That quote might have been Stokely Carmichael or Rap Brown, and it was certainly the signature quote of the Black Panthers. But Malcolm was a separatist before his conversion to 'true' Islam and I'm not sure he said something like that. I ought to look it up but have to take care of social obligations at the moment.
I had to have a look myself. You are right, my memory is at fault. He did not say "By any means possible!" He actually said, "By any means necessary!"
I do not know that Long ever spoke or behaved antisemitic as Coughlin and old man Ford did. Ford even lost some major libel / slander suit over antisemitic publications. I can understand Long may have connected, "da Jews" to those bankers and such money hoarders as Long detested. As do I. But, I do not know that he ever spoke or wrote of it or denied Jewish doctors positions at his new Louisiana hospitals. Do you? Sadly the whole Ken Burns, American Experience, "Huey Long" is not yet available for free In no manner do I claim Huey Long did not run Louisiana like The Kingfish only that the people benefited unlike the corruptions of Louisiana from reconstruction up to, Huey Long. Minimally as corrupt but, Shared The Wealth. Sharpton, Jackson 1 & 2, Obama make themselves richer. Are the people they claim to represent any, richer? roads, schools, textbooks, etc. Moi
Self enrichment: https://readersupportednews.org/new...neys-halliburton-made-395-billion-on-iraq-war Nobody does that more than do the Republicans.
???? No, I know little about Huey Long. I ought to, though because he is obviously very relevant to today.. The thing is, I believe that American conservatives have been tricked for a long time into supporting an economic agenda that is not in their interests. Although I definitely do not have a 'soak the rich' attitude I do believe that the state can do a lot more that would be good for this country than it does. Trump hinted at this, but does not seem to want to follow through. I keep telling our Leftist friends that, in the South anyway, many cultural conservatives are economic liberals. But most of them are so blinded by middle-class contempt for their social inferiors that they pay no attention.
Wall Street's financing of Marx, Hitler, and Bolsheviks proves that point. The fact that the wars these efforts kill tens of thousands of Americans proves their contempt for the USA.
I've read material trying to prove that 'Wall Street' financed the Bolsheviks, and also the same for Hitler. I've never, anywhere, read anything that said that 'Wall Street' or its mid-19th Century equivalent, financed Karl Marx. He was indeed supported by his comrade and co-thinker Frederick Engels, who became a capitalist, but he and Marx had been radical buddies together when they were still students. Is that what you mean? If not, I'd be really really curious to see your sources. On foreign policy: believe it or not, it's actually the bedrock default position of conservatives that a nation should pursue its national interests, and not be Jacobins trying to export their ideals on the point of a bayonet. Before WWII, this was taken by most people on the Right -- there was not really a 'conservative movement' then -- to mean we should kick around the little Central American country that refused to pay its debts to our bankers, but stay the hell out of European quarrels. Fortunately, people with this policy were not running the US during the 1930s, when it became obvious that there were 'foreign monsters' who might eventually come seeking to destroy us, and so we had to join the other democracies and defeat them. Which we did. Then an even greater foreign monster loomed up after WWII, with apparently world-wide ambitions, and so we got locked into the Cold war and became a strongly militarized nation with a powerful 'military-industrial' complex. Whether some other course were possible is an interesting academic debate and ultimately impossible to resolve. We won the Cold War, and now it's time to re-think what's in American interests. Unfortunately, our massive ship of state has a lot of momentum built up, and many Americans now just take it for granted that, for example, we should be squaring off with Iran and siding with Saudi Arabia in a Shia/Sunni dispute among adherents of the Religion of Peace. Whatever our foreign policy should be, anyone who argues that we should not be armed to the teeth and keeping up with, no, being in the vanguard of, developing military technology, is not going to get a hearing on the Right -- maybe he will among the dope-addled Left -- nor should he. But having a world-class military, and squandering it trying to bring LGBTXYZ rights to Absurdistan are two different questions.
Say It, please a link is a nice reference. Truly, @DennisTate knows I have the ADHD that comes back in old age. Along with reading problems, mostly boredom like recommended videos. I would truly like to know the Obama Family worth '08 and the Obama Family wealth '19! Harry Truman was so poor on retirement from all his Senate - Vice President - President service. It was an act of embarrassment Congress passed him a retirement pension. The Obamas are no Truman. Nor the Clintons. Nor Huey Long But, I balance with services to the people. Compared to Clintons and Obama, Long is a saint. Compared to Truman, Long comes it second. Most importantly as one who History, vs HERstory The benefits of those corrupt leaders should be weighed against their benefits to the people. Free Textbooks. Roads. Taxing Oil Companies pumping Louisiana Oil. During a Passover / Pesach observance I am struck by remembering history in the "first person, present tense". Today their are too many judgements based on Political Correctness, '19. The best of history is to be interpreted in the times such events occurred. Abraham had slaves. Besides marriage, slavery is the oldest form of recognize human relationship. So if Huey Long was Huey Long in 2019 I agree, "boo" "hiss" But, Huey Long in his day and the benefits he created for poor people, And no legacy of Obama, Jackson(s) nor Sharpton can compare for all the wealth they harvested for "the cause". psst, themselves. Yes Sharpton is a con man!
Sincerely No Snark Intended. I hope you study up on Huey Long. Consider at his time, outside a city, living standards were little better than the mid 1800's. Outside the "deep south" the consumer economy most Americans enjoyed, was denied. By Huey Long's Time, you had a very "backward" situation. No doubt recognized by FDR and TVA like projects. The South was in its own realm. Ignored since Reconstruction ended. And certain Interests, such as "Standard Oil" ran the State governments. And here came, Huey Long for the People. He used "power" as was the custom their. But, the custom favored others. Regardless. Enriched Black persons of prominence have done what to "share the wealth" with Black people. No not reparation freebies, A Life In Obama, Jackson(s), Sharpton are thieves of Hope.
I have posted many times the pic from American communist Robert Minor and his assertion that it was Wall Street who bankrolled Marx.
I think you are mistaken here. I saw that rather puzzling cartoon of his, with Wall Street bankers (in 1912) thanking Karl Marx -- probably it was sarcastic and would make sense in the context of the times. But Minor was a revolutionary Marxist, joined and remained a member of the Communist Party until the end of his life. "Wall Street finances communism" is a right-wing, usually anti-Semitic trope, not a left wing one. It makes no sense at all for Minor to make this assertion. But ... suppose he did. What are his sources? I've read a few biographies of Marx and have never found a hint of anything like this.
