Nobody knew Bethovens IQ. He died hundreds of years before IQ tests existed. The only way to get an IQ score is have a person take an IQ test. Anyone who says they can get an IQ score by looking at papers or writing is selling you a sack of ****. Thats not how it works. Your link doesn't go to a poll, or anything of any value for that matter. I'd beware of getting your facts from blogspot ranting that barely makes sense. It also just doesn't line up with how the over all percentage of atheists and agnostics have increased in the west by any legitimate poll.
1. "Poll" is YOUR word, not mine. You or someone angry and atheist like you demanded to know where this 30% statistic came from. It cam from Pew Research, which survey is shown in that link. So first you demand some data, and when it is provided by a very unbiased and reliable source, you still reject it and claim the "ranting barely makes sense." 2. Just because you don't like the facts and data provided doesn't mean it "barely makes sense." Interpretation is everything and you clearly interpret things the way you want - in the manner that suits your dogma. Leftists are like that.
If there is a survey in that link somewhere, its buried under miles of crack. You don't just get to say pew research said something and not prove it. I'd have to see the survey. It just doesnt seem to line up with reality at all. But like I said, I'd have to see itm
The utterly bogus source was completely debunked in post #84 above. http://politicalforum.com/index.php?threads/atheism-gets-the-darwin-award.559367/page-4 The GROWTH amongst the Unaffiliated is at the expense of theists thereby disproving that nonsensical "30%" allegation.
Gotta watch these neoatheists like a hawk for their agenda driven bs spin: Atheism and its retention rate in individuals In 2012, a Georgetown University study was published indicating that in the United States only about 30 percent of those who grow up in an atheist household remain atheists as adults. "of those raised as atheists, 30% are now affiliated with a Protestant denomination, 10% are Catholic, 2% are Jewish, 1% are Mormon, and 1% are Pagan."[3] https://www.conservapedia.com/Atheism_and_its_retention_rate_in_individuals and the unaffiliated are NOT atheists.
Atheists consider themselves the leaders in enlightened logical, rational and reasoned thinking, looks like its a pipe dream. The RLS surveys more than 35,000 Americans from all 50 states about their religious affiliations, beliefs and practices, and social and political views. Christian 70.6% Atheist 3.1% Pew Research Center, Washington, D.C. https://www.pewforum.org/religious-landscape-study/ Nothing has been debunked here by the neoatheists.
Didn’t point out a logical fallacy pointed out that the poster didn’t understand the meaning of a strawman argument.
"Consensus" is your siren song in neo-Darwinian paradigm, in climate change paradigm. Popular acceptance is fine when it suits your agenda, isn't it. Despite all the crowing by Atheists that their cohort is growing, it's still insignificant. YOUR "measure of validity" is your own claimed intellectual conceit. Leftists everywhere make that their/your mantras.
… In Pew Research Center telephone surveys conducted in 2018 and 2019, 65% of American adults describe themselves as Christians when asked about their religion, down 12 percentage points over the past decade. Meanwhile, the religiously unaffiliated share of the population, consisting of people who describe their religious identity as atheist, agnostic or “nothing in particular,” now stands at 26%, up from 17% in 2009. ... https://www.pewforum.org/2019/10/17/in-u-s-decline-of-christianity-continues-at-rapid-pace/ The great HOAX (religion and the childish fantasy of some creator-god) is being rapidly exposed courtesy of the information age and (delusional) boomers croaking...
there is nothing being exposed, most unaffiliated still believe in God, or they are spiritual which of course means they are neither nones nor atheists. Most are simply not affiliated with a state sanctioned religious organization.
https://www.pewforum.org/2019/10/17...-at-rapid-pace/pf_10-17-19_rdd_update-00-020/ When you do the math Christians are shrinking by 1.08% per year while the Nonaffiliated are GROWING by 0.8% a year per the trend lines in that chart above. That means that in just another 2 decades from now Christians will be down to a mere 43% of the US population while the Nonaffiliated will have risen to 42%. What are Christians doing to alter that NEGATIVE trend? Threads like these are probably not helping Christians.
Define "neo-Darwinian paradigm". "Scientific consensus" in the scientific community regarding a scientific theory is not "popular acceptance". The two terms are as different as a banana and a water molecule.
Sorry to break your heart but nones and unaffiliated mostly believe in God, just are not affiliated with with one of the major religions. Atheists consider themselves the leaders in enlightened logical, rational and reasoned thinking, looks like its a pipe dream. The RLS surveys more than 35,000 Americans from all 50 states about their religious affiliations, beliefs and practices, and social and political views. Anyone else think its funny that Spain invaded Chile to Mexico, to Phillipines supposedly, by the Pope's crusade, to bring all of them to the Cross. America is the mythical refuge of the English Reformed Puritan of My Country Tis of Thee. Russia is a Christian Orthodox 3rd Rome , to be excommunicated by the rest of Orthodoxy to take up a new Byzantine Empire and quintuple their land mass. The British not so much, I assume, why they were such friends with Japan imperialists. Here have some, aircraft carrier blueprints... No pilots? We got pilot trainers. My head explodes. But here we are today, we're exactly 100% sorry about that. We're 100% sorry anyone heard the Truth of Jesus. Why'd Andrew Jackson move those Indians in the Southeast, anyway? Mean to Indians, that don't take European ways, and don't take their God neither? Assume 30% drop religiosity, assume tripled population though. That's how most churches work. 1900's to 1950's 7 million Presbyterians is stable. Eisenhower equated Civil War Presbyterians as Evil, total Evil slavery, for this total gross, mock of all Universal religion, PC(USA). Nowhere, its a sick game. some break of Presbyterian communion. A 2nd Reformation. Since Eisenhower purposefully threw a wrench in the works of international understanding as is the ancient primary job of Christianity, see League of Natinos, now illegal Southern Presbyterianism, less than 2 million any Presbyterian. Ridiculous.
La, la, la, they can't hear you. Only their mocking and ridicule of "fundies" and proclaiming their own intellectual supremacy matters. Don't you know that?
It is prima facie highly implausible that life as we know it is the result of a sequence of physical accidents together with the mechanism of natural selection. My skepticism is not based on religious belief, or on a belief in any definite alternative. It is just a belief that the available scientific evidence, in spite of the consensus of scientific opinion, does not in this matter rationally require us to subordinate the incredulity of common sense. - Thomas Nagel, atheist philosophy professor, New York University
Sounds exactly like cognitive dissonance! Please cite your scientific peer reviewed material evidence such things exist. spir·it·u·al adjective: spiritual 1. relating to or affecting the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things. Supernatural From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Afterlife Animism Communitas Comparative religion Divination Divine language Evolutionary origin of religions Fetishism Great Spirit Henotheism Initiation Liminality Magic Mana Monotheism Polytheism Transtheism Revitalization movement Rite of passage Ritual Sacred dance Sacred language Sacred–profane dichotomy Shamanism Soul dualism Theories about religions Totem Veneration of the dead The concept of the supernatural encompasses anything that is inexplicable by scientific understanding of the laws of nature but nevertheless argued by believers to exist. Examples include immaterial beings such as angels, gods and spirits, and claimed human abilities like magic, telekinesis, precognition and extrasensory perception.
This may sound strange coming from an atheist but I believe religiosity is the normal state of human kind. It has persisted throughout despite it's irrational elements. I have pointed out before it has evolutionary advantages over non-believers which are strengthened community, a social structure with rules/taboos, increases altruistic behavior among non-kin, a way to quell existential angst, a being outside the laws of nature that can give hope and that thing also judges your behavior and you can be punished or rewarded according to that religion. So religion provides a more cohesive, smoother functioning social structure where the participants are more likely to follow the rules and more willing to give of themselves for the good of the community. ...........but I also think we are evolving slowly beyond this tribalism and into what could we call it? Secular humanism?
you already said you do not believe in God(s), but are open too if one comes along, so, no one is saying that if that is not true and you believe in a God, let us know
