    There is more than one article appearing online today outlining how many of our restaurant chains are closing locations or in some cases in bankruptcy court trying to reorganize due to slowing sales.The number and variations in menus came as a surprise to me as they cover pretty much the entire spectrum of our nations restaurants.The following franchise chains are all closing chain locations due to declining customers;
    TGIF Fridays,Sbarro,Carrabbas,Taco Bell,Steak&Shake,Boston Market,Perkins,Marie Callenders,Red Robin,Burger King,OCharleys,IHOP,Applebee's,Friendly's,Ruby Tuesday,Carl's Jr,Quiznos Subs,Kona Grill,Home Town Buffet,Fuddruckers,Luby's,Tim Hortons,McCormick&Schmicks,Roy Rogers,Pizza Hut,Subway,Chilis,R Dubs Buffalo Wild Wings,Hooters,Outback ande Soup Cantatation.
Everyone of these chains is in the process of either downsizing or is or has recently been in bankruptcy court to reorganize.Something one certainly would not expect in a supposedly full employment roaring economy???

maybe people are eating a home more.

could be demographics, bad locations, or average menus, etc.

dinner out is extremely expensive, $30-40 minimum. most meals I can make at home for about the same cost of the tip, just sayin.

we eat out maybe once every two weeks at the most, it's a special treat.

This is an abnormally large number of chains all experiencing problems at this time frame when things are supposedly booming???

The economy really isn’t booming. All of the employment numbers that Trump has been bragging about are the same as when he took office. The stock markets have been mostly stagnant since the Republican tax cuts went into effect 21-1/2 months ago.

Quite possibly, without the tax cuts, plus the massive debt to cover it, the economy would be falling. Personal debt is also quite high. Perhaps people aren’t going out to eat because their credit cards are already maxed out.

Between the city rules and regulations and increasing minimum wage if you aren't a big chain a business that already operates on a paper thin margin gets even thinner real damn fast.

Because they raised Minimum wage in many and now people find it cheaper to make a burger then pay $13 for a $4 item and half a potato :)

I and a buddy went to Old Chicago and had a pizza and two pints a piece and the bill was just under $50 before the ten dollar tip. Hey, I got money! But I damn sure didn't get it pissing it away on stuff like that!

1 segment is not a good indicator of the entire economy. In fact, when the economy is doing well, restaurants have a much harder time hiring.

What is not showing in the employment numbers are the full time employment versus part time. If people are having to work three part time jobs to put food on the table it is NOT good for the economy long term even if it looks good for the employment numbers

Mixed truth. Yes, the economy is largely doing well . . . but basically every trend Trump has taken credit for was a pre-existing trend.

Like when Mr. Obatard took advantage of the U11 million that ran out of unemployment benefits and were ignored and not counted as unemployed :)

Taking credit for a eight year 1.6% Economic growth would go a long way toward a credible debate :)

ya, last sunday the wife & i did a $62 lunch at a sports bar (3 martinis were involved) but jesus I could have eaten lobster and filets at home, I was having a blast until the bill came. then had to tip healthy. service was great!

One more thing to add that is at least for me I don't tend to go to the chain restaurants. so many excellent choices if you look for them. I can make a $11 burger at home for 4, but cant recreate Japanese hibachi, authentic ethnic specialty options, quaint little mom & pop places. a decent gyro, etc.

I cant remember ever getting excited about the idea of a subway or a red Robin, applebees etc. those are places I go when I'm out of better ideas or time and I see the sign.

Damn, you might need to research that just a bit more.. Mr. Obatard worked the same magic with the U-# scheduling..

Sticking to the facts would go much further. Every economic indicator Trump has taken credit for was already on an upward trend before he took office. The only people crediting Trump are those who can't read a graph or who refuse to consult one.

Personally I've never been a fan of the unemployment numbers. how they are calculated, etc. but it is what it is.

going by local/state views around me, things are hopping good. I could have 4 jobs if I wanted them right now and had the time. actually I've been considering a 2nd because things are so active out there right now, lots of opportunities.

Do you think you sound intelligent going on about "Mr. Obatard"? Especially when you are doing little more than peddling hate.

Fact of the matter, Bush drove the economy into the ditch and Obama fixed it. The best Trump has been able to do is ride on Obama's good work.

Trump is a bumbling moron who has really done nothing but dig in on his corrupt ways.

Obama is out of power. Why is he still a threat to conservatives? I can imagine how hard it is for most Trump supporters, after all, a half Black man who is more articulate, more intelligent, more honest than the best they can come up with. It must really blow your world apart.

Ya we do Sushi some times but there is $100 easy! Not that is terribly expensive its that the portions are small and I don't want to leave hungry and then eat someplace else :)

Then again I'm an old school kinda of guy, Black Eyed peas, ham hock and jalapeno/cheese corn bread and three thick sliced of yellow onion, or Lima bean.. When I smoke, I do 5-6 saint louy style ribs and freeze some and strip two for pulled pork, I think its better then shoulder or butt. I make all my breads, and freeze the dough/loaves, buns and such and raise them on the days I eat bread. NOT because I'm a tight ass but because I make better meals then I get at a restaurant..

Sticking to the facts, what matters is that Trump is being credited with a good economy. Whether that's because of him or Obama doesn't matter. What matters is your democrat boyah will lose in 2020 because of that upward trend.

So I think facts matter and you don't care about facts and proudly admit so. Glad we cleared that up. I appreciate your confession.
