all those motor vehicle deaths are far more violent... as well as outnumber most other forms of death... cars are evil...
Japan destroys your silly assertions. Firearms also facilitate honest citizens preventing control freaks from eviscerating our constitutional rights.
I value my freedom rather than the sense of smugness that Gun banners get from restricting our freedom. And those who want to ban honest citizens from being armed-only value the lives of criminals
Whoever said the society of the united states was humane? The argument could easily be made that a society which forces its individuals to continue existing against their will, and holds that the individuals are basically property of the community, is even more inhumane than a society that does not take steps to prevent them from ending their own existence.
Criminalizing legal activities to try and combat instances of suicide does not do anything to make anyone safer as a result.
Alcoholic beverages provide no purpose or benefit in existing, yet they remain legal simply because efforts at prohibiting such made a bad situation even worse. Something does not need to provide a purpose or benefit in existing, in order to be justified or legal. If such had to be the case, no individual would ever be allowed to own more than the bare minimum of what was needed for basic survival.
Sadly people with Severe Depression can not cure themselves of their condition. I have never thought of suicide, but my Depression is Moderate. Sadly I do many unhealthy things -- I eat much deep fried food. I weigh 155 kg.

That is a fascist stance. Fortunately, I have not experienced much anti-Semitism. Sadly, people with Mental Disability are treated terribly in USA. In Third Reich, people with Mental Disability suffered genocide. In USA, people with Mental Disability suffer only Mass Incarceration and public indifference.
George Washington and Thomas Jefferson believed that All Humans have innate values. Even the worst pirates should not be tortured. George Washington and Thomas Jefferson had enormous character flaws, but most their ideas were right.
“No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." - Thomas Jefferson, Virginia Constitution, Draft 1, 1776 "I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery." - Thomas Jefferson, letter to James Madison, January 30, 1787 "A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined..." - George Washington, First Annual Address, to both House of Congress, January 8, 1790
Such is not relevant to the discussion at hand pertaining to the humanity or inhumanity of a given society based upon how it addresses the matter of suicide.
Then the argument could essentially be made, that the actions on the part of yourself amount to a slow attempt at suicide?
Totally false, it is nearly impossible to have a mentaly ill person committed against their will in this country.
