If you did 57 mph on a major road late/post Bill Clinton’s Arkansas you ended up with loose teeth and ruined shock absorbers.
I agree physical ability is part of the equation. But impressionable minds are also important. The muscle in revolutions and the enforcers of totalitarian regimes are typically very young. And child soldiers were popular in the past for their malleability and still are today. Yeh, those experiments are disturbing. One big takeaway for me is how they demonstrate science has become god-like in its ability to wield authority without question.
Which scares the hell out of me with respect to current and future information warfare and perception management being used by governments against their own population.
Those where the days when the president could do something and not the other party have a hissy fit and judge shop
In MISSISSIPPI in the 1980s you could pop open a beer and wave at a cop while driving away, it was legal then as long as you were not causing a safety hazard.
Yep, those were the times, Many will disagree as I see it, the main reason is it's really profitable selling this stuff.
They pay $16 for a plastic bottle of some kind of special 10,000 year old water (the distributor claims).
I never saw that happen and never heard of open containers ever having been within the law in MS except on boats that were docked or moored.
I just looked it up, jesus in 2016 they still dont.. Mississippi is the only state that doesn't have an open-container law that prohibits drivers or passengers from drinking inside a motor vehicle. And while some counties and cities have passed their own ordinances to ban the practice, Mississippi still has an abnormally high rate of alcohol-related traffic fatalities.Apr 28, 2016 The Awl › 2016/04 › riding-in-cars-... If you are old enough to be sent off to foreign lands to either kill or be killed for your country you are old enough to choose to smoke, vape, drink/buy liquor or have sex. On the other hand 16 is way way way too young to vote and prisoners have forfeited their right to vote and should not be allowed a vote whilst they are in prison.
I used to have a T shirt in the 1980s that read D.A.M.M. Drunks against mad mothers. I was still living at home, I think I wore it a few times, then never seen it since
Damn, you are right. I've always lived in coastal MS, in one or the other of the lower six counties, and everybody said open containers were against the law. Must have been local laws. Ocean Springs just made it legal to walk on the sidewalk with an open container, the city fathers think it will increase tourism.
My uncle was a priest and it freaked me out in the 1980s , he stopped got a 12 pack and handed me a beer and said drink up while he drove us to Memphis. It was weird
We drove the highway by the Mississippi, I still remember it today, it was like a third world country, full of shacks .. The last time I drove west through damn Memphis was in 2012 to Arizona. That place/ roads was still messed up.
You must have been on Hwy 1, or US-61. The Delta just can't catch a break, needs big employers. Memphis is talking about a third bridge, and needs it badly.
Yes, you are wrong. I've heard several say that vaping could be good for your health under certain circumstances. It was the only way that I was finally able to stop smoking so you might say that it saved my life. I'm ok with that line of reasoning. Let's use it consistently. Is it harmful to smoke cigarettes? sure. Is it harmful to vape? Perhaps a little. Is it harmful to eat jelly beans and chocolate? Probably just as much. Has the government separated vaping with nicotine and vaping without nicotine? No. Does nicotine even make a difference? It isn't a carcinogen. If it's harmful, then outlaw tomatoes, peppers, and eggplant. If not, then aren't the "experts" overstepping their boundary? If the problem with vaping the propylene glycol or vegetable glycerin, then why is it ok to make people breathe in the lower grade materials used in fog machines frequently used at school dances and why are those items ok to use in other food products? I've heard the "experts" blame the flavors for enticing kids to vape. Are we then to outlaw good tasting stuff for everything we don't want kids to eat or drink?
The best thing about this law is that any fool who would challenge this law which can only be 18-20 year olds would see their reputation ruined, be attacked ruthlessly on social media witch hunt style and probably lose any job they have since it is universally agreed that the stuff is bad and that 18 year olds are supplying high schoolers.
Vaping is not as bad for your health as smoking, and many have used vaping as a way to quit smoking. The U.S. pretty much has the same in terms of indoor smoking. For the most part, except for some bars, smoking is banned in public indoor places. It's also restricted in many outdoor places to certain areas. Personally, I do agree with the no smoking indoors in public buildings. Why? Because smoke effects those around you. I have no problem with smokeless tobacco being used anywhere, because there is no second-hand smoke.
There is no way to stop alcohol usage. Why? It's extremely simple to make--people in prison can manage to make alcohol. Read about Prohibition and it's failures.
