1. I'll never understand why so many Americans care what others have. Someone being rich and you not being rich have nothing to do with each other. The question should be why aren't lower class Americans able to earn more. 2. Obamacare is garbage. That's why huge swaths of it weren't implemented on time even while Obama was President. Americans use more health care than any country on the planet. The US also has the best outcomes for those who get treatment. Get insurance. If you can't afford it, then cut expenses until you can. If you still can't, then I favor government intervention, but you'll see no sympathy from me for someone who opts to make a $500 monthly car payment instead of paying for health coverage.

The founding tathers were explicit that many rights exist apart from government and the government has no authority to take them away without due process of law. So much wrong here it isn't even funny. 1st the problem is one of psychological in nature not mathematical and I'm not the first to point it out. High taxes and heavy bureaucratic overload, drive money into wealth preservation schemes in the US this enriches money managers. It does this simply by making wealth preservation more profitable than wealth creation. Wealth creation requires you to spend money on productive activities and hiring programmers, machinists, designers and a host of other such activities. This makes for a vibrant skilled middle class. The Chief issue with excessive regulations is they tend to increase the cost of labor in a whole host of ways also driving up the cost of wealth creation. We got through the fifties in spite of a confiscatory border line insane tax policy because of two reasons, 1st we were the only game in town for most of the decade and 2nd most of the current regulatory bureaucracy did not exist and third minimum wage was less than a dollar an hour.
Pursuit of happiness does not guarantee you will ever catch it. Also note the phrase " towards a more perfect union" does not imply it will ever be perfect. The founding fathers did not believe in a utopian ideal.

That's exactly what i just said.. the American government was formed to secure those pre existing rights, it did not create them, it just secures them.. unlike your above example of North Korea. Without a government that values and protects rights and freedoms, people have no rights or freedoms. Women didn't have the right to vote until governments gave them the right to vote. Women in the Western States had the right to vote more than twenty years before women in the Eastern States. Here in Oregon I have the right to grow and smoke marihuana. There are other states that would deny me those rights, even punish me for exercising my rights It is why I prefer to live in liberal oases, I have more rights and freedoms. Liberal police tend to be on the tolerant side, whereas conservative police tend to be strict, even anal.

You said that one has rights independent of government. But without a government to grant them, they are just a fantasy. Even man in the wild, only had as many rights and freedoms as he and his band were able to secure for themselves. I can only have the freedom of leisure because because I live under a government that values my property rights. I don't have to fight off invaders to keep my right to my land. The government gives me the right to have rights. In the wild, the guy with the biggest muscle, usually has more rights than those who are weak. Only a government can give us equal rights. And before some of you go commie on me, equal rights does not mean equal. I grew up athletically competitive. Equal rights is like fair play. Only through fair competition, can the true winners be truly known. There is no honor in cheating, and by denying rights to others, one is cheating at life.
