The article is a joke. But what can be expected from the champion of journalistic fraud.

Independent study ??? Why no reference ???

Denying the obvious arson link to these fires is politically expedient for some. Orwell called it Double Think.
When you see the inconvenient truth just instantly pretend to be blind. Especially useful for crooked politicians.

"SYDNEY, AUS. (THECOUNT) — A total of 183 people have been arrested by police in Queensland, NSW, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania for lighting bushfires over the last few months, figures obtained by news agency AAP show.

In New South Wales, 24 people were arrested for arson, risking prison sentences of up to 25 years."

What I don't get is how people can deny it even though it is so bad we can see it. Was watching a video of Indonesia and the change which has happened in the last 20 years due to the now climate emergency. Their home is becoming unliveable. The rich people are building up their land so that the water flows down onto the poor people - the water is sea water. In India where many areas have run out of water, the rich have diverted the course of the water so that it runs to them not the poor who are no longer able to earn a living or grow their own food. Massive increase in suicides....and still we prefer playing war to making the planet liveable for our grandchildren or possible children depending on age.

and that nice paper the Guardian has tonight a story about our seas having warmed the most ever this year and what that means.

    cont'd
    https://www.theguardian.com/environ...it-record-high-as-rate-of-heating-accelerates

I accidentally watched a climate denier video the other night. They were arguing that the research by Mann was compromised by other research which showed the exact opposite and that the whole academic community was ignoring this. It was convincing. However it is not how the academic community work and you do not need Mann anymore. We have history. We know we have Global warming. We know it is causing more extremes in weather, we know it is causing flooding, we know it is causing drought, we know that the sea level is rising and many places will no longer be possible to live in. They have that already in Indonesia. Some of you climate deniers should have a look at that. Just the people telling and showing it as it is. We know the arctic has also had a bad year of warming. We know the west coast of the antartic is now melting. This is about life or death not a place to vent your rage. It is obvious. Use your eyes. It will affect right wingers as much as left wingers as much as centrists. It does not care about your political position. We should be exchanging ideas on how to deal with this. Not continuing to deny a reality which is there for anyone with eyes to see.

What kind of person risks a 25 year jail sentence to star a brush fire?

Yes, it does. I would not have said this thirty years ago, but I'm saying that NOW, in 2020, we should indeed provide abortion services at government expense (up to 26 weeks of pregnancy), and free contraception for everyone, at all times. I'll bet you didn't expect that from an old rock-solid Conservative like me, Bower, but the REAL effects of the human race on this planet (as opposed to the IMAGINED ones) cannot, and should not be denied or disputed.

There were about 3.5 billion people on this planet when I graduated from high school back in the '60's. Today, there are 7.8 billion people -- and by far, most of that 'growth' is in the impoverished 'Third World'. We have to allow people to get help, since they obviously can't control themselves, and we, the 'rich nations' must step up and provide that help -- or face the looming consequences (which truthfully do not have anything to do with the horrible fiction of a 'carbon dioxide monster').

Afterthought: five years ago this month, National Geographic published an article estimating that there was over five TRILLION pieces of plastic trash in the world's ocean: "The numbers are staggering: There are 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic debris in the ocean. Of that mass, 269,000 tons float on the surface, while some four billion plastic microfibers per square kilometer litter the deep sea."

Good grief. The road, for example, is screwed up because the permafrost under it is melting.

LOLsies with extra LOLs on top. The Guardian ... the most flagrant propaganda tome in existence.

Meantime (and for the umpteenth time), no one is denying the damned drought which lead to the scale of the fires. This is about the IGNITION of those fires.

No, there is no evidence that environmentalists started any of these fires.

The member is implying that activists started these fires so that they could blame them on climate change, which of course there is no evidence for.

That's hilarious. The permafrost is located feet beneath ground level. Roads in climates with distinct summers and winters in which the temperature is below freezing heave and buckle all the time. You've been duped.

And do we know that AGW is mostly responsible?

I'm confused. How do the rich (no matter HOW rich) control public water infrastructure?

There ARE no 'climate change deniers.' Only 'AGW deniers' and 'AGW sceptics.' Everyone knows that the climate has changed in at least SOME way.

So far there is no proof that those who believe in man made global warming have set fires, but there is ample evidence that they are likely to have set some of the fires.

A couple times a year within a 50 mile radius of my home on average. It’s usually new seeding alfalfa that had a large percentage of weeds in the bale.

What are you trying to pull with your trojan horse URL? Downloading the book with Google gives them access to all of your contacts. You should ask the forum to take down your message.

There was nothing to do in impeachment until Pelosi gave it the green light. OTOH, Democrats used healthcare as the issue to win the House in 2018.

According to whether global warming is adding to an underlying increase or countering cooling.

We're talking specifically about AGW, not GW.

So when you say that they have spent most time on health, over what period are you referring to?

You wouldn't say that climate change is responsible for that would you?
