What if half of them are violent? Then we have your 'we can't afford to lock them up' argument.

The instant we 'take' someone and 'keep' them somewhere, we become responsible for them- their shelter, food, health, safety. Are you willing to cover that cost?

There's no separate shelters for women?

Why wouldn't they have to raise taxes to pay for it?

You think maybe these people will learn their lesson about violence not being tolerated if they get arrested? These are professional homeless, they will be right back out the next day assaulting another 20 year old girl. You seem determined to view these predators the same as you do your beloved family members.

What else would we do with violent people?

For battered women, yes. Not homeless.

Thank God that my state is 76% state, federal and tribal land. However, we do have a large patch of desert about 100 miles SSW of Phoenix that the homeless are more than welcome to. There's just two obstacles that have to be considered. One is that summer temperatures can reach 120 and second is that this area is known as the Barry M Goldwater Air Force Range. Shock and Awe are a constant here.

Would you be okay if it got bad enough that they were sleeping in your front yard or doorstep?

Im determined only to not increase the wards of the state that I have to help pay for. Anyone who trys to prey on me will be shot. Anyone who doesnt try to prey on me can go in peace.

You'll note that I specified, "if it got bad enough." Are you saying that you would draw the line at public?

Well then we think alike, except I'd run these folks out of town. Thankfully I dont live in Austin, I just have to work here.

So many questions you ask Chris........you give that very bad habit of yours some lofty epithet, intense I think it was.

Face fact. There are homeless people. Always have been and likely always will be.

    What is YOUR solution, Chris?

Not sure what you mean... I will always support property rights. Trespassing should always remain a crime.

Run them out, they always come back. At the end of the day, they have to go somewhere. Anywhere we force them to go will be more expensive than letting them stay on the street.

Shock and awe (technically known as rapid dominance) is a tactic based on the use of overwhelming power and spectacular displays of force.

Which equates to jailing them. Which means you pay more taxes. And I pay more taxes. To which I say: screw you (no personal offense intended, thats just what I say to everyone who wants more of my money).

Alright. What if there was a homeless camp right outside the front of your place?

It is more about safety for the productive citizens and our children than how much money it'll cost, for me anyway. Ship these folks to Mexico for all I care, just don't want to look at them here in Tx anymore.

They would be very peaceful. I don't live in a place where folks tolerate violence.
