I don't know what you mean by "triumph", but it's clear now that neither party is going to cut spending. Fortunately, our debt-to-GDP ratio isn't insanely high yet, and interest rates are historically low, so we can run these deficits for awhile. But if we hit a patch of high interest rates, it's not going to be pretty.

Once again you prove my point and don’t realize it.

No. I had to look it up. Apparently, it's the title of a book written in 1985.

But back to the deficit, how would you solve the problem?

Read the book and find out. Pay attention to Tip O’Neil’s promise to cut $3 of spending for every $1 of tax increases.

Just give a brief rundown of the programs you would cut and/or taxes you would raise.

This isn't hard. Here, I'll start. If I was in charge, I would:
    Freeze military spending
Repeal Trump Tax Cuts, replace with broad middle-class tax cuts. Increase taxes on individuals making $250,000+ a year.
Confiscate 2% of all billionaire's wealth every year, with the amount growing by 3% per year (e.g., 5%, 8%, 11%).

That wouldn't eliminate the deficit, but it would help, and every year billionaires would pay off our debt a little more.

    So, what's your solution?

His plan didn't save the economy and he EXPLODED the debt. GM is going bust on it's and shrinking as fast as it can, thank you Obama for losing all that taxpayer money on you bailout plan and adding it to the debt.

Are you voting for fiscal conservatives for the Congress or for Democrats? How about President as much as you don't like him are you going to vote for a Warren or a Biden of any of the other higher spenders?

And you base our ability to that and maintain our readiness and ability to respond on what?

It's not revenue it's spending we have not had spending loses and repealing those tax changes could cut investment and growth. You're willing to pay that price?

How? First it would take a constitutional amendment. Then how do you access the wealth of all those persons and when they start having to divest in their investments taking that capital out of the markers what do you think will happen to the economy?

Every year they would have less and less for you to tax and would not bring in near the revenues that Warren and Sanders and others are claiming. Warren grossly overestimates the revenue at $2.75T over TEN YEARS, the current debt is $23T.

"The two looked at the U.S. experience with estate tax data and concluded Warren’s wealth tax would only raise about 40% of the amount estimated by Saez and Zucman. And that’s being “maximally optimistic about the wealth tax’s revenue potential,” Summers and Sarin wrote."

Restrain spending growth with fiscal conservative policies, support Trump's plan to cut all departments by 5%. Make the tax rate permanent and go back to the Bush 15% capgains rate which produced double the tax revenues as the Clinton 29% rate. Keep a moratorium on anti-growth, anti-business regulations. Support the Trump initiative to tighten welfare work requirements. Keep us energy independent. Grow our way back to surplus as we did under Gingrich and Kaisch and almost under Bush43 and then start working on the debt.

None. I said that was my solution. I'm curious what yours is. Why are you hesitant about giving a thumbnail sketch of what you would do to solve the deficit? I thought you cared about this issue. Surely, you have more to say on it than just "read this book".

That’s my advice. Read the book and understand the dishonest inability of Democrats to reduce spending.

Reducing spending on what? Republicans won't reduce spending, either. You want to blame Demcrats for spending being where it is, but Republicans do nothing to cut spending. All they do is cut taxes and grow the deficit and debt while bleating about how Democrats are for higher taxes and more spending (a good combination, as opposed to Republicans' lower taxes and higher spending!).

I'm not sure how me directly refuting your claim, proves your point? Perhaps you can explain that?

No spending can be cut without the conditions I laid out. The Democrats will never cut spending with of course the exception of Bill Clinton.

Higher taxes and more spending is the exact opposite of economic growth policies.

So you have no explanation for how me directly refuting your assertion makes your point. Got it.

My link directly refuted your claim that spending could not be reduced using reconciliation, lol. I challenged you to provide any quote from my link that supported your claim, and you have been running scared ever since. You remain, refuted.
