According to the World Bank, if you earn $36,713, you are in the top 1% of income earners in the world today. Many of the top 1% of income earners are obsessed with the less the one percent of people who earn more than them and give no thought to the more then ninety nine percent of people who earn less. One is far less likely to find gratitude among those top 1%ers than among the other 99%.
cost of living plays a role too though that is why some Americans retire overseas or even in Mexico though
Gratitude among the 1%ers? Is that why they whine constantly about being overtaxed and supposed class warfare against them, instead of enjoying and humbly appreciating their wealth that is unprecedented in human history, as well as the system that enabled them to get such wealth?
To be fair, costs of living are a lot lower in other parts of the world, and $36,713 is not bad there. The other reality is that there's a lot more poor people on Earth than a lot of people in White English-speaking / Western European countries realize.
Except that Most of the 'middle class' luxuries that someone who makes 36000 dollars a year enjoys, iPhones, cars, etc actually cost more in those countries. It's cheaper to be a poor person, but more expensive to live the way people think they are entied to here.
Social Security sends 700,000 checks overseas. There are 50,000,000 Americans over 65 by the census, so we're probably talking 1%.of retirees are economic refugees. Probably those who failed to plan.
and your proving my point, it's cheaper to live in places with a lower cost of living... that was my point
cost of living though is much cheaper, can always travel to America, buy your electronics and go back to Mexico I suppose
Its not really that much cheaper if you want to live like an American there. People who make 40,000 a year just don't want to admit they are in the 1%
No they don't that's absurd. If they'd cut government in half and stop taxing so much we could all retire.
I wonder how many are immigrants who only came to America for the money and then bugged out to the old country to cash in?
But if you want to make an accusation, you'll have to supply the names of the Republicans and instances where they have said they want the elderly to work til they die.
Most people in the world don't get to retire, they work til their body can work no more snd since the context of this thread is the world wide population my comnents are true, almost everyone in America is rich beyond the dreams of most.
two 10+ year wars and tax cuts for the rich are not cheap - republicans love to borrow and spend, then whine about having to pay off the credit card
are you saying Republicans are finally admitting Social Security is a good program and do not want to cut it
Yeah. That's one of the factors ,,, including people retiring early ,,, leading me to believe it's about 1%. It appears not to be very significant.
