There is no fantasy when it comes to self defense, you apparently understand little about the laws surrounding self defense.

In a self defense shooting the primary target is the person making the threat, not other innocents, as such they are not endangered.

Add to that the use of deadly force is clearly defined in the law.

As such you fantasy about lawful self defense is clearly debunked.

We're talking about how to REFORM gun laws, not keep them the same. The Constitution can be amended, or reinterpreted by the SCOTUS.

The supreme court has already been over this. Your proposal is unconstitutional.

No, it can’t be reinterpreted. This is settled
Law. Your only recourse is an amendment which repeals the second. There is nowhere near enough support to do so.

I don't think any of these would make one bit of difference, except to make some people feel better about themselves, that at least they tried. The problem goes much deeper than what tool the terrorist is using.

I guess the mental health checks would be the least harmful, but I don't think they would make a great deal of difference, because if the person has never been diagnosed, they would pass! And many of these perpetrators are probably not mentally ill, just evil.

Stop being silly. You're being purposely obtuse and you know it.

I'm not after the person who directly did the criminal act. i'm after the gun owner who allowed the gun to be stolen or to fall into the wrong hands If you're going to have an inherently dangerous thing it is up to you to protect the rest of us from its misuse.. I though conservatives believed in people being responsible but I guess that only applies to liberals, conservatives are exempt.

None of that has anything to do with Insurance on Guns.

I am not responsible if you commit a felony by breaking into my home and stealing my property, then you use that property to commit another felony. Any such legislation attempting to make me responsible would be very swiftly struck down as unconstitutional.

It has to do with your attempt to “price” people out of being able to exercise a constitutional right. Can’t do that, as the Supreme Court showed you. Arbitrary restrictions are unconstitutional. You can no more require gun owners to have insurance than you can require every american to have religion insurance. ,

Totally incorrect, for the most part liberals wish to disarm law abiding firearm owners while demanding criminals be left alone, just look to New York a few days back and Sanders trying to eliminate bail.

Nothing is ever settled, I don't know how many people will have to die but eventually Americans will get fed up, everyone does sooner or later. I have an idea it will not be pretty for gun owners when they do.

The law is settled. So is Roe. The first case taking these moronic red states to court will have their abortion bans struck down.

The second amendment is not going anywhere. Neither are guns. There are over 400 million guns in circulation in the US.

So if I have a very sharp butcher knife in my kitchen drawer, I should be held responsible if it is stolen and used to harm or kill another person?

    Are you serious?

A sharp knife is NOT an AR15, which is what is being discussed. Perhaps you would like to make a Butcher Knife thread?

Perhaps you get a better idea of the damage deadly weapons can inflict.

Likely, I am as aware as everyone else that a Butcher knife can be used to kill someone.
