I believe there was an unsettling truth in urbanek's argument, if only Pro-Choicers will listen. Sometimes it takes an absurd hypothetical assertion to wake people up to the truth. What makes his idea absurd is the same core that makes the Pro-Choice position potentially wrong. That's why you simply can't write-off the analogy as absurd.
if I want to be put to sleep if I get Alzheimer's, that should be my choice, I should be able to put that directive on my file death with dignity should be allowed, we should all have that choice Republicans like to kill people after they are born against their will "Bush Criticized for End-of-Life Laws" https://web.archive.org/web/20051219170102/http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,151448,00.html "But on March 15, a Texas law signed by then-Gov. George W. Bush (search) in 1999 allowed the hospital to go ahead and take Sun off the respirator in defiance of Wanda Hudson's wishes."
forcing rape victims to have their rapists baby is not the same as death with dignity laws which states like Oregon support
A law Swift? The truth is regulated abortion is the law of the land and will not overthrown or returned to the states. Republicans love 'end of life' laws.
NO, it is not my "personal opinion" that humans don't have rights until birth...it is a fact. (BTW, it's funny how you didn't quote me so I didn't get an alert that someone was addressing my post…..was there a reason you didn't want me to see it? )
Many people sleep in a fetal position. Do you really think we all become fetuses because we sleep in a fetal position? Absurd. A sick person does not use the caregiver's physical body parts to sustain their life. They are not connected physically to another person. Caregivers can recover from any harm caregiving causes, women do not recover from pregnancy, their bodies are forever damaged. Caregivers can seek relief and help with caregiving, a pregnant woman cannot. So it's more of a "revenge against women" thing?
So you don't think we get rights when we're born? Question you "missed":Are you saying the sick and elderly shouldn't have rights??
You know there is no text saying, "one has to be born to be a legal person", but one does have to be born to be a legal person (citizen) Why don't you think born people have rights?
Don't kill them. We might be close to a cure! See other thread topic: Scientists reverse Alzheimer damage in human cells
I'm not a Constitutional/BOR/DOI expert but they all protect the rights of the individual, bodily autonomy. No, I can't show the exact text but that's what they are for. I answered YOUR question but you have been unable to answer MY question: Why don't you think born people have rights? Why is that?? Do you think a fetus has rights?
You might not be physically capable of making a choice, at that point. I'm guessing it would also be your choice to be aborted, if you were a fetus?
my family already knows my choice on this, but I woudl prefer to put it in writing in a living will and have it honored a living will prevents the religious nuts from attacking my family for my choice after I can no longer state it publicly
