If respect is not earned, what value does it hold? You left off the part of my post stating that apathy is my default. I don’t respect or disrespect anyone without cause. In most cases apathy is a perfectly acceptable way of interacting with anyone. A man walking down the street that I do not know receives it and the interaction or lack there of goes as expected.
You assume that past accomplishments wouldn’t be taken into consideration when deciding if someone deserves respect. I respect the teaching profession because I know those within it act out of a passion for learning and a desire to better others’ lives. As such teachers have earned respect unless they prove otherwise.
I disrespect, while still being civil, those who cling to the arm of a disgusting and vile man because they seek proximity to wealth. Their past actions lead me to believe they have no integrity and that is not a trait worthy of respect.

Today, Trump donated $100k to help fight opiate addiction. He signed a bill into law that expands access to rehabs earlier this year. He signed the First Step Act, releasing thousands of non-violent prisoners and beginning the reform of the US justice system and rolling back Clinton's racist crack sentencing law.

The media doesn't report on this, and people who don't do their own research, are ignorant about it. So they boo the 1st lady and call Trump a racist.

 

The first step act was signed Dec 21, 2018 almost a year ago so why are you talking about it a year later. Where did I get that information ??????? From the media that Trump lies about and Trump hates.
