WOW, just how much more will it cost auto makers to produce one vehicle for one state and a different emission style for another..

No the auto makers are planning on doing what California standards are. So blame the automakers.

What are the standards trump wants? How does the oil industry really impacted by his admins policy of wanting one national standard? Cars are gonna be sold regardless. Exxon isn’t going out of business

The only issue is, does the USA set our standards, or does California? I prefer we have a one national standard since autos are sold everywhere

A Californian can buy a different car if they want, then someone from Nebraska or new England

As I posted, many Californians simply remove the smog pumps after the yearly smog check and reinstall them for the next years compliance check.. Hard for some to do you ASK? ;) Well that the nice thing about California and all the little Mexicans willing to do that yearly chore for $50 at your local illegal residential garage and grease pit...

Just another fleece the people scam that Californian have to live with..

We were discussing mileage standards, right? The anti smog crap reduces mileageas far as I know.

Correct. Its a win win for California.. Ever take the time to find how much tax revenue states pull down from fuel sales.. California feeds from both ends of the trough, they bank on fuel sales, smog checks and counter productive guidelines. Smog lowers mileage and they collect more in fuel tax.. Relax smog guidelines and cars perform better, get better mileage and California loses revenue from fuel tax :)

I see how much states and Feds make down every time I fill up one of my two SUV's.

California wants to do it. The automakers want to do it. What's the problem with that?

Do they have anything that will help lower it without taking out more metal and making cars more dangerous in low speed accidents? I mean, the insurance companies must be up in arms. The local undertakers will make money hand over fist. lol

The California government wants to do it which will force all of us to do it and only one US company is willing to go along. The other three are foreign owned.

Then they can do it without mandates placed on other manufacturers

I'm struggling here. I don't see a reason to care what California does.
How will California force us all to do it?
The automakers don't seem to have a problem with building more efficient cars.
I like vehicles that get good mileage.
Sounds like a plan to me.

I said that most fuel efficiency is determined by how you drive. Which is true.

Surely no one concerned about emissions uses AC.

How is California going to make the rest of the country do it?

If the other three want to stay in the market, they'll have to improve efficiency, or as some like to think of it, they'll have to compete.

Man, this thread is sad. I never thought I’d see the day that Americans would be tearing their hair out about cars getting better gas milage or polluting less ... it’s absolutely ***king absurd.

Cus the cost of the vehicles would be artificially & disparately designated. An electric vehicle that should cost 60K is sold for 40K to offset the artificially disinsentivised SUV or truck that should cost 40K but is being sold for 60K. There are many realists / pragmatist (i.e sane people) who consider the lives of those we care about as being more important than the ever fluctuating decade 'snapshots' of the planet having a 'fever' or a 'cold'.

For the record, I prefer having a few tons of steel around me when being T-boned at an intersection by an illegal alien running a red light, (ok so it happened to me x 2 times, lol) just saying... Y'all that care more about sinning against the 'consecrated' planet, by all means wrap yourselves with tin foil / batteries / & bicycle tires as you navigate your loved ones around in your 1,800 pound EV eco death traps... (p.s. be sure to have that elitist, sanctimonious smugness while doing it though, lol)

Something tells me that back when auto makers were being pressured to make their cars safer by making seat belts and anti-lock brakes mandatory -- you would have been the one fighting against it...so spare me the faux concern about safety...

CA legislation is telling the auto makers how to build their product. Trump is in the process of undoing that BS. Keep up please.
