Paul was only writing this to placate any Romans reading it. A god didn't choose anyone to rule over us.
lol, so the bible is the word of a God, but some stuff in the bible is not true and was just to placate the Romans? btw, I do agree with you though
imo, Christianity has long been become disconnected from the teachings of Jesus.... who was, fundamentally. a Jew teaching Judaism to Jews who lived 2000 years ago. As such, it would be logically unlikely that the The putative teachings of todays Christianity would conform to what Jesus taught his Jewish followers 2000; years ago.
My thoughts exactly. Christianity is of Pauline conception, adapting Jewish beliefs and Greek philosophy and adding the Jewish preacher.
Thank you for demonstrating the exact issue the OP is all about. Seems you can justify just about any non christian teaching behavior against "others". The fact you do so obliviously is not an excuse.
because Paul was the 12th disciple and taught as Jesus wanted him to and Paul met is the other 11 disciples in Jerusalem and laid before them the gospel he taught and they approved, even Peter who's confession was the Rock on which Jesus said He would build His church.
Only if you consider not automatically allowing migrant families into the country "un-christian". Before it can be determined whether they are actually even real refugees. Conservatives give money to people in other countries. Progressives bring them here so they can make Conservatives pay for them. I suppose they view that as a form of charity.
I think the Gates charity is a public operational charity that raises people up with opportunity rather than a hand out.
Besides wastefully spending huge amounts of money giving a small handful of people educational degrees, what else do they do to help "raise these people up" ?
So what? What did Paul teach that's different from all the others that came before him? If we threw all the writings of Paul out, do you think Christianity would really be any different?
Educating women… providing clean water for a village... giving a woman a couple of goats. You'd just be amazed what a few neighbor ladies can do making antique embroideries or selling jams and preserves.
Reading, writing and arithmetic, well baby practices. Just having a clean water supply nearby can change women's lives dramatically. I am old and I remember when all the children under 2 had malaria. I remember the DDT spraying programs and handing out mosquito netting. I remember when half the population over 60 was blind and everyone had smallpox scars.
No. The premise of atheism is simple: Claim A doesn't exist because there is no evidence to prove Claim A's existence.
You may want to read the fairy tale again. Paul was not the 12th disciple (or the 12th Apostle). Acts 1:20-26 = https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=acts1:20-26&version=CEV;WEB;EXB;WYC Luke 10:1-17 = https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=luke10:1-17&version=CEV;WEB;EXB;WYC
That depends on whether you believe in 'a vision' seen by only one man. Most religions are born on 'visions' to in this way. .So Jesus wanted Paul to use Greek philosophy and adapted Judaism to spread the gospel.? Peter wasn't the Rock on which the Church was built. Paul was.
No, Peter's confession that Jesus was the Christ the Son of God is the rock on which Jesus built His church. The confession is the rock not any man.
RainnWilson missed a step. Jesus is a symbol of individualism. Gun rights, limited govt (that doesnt punish people for the misfortune of others) and resisting the authoritarian collectivism of globalism are the means to protect individualism. Prosperity theology and anti-science are some nice straw-men tossed in for effect, nothing to do with Jesus whatsoever.
Peter was just spewing pure BS because if he had believed that Jesus was the son of God he wouldn't have denied Jesus three times. And when Paul showed up it was like he didn't have a clue as to who the Jesus character was because he bought all of Paul's BS about the Jesus character.
We have no idea what Paul wrote or that he wrote anything at all. The new testament was written a couple hundred years after Paul died.
That's what was written many decades after the death of Jesus in 28-29 CE. Matthew wrote many things that are what he wants people to believe. His nativity story is an example. It is complete nonsense. He simply takes OT prophecies and amends them to make them fit his story. He writes several chapters verbatim when he pens the Sermon on the Mount. He uses the OT for the Beatitudes. Most are found there. And it's more than doubtful that he actually wrote the gospel.
