    When Russia said to Turkey:

"...Meanwhile, the Kremlin expects that in its preparations for an operation in northeastern Syria Turkey will proceed from the postulate that the territorial and political integrity of the country must be preserved..."

What Russia meant was that they will not tolerate any ethnic cleansing and genocide to change the demographics of Syria. Can Turkey be trusted? Well they are dependent on Russia.

And then there was the warning from Trump as well.

You guys don't get it. This wasn't "we." No one but Trump made this decision. This was all Trump, after a phone call with Erdogan. He consulted no one but the voices on his head, as usual. He didn't consult the State or Defense departments. He didn't consult anyone. He doesn't listen to advice from our best experts on any topic, because he's convinced that he knows better than anyone.

    His recent tweet on this:

"... if Turkey does anything that I, in my great and unmatched wisdom, consider to be off limits, I will totally destroy and obliterate the Economy of Turkey (I've done before!)."

This is our president. This is what Trumpsters have saddled us with. This is yet another very good reason to demolish the electoral college. The majority of we the people are not like Trump, thank heaven.

I can sum up Donald Trump with his own words, as said to our best and brightest intelligence professionals when the tried to advise him about Kim Jong Un's rocket testing: "I don't care. I believe Putin."

Only problem is, he's still better than what the blue team is offering.

Ordinary Americans are very opposed to the endless wars our political class loves so much. The warmongers have a strange addiction they will just have to break.

Good point and a good reason to consider bringing back the draft.

    The answer is simple.

Whatever else it may be, Trump’s policy toward Turkey is also a significant conflict of interest, as Trump himself has admitted. In 2015, while running for president, Trump gave an interview to Stephen Bannon, not yet his campaign manager, in which he talked about Turkey. Right away, he admitted that his business interests in the country would make it difficult for him to deal with Turkey with a clear mind.

“I have a little conflict of interest ’cause I have a major, major building in Istanbul,” Trump told Bannon during a Breitbart radio show. “It’s a tremendously successful job. It’s called Trump Towers—two towers, instead of one, not the usual one, it’s two.”

That’s no small threat—according to personal financial disclosures filed by Trump, since he launched his bid for the presidency, he has earned somewhere between $3.2 million and $17 million in royalties from the deal. (The amounts are given in ranges; the precise figures are unclear.)

For how long? The Turks and Kurds have been mixing it up since before Columbus discovered America.

Just how long do we have to stay?

Why don't we simply threaten to kick Turkey out of NATO if they even attempt such a thing? Or just kick them out either way as they shouldn't be in NATO which is obvious. Trump did something right in his presidency. One THING which was to get out of Syria, he executed in pretty much the worst way possible but I give him credit.

    excerpt:

Since they erupted a week ago, deadly protests in Iraq have been tracked closely in Iran where they are seen as a plot to undermine ties between the neighbours.

Tehran has close but complicated relations with Baghdad, holding significant clout among its Shiite political groups.

The two countries fought a devastating war from 1980 to 1988 and Iran's influence in Iraq grew after the US-led invasion toppled longtime dictator Saddam Hussein in 2003.

Clashes that broke out in Iraq last week between protesters and security forces have claimed more than 100 lives, and wounded over 6,000 -- most of them demonstrators struck by bullets.

The rallies began on Tuesday with calls to reduce corruption and unemployment but have spiralled into demands for the fall of the government and overhaul of the political system.

A string of Iranian officials have since come out with statements accusing their country's arch-foes of being behind the unrest.

    snip

The official news agency weighed in with its own commentary, accusing the US, Saudi Arabia and Israel of stirring the Iraqi protests in order to spoil Iran's ties with Iraq and Syria.

"Unprecedented protests in Iraqi cities... show that some forces inside and outside of the region are seriously concerned about the closeness and cooperation" of Baghdad, Tehran and Damascus, it added.

Do you think the rebels are better? At least with Assad he was fighting the destablishing elements and the country was relatively stable, ie terrorists. What is your point as Syria is a sovereign nation and us being there is ILLEGAL.

There are six million Syrian refugees in Europe, the US, Turkey, Lebanon and the GCC. They make Syria a problem for us.
