How much of an effect will this have on the election? Will young voters respond? Doesn't the Left oppose the influence of billionaires in politics?
Younger generations are overwhelmingly more liberal than their parents, but they don’t bother to vote. If any organization can drive out the millennial vote republicans will need a vast rework of their party platform to remain viable.
Warren and Bernie are going after the young vote hard. either one of them will have millions of the young voting for the first time as they both want to work on student debt and cost of college more than any other candidate. In a general election my belief is that they thing that will push them over in battleground states.
you mean Warren and Bernie are lying to young people.. wealth tax of 100% on every American with more that 50 million dollars will bring in 3 trillion dollars. That's enough for approximately 1 year of her medicare for all program once spent on medicare for all all of that wealth is gone and everyone with 50 million dollars or more has nothing to tax the next year. They tried a wealth tax in France and 40,000 millionaires simply left France.. Taxing the rich is not a solution to any problems to suggest that it is a solution is a LIE!
Young people under 30 for the most part are hopelessly stupid beyond belief, so it might just work for the democrats.
And in reality it would not be a one year thing at the 6% Warren is proposing. But the fact remains it is a tax that slowly taxes away is very basis. If someone has assets that increase in value 4% a year but the government is taxing it's value at 6% year those assets will be worth less and less as they have to be sold off to pay for the tax. And with less wealth out there to tax they have to raise the rate which eats of the value even more. It doesn't work and without it all the Democrat proposals turn to dust.
Why would the right be afraid of voters voting? That's how Trump won.... lol! Hillary won less than 100 total counties in the entire United States! Trump won everything. That's why he's a winner- and you lost!
Yeah that's just her number. And imagine say fantastic guitarist Joe Bonamassa and his unbelievable collection of vintage guitars, the government is going to send in accessors to determine the value and then tax him 6% a year. How long does it take that to make it's way through the court as he challenges it. What if he retires and not longer has the income to cover the cost, the government makes him sell off his property?
A very wealthy person dies and it can take years to probate their estate and come up with the value for taxation.
Imagine, those motivated Young Voters see a hopeless future with College grads doing little better than non college grads and welfare folks living little poorer than working folks (ref.: Jimmy Carter) with taxes and school loan debt - hopeless. Those Young Voters may well figure life out and vote "Conservative". Wouldn't that be a shock to "Progressives". It could happen. Moi No
