Not sure about this particular case, but many times employers use employment agencies and do not direct hire. The employees even pick up their check at the agency and not at the company.

Wrong state, not much union nonsense in MS. The plant manager probably wasn't making much more than $35 an hour. Besides, the cost of living is so low $15 is a good wage for unskilled labor.

A slaughter house that kills 18000 hogs a day employs around 1200 workers killing 320 pound hog with a 65% yield produced over 3 million pounds of meat a day multiple that that by 10 cents is 300k a day. A slaughter house requires someone with a heart beat that is willing to learn to do the one job that needs done every day all day.

Working I a union packing plant and not joining is not a good idea. The union stewards get fairly aggressive with not union workers. That said they are union plants.

Yes, the illegals at the processing had to live somewhere.

None. The question isn’t if anyone they worked with knew they were illegal, it’s if the person who hired them knowingly knew they were when hired. The folks in HR aren’t going to be on the line working with them daily and hanging out with them after work

They knew, everyone knew. It is obvious in small communities when something like this is going on.

There was another company, Howard Industries, that had this happen a few years back.
In that instance the HR director took the fall and ended up serving some time. Rumor has it he is now set for life. I believe the company was only fined a few million, which is nothing for those rich piles of garbage.

They knew simply because...you just know they know??? Hahaha

Yes, we prosecute people that knowingly hire illlegals. How do you know he is “set for life?”

2.5 million was the fine and is a lot of money...not sure what your bank account looks like...

Yup. This discussion has finally deteriorated to the level of Nazi references and cat memes...

    It happens.

I can't say that I do. The only angry screaming white people I know are "progressive" TDS Sufferers.

Speaking of slobbering screaming white people at a trump rally - do you know any of this kind?

Ya know, I think Mark Twain was on to something when he wrote "The rule is perfect: in all matters of opinion our adversaries are insane."

Fine and punish the company until it really hurts them, or in lieu, just allow them to raise wages and hire black and white citizens at a good wage. Let them put that fine money toward good wages.

Because they are the reason that they are coming over... duh.

It's about the money. Make business owners pay for being un-American, and cheating out other American businesses who hire Americans by undercutting through underpaying....

It is as if this is all new to you, how this works.

Well they certainly were living in the USA for sometime, in particular MS, and people in the area were most definitely aware of their presence. It is safe to assume the sheriff in that county looked the other way.

Know is strong word, I should have maybe said suspected or thought. But yes, it was commonly talked about and suspected (and obviously justified).

I don't "know" he is set for life, just the rumors that I've heard. It makes sense though, the owners basically got a slap on the wrist.

And no, 2.5 million is nothing for a privately owned company that size. That is probably less than their operating budget for one day.
