by your logic Muslims are Theist, so all Theists are Muslims yes, some Atheists are religious, such as Buddhists, but Atheism in itself is not a religion Theist : just means you believe in a God Atheist : just means you don't
FALSE, Agnosticism is the lack of belief in God, [neo] Atheism is the disbelief in any God. [neo]atheism 'by definition' is a religion. Just like water is wet! Just like spots on a leopard! Just like the sun is hot! Just like the sky is up! Several people have shown you this countless times. Just like neoatheists are in denial.
Atheism means the lack of belief in a god or gods. You of course know that perfectly well, as you’ve been given the definition over 100 times over dozens of threads. Atheism by definition is not a religion, just like not playing baseball isn’t a sport.
Thats bass ackwards. Thats what your logic produces, the use of lack of belief can only apply to agnostics, not atheists, atheists disbelieve. Sorry thats life. The neoatheists logic is subterfuge to hijack agnostic attributes into their little unreasonable, illogical world.
so all you got left is to resort to a red herring by accusing me of believing in a G/god? I accept your concession
well simple statistics there have been thousands of religions and if there is only one true religion than the odds any religion being the true religion is one in three thousand. And that makes the assumption that there actually is a true religion.
except of course atheism meets none of the definitions of religion except your made up one. And no believing their is no god does not meet the criteria of a belief system.
What criteria is that? No one has heard or seen any such criteria, if are you privy to it post it, otherwise it more of the same overactive horntooting imagination we usually see out here. odd that no one to date has provided any support for that imaginative one liner. So you got something new?
No what has not happened is you providing an accepted definition of religion that would include atheism. belief system Word forms: belief systems countable noun [oft with poss] The belief system of a person or society is the set of beliefs that they have about what is right and wrong and what is true and false. ...the belief systems of various ethnic groups. COBUILD Advanced English Dictionary. Copyright © HarperCollins Publishers
what has happened is 1) you claimed [atheism] the criteria has not been met for a belief system 2) You claimed atheism meets none of the definitions of religion You made the claims you support them! Lets hear the definition you accepted to make those claims, or I accept your concession that the atheist agenda is all make belief word salad.
gee Did I not post the definition of “ belief system” and not up to me to prove you made up your definition of religion. The fact that you cannot attribute your definition to an actual source other than yourself is proof enough.
For someone whose posts solely focus on semantics, that accusation of an "word salad" agenda may be the most ironic post on PF. Congrats.
NO matter of fact you did not. Ante up! true, its up to you to post the definition of religion that YOU USED ante up Oh? what do you think is semantic?
I have yet to have any discussion with you, or see any discussion you are involved in, that doesn't revolve around semantic arguments, mostly your arguments about "the" definition of atheism.
religion [ ri-lij-uh n ] || SEE MORE SYNONYMS FOR religion ON THESAURUS.COM noun a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs. a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects: the Christian religion; the Buddhist religion. the body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices: a world council of religions. the life or state of a monk, nun, etc.: to enter religion. the practice of religious beliefs; ritual observance of faith. something one believes in and follows devotedly; a point or matter of ethics or conscience: to make a religion of fighting prejudice.
you need to use your mental capacity to reflect semantic back to the previous statement it refers. Ah didnt see your edit. for the purpose of this discussion reduces to: The belief system of a person is the set of beliefs they have about what is what is true and false. For the proposition: "God exists" You have one or the other, true or false? which is it going to be?
Let's say for the sake of argument that atheism is a belief. That still doesn't make it a BELIEF SYSTEM. Your own definition says SET of beliefs. SET. One belief does not constitute a belief system. And please answer your own question if you are going to pretend there are only two responses despite the fact that you've repeatedly claimed to take neither of those options. "God exists." You have one or the other, true or false? Which is it going to be?
To all intents and purposes they are virtually the same thing since it is the corn syrup used by corporations that is making Americans corpulent.
there are only 2 responses to YOUR question: I know this can get confusing for some people some times But you believe you are an atheist, you believe there is no God, because you believe there is no evidence to prove God exists, because you determined and therefore believe that 'EACH' piece of evidence that has been given to you is insufficient. Thats a hullava lota beliefs right out of the gate that neoatheists try to sweep under the carpet and pretend they dont have. Its a 100% pretense that atheists do not have a belief system to believe in atheism, pure nonsense.
