I did something I don’t do often. I wandered over to the “natural news” site, not sure why since reading anything on that site is a mental dip in a mud bath but, I came across this https://www.naturalnews.com/2019-07...n-in-controversial-vaccine-safety-debate.html The pro-vaxxer in me screamed “good! Finally! About time the twaddle that is passed off as “science” will be relegated to where it belongs, in the garbage heaps of history. But with that comes the caution that we do have to allow critics a voice What think you my fellow science fiends!
Anti-vaxx goes along with Intelligent Design, Creation Science, and AGW. As silly as those arguments are, they should still be allowed to be heard.
Have you elevated your self superior to all science again and will agree only with a part you happen to like?
Robert, objective science far outweighs anti-vaxx confirmation science that vaxx is the right way to go.
The problem is most nonsense believes are harmless to others but the anti-vaxx place the whole society at risk so it not one and the same thing.
I understand BillRM's argument, but I do not think it can override 1st Amendment guarantees for anti-vaxxers.
OTH, state leges have the right to say "We care more for your children's futures, anti-vaxxers, and you will have them vaccinated in they are attend public schools and universities or work for public entities."
And Flanders is dead wrong in insisting there is no modern day propaganda. Despite its beginnings long before the middle ages, the British in WWI brought it up to modern day standards.
Except when falsehood is presented as “fact” One of my favourite websites of all time is the one on DHMO https://www.dhmo.org/facts.html It is all completely factual and just as completely misleading
If we surrender 1st Amendment protections then we might as well join lower societies such as UK or Germany.
Anti=vaxxers endanger public health as well as the health of the individual innocent child denied the protection of vaccines. I think goggle did the right thing. Public health endangerment in denying scientific fact by being utterly ignorant, paranoid or just plain stupid is I think an appropriate bar.
I am not complaining about Google at all, am I? I am saying the government cannot limit anti-vaxxers' free speech.
I think google is overstepping it's bounds. I agree with you that anti-vaxxing is wrong, but I think the issue needs to be discussed, and that is impossible if we don't allow both sides as part of the discussion. Anti-vaxxers on purely selfish grounds are making the most rational choice for their kids, provided they live in an area that has herd immunity. That rational choice falls apart if the area doesn't have herd immunity. I vaccinated my sons, not solely to help them, but also to provide herd immunity for the safety of kids who can't be vaccinated. That said, my sons would have had the least chance of any adverse effects if they lived here in Florida (my county has a 93% vaccination rate at kindergarden level, and 97% at 7th grade level), but I hadn't had them vaccinated. Vaccinations do have adverse consequences at times.
Anti-vaxx is along with Flat Earth, and it is deadly to all of us. Eventually a virulent strain will develop and return to a vulnerable population and humanity might very well not survive this time. The Constitution is not a suicide pact. https://nationalpost.com/news/why-anti-vaxxers-arent-just-killing-their-own-kids
Try flying into the US with a suspected case of Ebola and see how fast your Consitutional Rights get compromised.
pro-vax is what I believe, but we do need to be careful, at some point something bad could be released in a vax and would everyone ignore it and it take 50 years to realize it like the sugar is good, fat is bad campaign that was so wrong, yet so many thought was right - so I agree with you, we just need to be careful
There have been flawed vaccines created and even sometimes released but they were identified and the issues resolved. Like any human system, it will never be perfect but it does exist. The “crying wolf”, with associated lies and misinformation promoted by the opponents of vaccines in general only serves to muddy the waters and make it harder to distinguish between the false information and any real issues or concerns.
Free speech has limits and I think advocating a cause that can have life long deleterious effects on an innocent child (even death) while endangering public health should be an instance where judicious limitations are appropriate. And I believe governments local and national should mandate vaccinations for all children in the interests of the child and public health and safety.
Truth Police War is Peace Freedom is Slavery Ignorance is Strength Ignore that autism has increased parallel to my 6 vaccinations, a D, a P, a T,, and 3 kinds of polio to over 50 vaccinations beginning on the day of birth! Hep B Ignore the numbers.
Yes, as a public issue, I agree that such mandates can be made. But to outlaw vocal rebuttal is fascist authoritarianism, and I oppose that. The more the anti-vaxxers preach their confirmation science the more the literate public realize just how valuable and necessary mandatory vaxxing is.
I think it reasonable for society to demand that in instances of public health and child endangerment, any opposition to the mandate should be based on proven science and not quack pseudo-science the enables such outraged claims of certitude in all their ignorance.
