell the media they will work for 'justice for the people' while all the time getting more power and filling the pockets of themselves and their friends.
