Be careful about following these kinds of videos. The guy in that video either is being wildly dishonest, or (more likely) wildly wildly wildly bad at logical reasoning. Actually probably a little of both. Most of what he says is pure non-sequitur. To give you a quick summary, here are some main points: 1.) Dawkins is only saying that we are just machines with no higher purpose than to do what we do, ie. replicate. 2.) This is completely different from the things in your life that you find meaning in, whatever makes you feel meaningful, or things that are culturally significant. 3.) Belief systems do not spread and replicate inside of dna nor in the same way as dna 4.) The popularity of a belief system has almost nothing to do with how closely it represents reality. In short, almost nothing that he tries to link together are even remotely related. I don't think anybody could gain anything by watching it. *edit: by the way, I don't mean that one shouldn't engage in other's viewpoints, I just mean that the guy making that video is either trying to exploit the people who watch it, or at the very most is completely worthless. Either way, it's something to be avoided.
If you've decided your god doesn't have to follow logic, then that god is totally alien and unknowable.
Lol, yeah. Exactly. You couldn't even really point to the exact point that video falls apart, it's a jumbled mess from the beginning.
I often wonder if this is a millinial thing. If a lot of it is brought on by harry potter and spider man comics where everyone is chosen and has this grand cosmic purpose created and decided by someone else. Why is it so triggering to face the idea that you aren't special, there is no plan or grand design, you aren't chosen, and that life is just what you make of it? What is the need to manufacture meaning where no sign of it exists in any context? Why not make the most of this life?
I can understand why you wouldn't like being labeled as a racist. I would find that embarrassing as well.
Were your premise correct... ...the question would of course be meaningless, and Hitler would be every bit as obedient to your exhortation as Ghandi. You're welcome.
Well, if it weren't somebody would have produced some evidence to the contrary at some point. Well, it's not meaningless. I just mean don't waste your life hoping for harry potter to take you away to wizard school. And neither of those guys have any bearing on the subject whatsoever.
Well, and the fact that I'm not has something to do with it. Technically speaking, I am an elitist. Meet my qualifications and you're in. Don't, and you're out. Skin color isn't one of those qualifications. IQ is.
Somebody has, and that somebody is you. Of course it is, by your own testimony. As if the concept - or any concept - had meaning in a meaningless universe.
I was talking about you and your jumbled remark. The video is brilliant. Only because you cannot find fault with his analysis do you attack it in a pitiful, disjointed manner. And now enough of you. ciao
IQ is not a measure of inherited, permanent, unvarying intellectual potential. Although it is often discussed as if it is especially by racists. I don't know if your "elitism" is how you rationalized your racism or not but it is only slightly less repugnant.
I haven't read one thing by you that is NOT repugnant. Here's how to deal with people YOU think to be "repugnant". Put them on ignore, as I will do you as soon as I post this message. ciao!
so what do you think the kid in the above video was fed? Supercharged Nitro-methane steroid additives to his baby formula?
ok so whats your point? Poor nutrition? Beethoven wasnt fed Supercharged Nitro-methane steroid additives to his baby formula? Beethoven, by comparison, fell in the middle of the pack, with a score between 135 and 140, or smart enough to join Mensa. Still, I calculated the correlation between estimated IQ and eminence for just these 11 composers to be .54. https://thepsychologist.bps.org.uk › volume-22 › edition-12 › looking-back-...
People literally always say that same thing in defense of pointing out logical fallacies. Since everyone has the same access to the wikipedia list of logical fallacies, I have my doubts about your motives. As far as I can tell though pointing them out is either to try to make yourself feel smart or the other person feel dumb.
