One of the main arguments Pro-Choicers use in favor of abortion is "What about rape?!" Well, there is an entire site here about the testimonies of real-life people who were conceived in rape. https://www.savethe1.com/ It's a lot harder when you have to go up to someone face-to-face and tell them "You should have been aborted." Many of these people live fulfilling happy successful lives, and in these videos they'll tell you they're glad they weren't aborted. There are many testimonials from rape victims as well, women that chose to give life, despite the circumstances of their impregnation, and who don't love their children any less because of it. Mother who conceived in rape says son "is a reminder that love is always stronger than hate" 10 Celebrities Who Were Conceived By Rape or Bore a Child Out of Rape Portraits of children conceived in rape The voices of rape victims all too-often go unheard. According to Kathleen DeZeeuw, "I, having lived through rape, and also having raised a child conceived in rape, feel personally assaulted and insulted every time I hear that abortion should be legal because of rape and incest. I feel that we're being used by pro-abortionists to further the abortion issue, even though we've not been asked to tell our side." And yes, sometimes there can be challenges...
This one pisses me off. This is personal, and nobody has any business exploiting these situations, or these people to make a political point. I and my former wife were in this exact position. We made a very difficult and complicated choice with ramifications that still have not been fully realized, and we do not expect our decision to be trumpeted as an example of anything. Each circumstance involving rape and the presence of a fetus, is incredibly unique. That is why we need to have all options open to us and enough time and privacy to work through each of them. These women are glad they made theirs, so I am glad they made theirs. Other women choose other paths and while they may not be trumpeting it loudly in front of a camera, for a pro life video, they are just as grateful that they did not have the baby. Options and time to work through them in private! That is the key.
Nobody is saying they should have been aborted, only that the women involved in those situations should have the free and informed choice with the appropriate professional support. Is that any different from the anti-abortionists using them to further their position in the issue and telling women who have conceived through rape that they should be forced to carry to term regardless of their personal physical and psychological circumstances and regardless of their beliefs and opinions?
One hug for you and one for your wife. Peace will come and one day the bad times will be repaid with joy, when you least expect it.
well we divorced about 15 years ago, having nothing to do with this matter. We are at peace with the decision. I let her make it.
LOL! ANOTHER Big "So What " thread...… What is your point? Do you have one? Seems to be pretty UNprofound ..people are different! People feel differently !!!!! OH WOW, look at you discovering the totally obvious !!! Now just how that relates to women retaining their right to their own body, like everyone else has, is really a mystery...
From the post: ""I hear that abortion should be legal because of rape and incest."" Then she is hearing WRONG. Abortion should be legal because women have a right to their own body JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. If she is ill-informed that's on her. She is NOT being "used" by Pro-Choicers, she's obviously being used by those who want to take away her right to her own body. . She is hardly a good spokesperson since she is so wrong. Would she like it if women were FORCED to abort? Well, when they lose the right to their own bodies why not????

"This is personal, and nobody has any business exploiting these situations, or these people to make a political point."
So why should the feelings of those who were forced to have sex be forced onto others? Don't they already know that being denied a choice is wrong?
FoxHastings said: ↑ DO please show where the poster indicated he'd be for "gagging" women?????? Still didn't see any indication he wants women gagged....just not USED.... Now, did you have any important points? Like how one woman's opinion or feelings have NOTHING to do with other woman's opinions or feelings and certainly NOTHING to do with their right to their own bodies.
She can make a choice if she acts IMMEDIATELY after the rape. But it seems that some people, for some reason, think women are entitled to sit around for many weeks and get a late gestation abortion, all because it was a pregnancy resulting from rape. How does this make any sense? Shouldn't a woman who was raped be expected to get an abortion sooner than a woman who was not? Rape is not an excuse to dilly daddle. If she wants to terminate her pregnancy, she needs to do so before the fetus starts growing in there.
Why should the fact that she's a victim enable her to decide later, and kill a fetus she didn't have to kill? You don't want to make an exception for late-term abortions in the case of rape, do you?
And just because your initial claims are blown out of the water doesn't entitle you to make up some random new ones.
No it is exactly as I said, they should put away and not to be heard from. You don't want to hear the stories of the babies that survived and weren't killed by their mothers.
Why do you think women should be put away and not be heard from? Why would I? As I sated clearly : ""..... one woman's opinion or feelings have NOTHING to do with other woman's opinions or feelings and certainly NOTHING to do with their right to their own bodies.""" Do you listen to stories of women who had abortions and were glad they did? Women who were glad they had the freedom and liberty and RIGHTS OTHERS have?
Has it really come to this? Do anti-choice people honestly think that condoning rape to make their case will be effective? Or is that all you folks have left?
Mary told the angel "Be it unto me according to thy word", she gave consent. She didn't try to worm her way out of the pregnancy. Oh geesh, could you imagine what most women in the big cities would say these days?
