I voted for Johnson last time around and this time I would consider voting either for a Democrat or a qualified sane Republican.
they should be, but sadly they usually are not, hopefully Trump changes that trend and they keep voting going forward
I hate to blaspheme by comparing the Trump Election to 9/11, but we have to Never Forget both catastrophic events... I vote all the time anyway, but I hope the memory of this administration keeps all folks going to the polls for 20 years...
you have to include both... the house had many more seats open, very few in the Senate, in 2020, lot of Republican seats open for the taking
That was my point if you'll look back through this thread. Democrats holding up the 2018 elections as a sign because of the house wins without mentioning the Senate loses
Blaming others for the Fiscal Malfeasance of the GOP says volumes. The Dems were DUPED by the GOP and the Wall Street Casino Bosses and the only shame will be if they CONTINUE to be DUPED by them. The Progressives are the ANTIDOTE to the Fiscal Malfeasance. Choosing to be part of the problem or part of the solution is up to each of us to decide. I have no problem siding with We the People against the GOP and the Wall Street Casino Bosses.
Dems need an 8 point advantage in order to overcome the GOP gerrymandering and voter suppression. Fortunately the Progressives are aware of this deficit and doing something about it so it might be slightly smaller by 2020. In addition to that we have the shrinking Boomer demographic that is working against the GOP. Hillary was disliked because there had been an ongoing SMEAR and HATRED campaign against her for more than a decade. It was surprising that she still did as well as she did given that burden. I doubt that anyone else would have done any better facing the same onslaught. That said it is now the BLOTUS's turn to face a similar onslaught but in his case it is entirely SELF INFLICTED! Unlike Hillary who rose above the hatred the BLOTUS is wallowing in it like he belongs there. Which brings us to your point about the Dem nominee and the Independent voters. I strongly suspect that the Independents opted to support the BLOTUS more out of a LACK of knowledge as to what he would do than anything else. Now they KNOW they are NOT going to support him again IMO. Fool me once, yada, yada, yada! That means that the Dem nominee does not have to be God's Gift to Mankind but simply someone who is sane and normal and has the ability to make a connection with a majority of the electorate. The Independents will consider that to be a reasonable alternative to another 4 years of chaotic delusional behavior in the Oval office. IOW's it will be a no brainer for Independents to vote Dem if the alternative is the BLOTUS.
Think as you may. Another reason Hillary lost was because she ceded the campaign trail to Trump. The word lazy comes to mind. From 1 Sep 2016 through 8 Nov 2016 Trump made 116 campaign visits/stops/appearances/rallies to Hillary's 71. That 71 looks larger than it actually was because it includes fund raisers in deep blue California and New York. In the deciding states, Wisconsin it was Trump five visits, stops, appearances etc. to Hillary's none, zero, nada. Michigan, six for Trump, one for Hillary. Pennsylvania was closer, eight for Trump, five for Hillary. Even in electoral vote rich Florida, Trump held an 13-8 edge over Hillary in campaigning in that state. This led to speculation that there was something physically wrong with Hillary. Whether or not she was sick which prevented her from campaigning as hard as Trump, I don't know. Now the above was huge. Then there was her ho hum campaign and inept campaign strategy. Trump's supporters, a lot fewer of them than what Hillary had, were full of energy and enthusiasm, willing to go to the four corners of the earth for him. Not so with Hillary's, her ho humness rubbed off. There was ample warning about Hillary to the democrats, back in Feb 2016 a poll showed 56% of all Americans wanting the Democrats to nominate someone other than Hillary. Of course all Americans don't choose the Democratic nominee, democrats do. That is their right, no doubt about it. But the warning signs were they very early that Hillary really wasn't wanted by a majority of Americans. The dislike of both major party candidates was very high. 25% of all Americans disliked both major party candidates and didn't want neither one to become the next president. This included 54% of all independents. That showed on election day when 12% of independents voted third party against both Trump and Clinton. https://news.gallup.com/opinion/pol...mericans-dislike-presidential-candidates.aspx
This independent voted for Bill Clinton in 1996 & Obama in 2008. I voted for Clinton because he shifted moderate during the end of his first term. Obama I voted for because it was an historical event. To bad he damaged me on voting Democrat there after. Trump I voted for because the system is broken and he was my protest vote. I'll be voting for Trump in 2020 because the democrats have PROVEN the system is absolutely broken and they will absolutely do anything to retain power. It's absolutely disgusting what I'm seeing. And the only way I'd ever vote democrat again is if Tulsi were ever to get the nod. But again, Tusli is a threat to the Democrat power paradigm so of course, they (the DNC that is) attacks Tulsi as being a Russian stooge.
Anyone with 3 working synapses in their brain can see it's Kavanagh all over again, except this time they found a way to shield the "anonymous whistleblower" yet still get the meme out. People aren't that stupid, some are, most aren't and can see right through the Democrats smear campaign. The Democrats are perilously close to jumping the shark and losing the House in 2020. Good Luck and carry on.
I don't think she was lazy, just unphysical fit for the rigors of the campaign trail. There were states she took for granted she would win anyway and for all intents and purposes ignored. The question I have is where did the $1.2 Billion dollars go if she didn't spend it on the campaign trail? If I was a Democrat voter I'd need to know where all that money went before donating again.
they did not lose the Senate, but they did win the House... biggly and the only reason they did not take the Senate is the seats were not open for the taking like they were in the House and as I said, that changes in 2020, lots of republican seats in the Senate open in 2020
hard to take anyone seriously that says Obama was bad for the country while not also saying Turmp was even worse for the country Trump will do anything to stay in power, even collude with foreign governments.. it's disgusting - Trump is only about Trump, he couldn't care less about America
I was excited to see Obama elected, however his legacy shows that he created a racial rift that was unprecedented! We literally have students ADVOCATING for segregation. Has Obama Widened the Racial Divide? Only 20% of Likely U.S. Voters believe President Obama has brought Americans of different races closer together, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Forty-seven percent (47%) think Obama has driven those of different races further apart instead. Twenty-seven percent (27%) say his words and actions have had no major impact either way. (To see survey question wording, click here.) Literally took 50 years of progress and flushed it down the proverbial toilet. Trump is bad for the country only for the fact he makes the left go bat chit crazy. Watching the left's head explode during the elections results was priceless.
Democrats seem to be Ok with men following their little daughters in to public restrooms, Republicans are not ok with it, and neither are independents. Libs are ok with seizing your money to pay for their idiocy, conservatives are not ok with it, neither are independents. Libs think socialism is a grand idea, ignoring the millions of murdered people and the fact it has NEVER worked anywhere, conservatives hate socialism and so do independents. Libs think the only free speech is their speech and no disagreement is allowed, republicans believe in free speech for everyone, so do independents, Libs think there are 19 genders, republicans and independents know there are two, Hmmm.......do you see a pattern here?
yes, many were upset that we elected a black man to be President, that is not Obama's fault, I blame that on the white nationalists - but yes, Trump benefited from those folks and their votes did help him win the election
This. I voted for Obama in '08, complete with the warm fuzzies that we'd elected the first black President. Imagine my disappointment when he turned around and set race relations back 50 years. At least Trump isn't exacerbating racial problems (his presidency is helping blacks) and he's not endangering law enforcement with his rhetoric either. Obama was such a disappointment.
https://www.rollcall.com/news/two-months-out-10-most-vulnerable-senators "Heitkamp displaces Nevada Sen. Dean Heller, who nevertheless remains the most vulnerable incumbent on the Republican side and the only GOP senator running in a state Hillary Clinton won in 2016. "The Democrats battling for re-election in states that backed President Donald Trump remain among the most vulnerable senators." Democrats were happy they only lost a net of one seat.
John Gibbs wrote a very good article regarding the increasing racial divide under Obama and what spurred much of it. How Obama Left Us More Racially Divided Than Ever You do realize that Trump in his 3 years, has done more for the black community that Obama had done in his entire 8 years?
