The above statement ultimately means the number of motor vehicle-related deaths that occur each year in the united states, both accidental and deliberate, are of an acceptable amount since efforts at preventing their deaths would cause more harm than good to society. Meaning some deaths are perfectly acceptable facts of life and should not be worried about.
Simulations. Meaning speculation devoid of any evidence. The last time the matter was consulted, there was no tenant of united states law holding that private individuals who legally carry firearms for their own defense are legally obligated to try and put an end to active shooter situations. Did the supposed "research" by John Donohue find evidence to demonstrate conclusively, beyond reasonable doubt, the supposed increase in violent crimes was directly committed by those who legally carried concealed firearms? Did he find anything to demonstrate those who legally carried firearms were engaging in violent crimes? If not, then the supposed "research" is nothing more than mere speculation and hypothesis.
Millions would die if bad people tried to take guns away from Americans. Democrats can no lo ger say " no one is coming to take your guns" they have tipped their hand, they are coming for our guns.thus making them bad people. To Democrats who do support gun rights.. please take your party back
What "lax" firearm-related restrictions are being referred to on the part of yourself? The absolute prohibition on convicted felons ever using or otherwise possessing a firearm, regardless of the venue they might utilize? The united states has more privately owned firearms than any other nation in the world that might be held up for a comparison. No other nation, be it the nation of Australia, or even the united kingdom as a whole, has possessed even ten percent the number of firearms as the united states hold, and as such has never been forced to deal with the sheer, overwhelming numbers.
Then why did a single motor vehicle in the city of Nice in the nation of France result in a mass killing that exceeded the number of victims in the Las Vegas incident? If motor vehicles are designed purely for transport and not killing, why were eighty five individuals murdered and hundreds more injured in the span of five minutes in a single incident?
The question I think pertinent to this issue is: why do the bad guys with guns tend to commit the vast majority of their badness in urban areas?
Cause they are selling drugs or supporting drug habits.. drug dealers like being near their customers.
Im sure thats true to an extent, but theres plenty of drugs in rural America. Meth and weed in particular. But folks arent shooting eachother over it nearly as much as they do in the cities.
I would guess that. It's a matter of more people = more crime and less competition on the rural area.
There is a simple term for this: abuse! Cars aren't made for killing, but guns are. Have you ever seen a hunter ramming animals with a car? Sure it is possible, but using a rifle is easier and more convenient.
I haven't killed anything with mine - have I used them improperly? Isn't the fact firearms can be used to kill people the very reason our right to own and use them specifically protected by the Constitution?
According to the national homicide monitoring program, the number of homicide incidents involving a firearm decreased by 57% between 1989-90 and 2013-14, from 75 to 32. Firearms were used in 13% of homicide incidents in 2013-14, compared with 24% in 1989-90.[25] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_Australia#Crime_rates Please demonstrate the necessary relationship between the gun laws in Australia and the decline in the rate of murders committed with firearms.
A gun owner doesn't necessarily want to shoot someone right away. The possibility of doing this at some point is much more important to him.
I don't know anything about Australian gun laws. I only suspect that Australian gun laws are stricter than gun laws in the US.
Thats a dodge. If 'intended use' has any realistic meaning, all we have to do is attach the prefix 'target' to all firearms, since then they will be designed for competition instead of, as you claim, killing people. Or, instead, we can stop trying to blame the tool...
If you want competition you can choose between lots of non-deadly games. But a firearm is primarily designed to kill (animals and humans). The psychological effects of guns should not be underestimated either. When you hold a gun in your hand, your physically superior opponent becomes a dwarf.
Btw, loose gun laws have already cost the lives of many police officers. Traffic controls are life-threatening for police officers in countries where everyone can bear firearms.
~ Remember this ... Most often when a firearm is used to stop an assault/crime the weapon is never fired .
