As a veteran myself, I have to agree. The "war on terror" has been an abysmal failure on every level. A total waste of lives and money. The establishment creatures who started and executed these wars are gigantic frauds. The corporate media that served as a mouthpiece for empire are soulless hucksters and shills. The armchair warriors who cheer for these wars are debased and contemptible. What kind of a sad, sick system could produce such a horrific debacle?
I would agree, mostly, i don't think the war on terror has been a complete waste. I believe it may have been conducted very wastefully but i wouldn't call it a complete waste.
I don't like our tradition of rebuilding our enemies after we break their stuff. I think that if we leave our defeated enemies to rebuild themselves, we'll be more careful about pissing off the whole world with war policies in the first place and rogue countries will be less likely to provoke us. We need to pull some troops home to our borders unless our allies are willing to pay for them and their use is in OUR best interests.
Our biggest mistake in the war on terror was not getting rid of Iran. We should have gone there instead of Iraq
That's been said for years now. Even when Bush was President. Pretty sure that our politicians aren't going to listen.
I thoroughly agree with your post except on one point: the WOT has been a tremendous success from the perspective of government bureaucrats, the military industrial complex and its war profiteers. With the pathetic AUMF driving it, the WOT is comparable to the tale of the Goose That Lays Golden Eggs. More, it advances the Israeli goal of Greater Israel, as written by PNAC, including Perle, Wolfowitz and others. Because Israel controls the Pentagon and Congress, it will never end.
I don't know how you can call it a failure or a waste when it has shut down terrorist organizations and kept the fight on foreign soil, for the most part at least.
I feel that this is a paranoid and unfactual view of the situation. Israel doesn't "control" any aspect of our government, but Israel is deemed an important partner and ally. Economic and strategic interests govern our policies, and Israel just happens to be a big part of this since it is located in such an important part of the world.
The islamic republic of Iran feed of the conflict of the US. Nothing could be worst for the mollah than peace.
Sorry but killing ISIS members protects the homeland and apparently you aren't aware of the United States Coast Guard?
Well convince all our despotic enemies to disarm and pledge to not want to use horrific oppression and violence to try and take over the free world and then we all can. Until then the best defense is a good offense.
Yes most things tend to fall when the prices get up, that's why chinese communist regime is so solid, they bring enough well being to their population compared to the repression they give. French revolution for instance didn't started because people wanted "freedom" or something like that, no the price of bread where to high. The same for russian revolution, and the american revolution was first a revolt against taxes.
The Minnesota air national guard alone could take on Iran if it was on its borders, just driving by a national guard post deep in the heartland of America, the array of battle ready tanks is amazing
The largest terrorist organization in the world is the US Government. With dual citizen Israelis permeating Congress and the Pentagon, the terrorist organization advances Israeli policy. POTUS Trump just declared Jerusalem to be the new capitol of Israel, and Sec State Pompeo just declared all manner of Israeli land grabs to be perfectly legal. Wake up and face reality.
Those fights have involved invading other nations and removing t their govt that was not isis or AQ. So this WOT has been mostly regime change wars . And Libya is now ran by radicals that took over. In Syria we used terrorists to try to do regime change there and didnt want assad and Russia to take out these radicals . The WOT has been used for regime change wars. That is very clear for the fact of our actions proved that in spades. We have created safe havens for those terrorists in this farce called the WOT. As the Saudis finance them and provide the ideology that creates them Regime change wars is not a WOT for god's sake so don't be deceptive . Plus if we fight them over there and kill non terrorists that insures eventually they will kill us here as we saw on 911. And will be financed by some Saudis again.
What are those evil Jooz doing in Congress and the Pentagon? How is the US government a terrorist organization for recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital or easing the official position on Israeli settlements? There are no acts of terror inherent in any of this.
To end war, end it’s cause, Statism. Ayn Rand: “The political expression of altruism is collectivism or statism, which holds that man’s life and work belong to the state—to society, to the group, the gang, the race, the nation—and that the state may dispose of him in any way it pleases for the sake of whatever it deems to be its own tribal, collective good.”—http://aynrandlexicon.com/lexicon/statism.html Ayn Rand: “Wars are the second greatest evil that human societies can perpetrate. (The first is dictatorship, the enslavement of their own citizens, which is the cause of wars.)”—http://aynrandlexicon.com/lexicon/war.html
Both the US government and the Israeli government are terrorists by their actions in many places, mostly Gaza, Syria and other places. The US prefers drone attacks to deliver terror, while the Tel Aviv government prefers other methods.
There was no war on terror, it was a cover up to get rid of Assad. Whenever the Syrian army was defeating the terrorists, their propaganda arm the White Helmets would conduct a false flag attack, so that the Americans could come and bomb Assad's army. The latest lie was that they were protecting Syria's oil from ISIS. At least Donald Trump was honest enough to say he's taking it.
The UN solution for Jerusalem would be the best, except for one problem. Terrorism. Frankly I liked the solution by Trump's son in law, or at least the little I knew of it, but how can it come about unless there's an element of trust - and that doesn't exist. Nor is either side trying to establish trust.
