The truth about Mexico sending a one-time payment of $5-10 billion? Yup, already read that. Clearly you didn't. But what else is new.

The numerous asylum claims have been attributed to worsening conditions south of Mexico.

Plans don't cover every eventuality. When they look like they need to be changed, then we get TOGETHER and work out acceptable changes.

THAT IS WHY we have congress!

And, drugs aren't being run across the desert by individuals. Almost all the drugs crossing the border with Mexico go through our legal points of entry.

I DID lay it out!!! OVER AND OVER AGAIN I've pointed to the 2013 bipartisan immigration reform bill that not only includes $40B exclusively for the southern border but also includes other means for reducing the number who come - or even WANT to come.

What's up? Why do you ask for something I've already given you on several occasions?

What you "give me" is your opinion. Not news or fact- opinion.

Now there are a great many countries that can look at the USA and say "the grass is greener over there...". That's not a reason to migrate, it's a reason to fertilize and water your own field so your grass will be green too. That is- unless that's too much work, and the people up there where the grass is greener aren't smart enough to shut the gate.

Apparently, the people who wrote the plan we have now weren't smart enough to include that. 22 millions illegals and counting; you would have thought someone would have noticed and realized that is not "immigration".

All these people are coming north for economic reasons. They should be seeking asylum in Mexico.

There are plenty of drugs crossing the unsecured southern border. Let's force them all to attempt entry through check points.

You haven't laid out anything that will stop the illegal crossing at the unsecured southern border. That absolutely must be done before any discussion of how to handle the 10 - 20 million illegals who are already in this country.

You asked for something and I gave it. So, you don't need to keep on asking, right?
The 2013 bipartisan immigration bill addresses that.
Obviously, it IS immigration, so not sure of that point.

YES. Democrats recognized it as a problem and created a bipartisan committee in the Senate to address this issue. There was equal party representation and it was done in committee.

They came up with the bipartisan immigration bill of 2013. They (including Senator Rubio and other senators of both parties) sold it to Republicans in the House (as Republicans were a majority there). The Senate passed the bill. Speaker Boehner(R) blocked the bill from coming to a vote in the House when it would have passed.

That was 2013!!! We would have been 6 YEARS along in spending that $40B on the border and implementing the other methods of ending the influx!!

So, now you know where to place the blame!

AND, you know that our congress is perfectly capable of coming up with a significantly improved solution that addresses the important immigration realities - IF they are allowed to work together toward a bipartisan solution. You know that, because they DID that.

The only viable approach is to secure the southern border and then address the status of the 20 million illegal aliens in the US.

Well, this is absolutely not true. There are multiple reasons for them to be escaping from where they were.

And, please remember that your "wait and see" approach is simply stupid.

The immigration situation has multiple elements. Suggesting we do no more than build some fence is ridiculous.

And, suggesting that we can't change the plan until we don't need to change the plan is obviously just plain ridiculous.

Oh yes we can change it. We can get an agreement with China that we no longer want to partner up with a Chinese company that will steal our tec. and start a company in competition with our companies. I can't believe we have gone along with a stupid agreement like that. It's almost as bad as the agreement we made with Japan to steal our television industry from us. We can't afford to allow China to manipulate her currency on us to get an advantage. China has between 300-500 billion trade surplus over us and is using much of that money to buy up American business and but billions in her military to get a military advantage over us.She wants to be the world's super power. If she gets it, she will flex her strength in the Far East, Taiwan and the S. China Sea. This trade war is costing China with many companies moving out of China, which she can't keep letting it happen. I heard today that China has dropped tariffs of our agriculture products and will again begin buying our soy beans. We have to hold fast on China. it will make us much stronger and create thousands of new jobs. Plus cut the big trade deficit we have with them.

Read the bipartisan bill passed by the Senate in 2013.

It addresses those, and other significant issues as well.

Nothing can be done unless the southern border is secure. That is intrinsically obvious.

We got plenty of help from the USSC now. If any of these people seeking asylum, they have to do it in the first country they come to that will take them in. No more stepping a foot on American soil, asking for asylum and we have to take them in, release them into the country to show up later for a hearing. Which you know few of them will. Finally with the wall going up, the new ruling, we may now be able to get a hand on securing our border. No thank to Democrats.

It does not condition any action on the status of illegal aliens without first securing the border. The reason for first securing the border is obvious.

Who is this "we" you talk about?

Are you suggesting that the US government tells US corporations that they can not do business in China?

Do you think these corporations want to take on a partner to steal their tec and start up a business using their tec to under cut them? We are working for them, not against them

One of the ways to reduce the number entering to get jobs is to do a better job of controlling our hiring practices.

This and other techniques for lowering the number of people coming here to stay are addressed in THE BIPARTISAN IMMIGRATION REFORM BILL OF 2013!

Until you read the bill, you're just spamming.

"We" are the citizens of the United States. We are those citizens who are paying for the $400B that China steals from us every year.

And the best way to eliminate (not reduce) illegal border crossings is to build a wall on the southern border.

I know that the bill does not require the border to be secured first. And that make the bill absurd. It should not have been passed and wasn't.

These corporations know exactly what is being asked of them in China.

I agree that the IDEA Trump is pursuing is to force China to abide by fairer practices. However, I do not believe he is being successful - or even COULD be successful, as he has NEVER been successful at making this kind of progress with a foreign country.

In fact, one of the first things Trump did was to bail out of having a Pacific trade organization that could greatly increase our ability to oppose China in trade negotiations.

We need a president who has some knowledge about how to work with allies and some knowledge about how to make progress on world issues.

Trump absolutely does NOT have that. As a result, he will NOT make progress with China. China is WAY too smart for him.

Trump is playing China like a toy drum. They are hurting much more than we are. The Chinese totalitarian hardliners are slowing trade negotiations down but at their own peril.

How many new democratic voters did they think that $40 B would buy?
    Sponsored by democrats and rino's?

If it was a great bill- it would have passed, right?
Maybe it was Trumps fault. 6 years ago. like tom see a Today solution.
    That actually works.

    NO.

There is NO reason for "securing the border" before implementing a plan to SECURE THE BORDER!

    (good lord!)
