So why waste money trying to do something? I take it you support us pulling out of the Paris accord? Waste of money right? Can't do anything, too late.
How is that my problem? The clip in question is specifically about making regulation which applies in all of the world (or at least large parts of it), including the third world.
The sad thing is that we have the technology so save ourselves. But we won't because of the kind of ignorance we see in this thread. We could turn this around in ten years, but stupidity will prevent that. People would rather kill their grandchildren than lose a political argument, So screw em, I don't have any kids to worry about. Burn baby burn.
Consider the irony of all the righties screaming about abortion, while actively working to destroy the world those children will inherit; all because of pride, stupidity, and selfishness. This while they pound on their bibles. It is the sickest and saddest joke in the history of the human race.
You have ZERO evidence of a conspiracy in science. Science just doesn't work that way. Science is based on evidence and independent testing and review. And, the issues of climate change are simply too complex for those who study the various parts to know how to contribute to a hoax of that magnitude. The conspiracy theory idea is just plain silly. Your second isn't supportable, so it's certainly no surprise that you don't even try. Finally, yes it is a world wide problem. So, we need to find world wide solutions. But, that doesn't mean we get to opt out. The US is still the largest per capita emitter of greenhouse gas. WE are the worst offenders as individuals. Beyond that, there is serious value in slowing warming. The toad on the hot plate doesn't say, "It looks bad, so keep turning up the heat." We (as people of Earth) need the time to adjust to the changing climate.
Kerry talks about the need for all nations to participate. China, with the highest total emissions, is working hard to corner the market on clean energy technology - more patents than any other nation, more equipment export than any other country and an astounding program of moving to clean energy technology in China. Our dedicated efforts at ignoring the need for clean energy are losing us a major economic opportunity while we point at other countries, trying to pretend that THEY are the problem, not us. Pathetic.
If those areas of the world cared, they wouldn't look the way they do. They'll agree to it for one reason, and one reason only: the money they'll take from western countries. Of course, that doesn't mean they'll use it for the intended purpose, which will just mean sending them even more money.
Meanwhile, in China: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...e-5-percent-in-january-february-idUSKCN1R20D0 SHANGHAI (Reuters) - China’s average concentrations of lung-damaging particles known as PM2.5 rose by 5.2 percent in the first two months of the year
Exactly. They have very serious reason to see clean energy as a top national objective as well as a major economic opportunity. The effort they are putting into clean energy should not be surprising. In the past, people would actually argue that China wouldn't "cooperate" in greenhouse gas reduction!!! Not only are they "cooperating", they are turning it into a major worldwide economic advantage for themselves - taking clear leadership of one of the most important economic growth opportunities of the emerging world economy.
it's true, no one is gonna change until they have no choice but to change, it's just reality science will have to invent better options that are cheaper and better then what the world uses now or the world is not gonna change there are other options, some have risks, when the danger becomes great enough, those risks may be tried, such as manipulating the atmosphere on purpose (but hey, scientist can't change the climate, so let them play away right)
No, it most definitely is NOTHING like that. China is simply doing it. And, we simply aren't. In fact, we're not even willing to TALK about it - other than to deride the very idea that science AND our economy have something to offer on the issue.
Unfortunately. And, one might ask who has the right to change Earth's atmosphere. Or, would each nation work to change Earth's atmosphere to be the way they wanted it for themselves?
Yes, the worlds greatest polluter is going to do what leftists in the US want them to do. /knee slap That was a good one.
We should be competitive in clean energy, too. The fact that China caught on doesn't mean that we have to surrender.
They are the leading patent holders in clean energy. THEY are the source of the innovation. They are also the leaders in manufacturing clean energy technology, exports of that technology and the leading installers of clean energy. I agree you have identified an issue with trade with China, but I don't see it applying to clean energy. Also, your point just means we have to work harder to stay ahead. And, we aren't working harder - we're ceding clean energy leadership to China.
They have the worst pollution in the world. Go ahead and put the crackheads in charge of national security while you're at it.
Yes. Those who thought China wouldn't "cooperate" on clean energy totally forgot to notice how important clean energy progress is to CHINA!! What putzes!! And, thus it is the USA that does not "cooperate" on clean energy - we sit back an cede that portion of the global economy to China - exactly like THEY want us to do. But, why do we do that??? It simply makes no sense.
true, that is why I think the situation would have to be dire before that was allowed but sense some on the right don't believe man can change the Earth's atmosphere, they would probably not care if they tried
