Imagine a murderer like Assad talking about enlightenment. He should seek his own enlightenment and repenting for gassing his own civilians. If anyone deserves to be tried on the Hague, it's both Putin and Assad.

We disagree. I don't think it coincidence Reagan had a drastically different and better economy than Carter, or that Trump has a better economy than Obama. Different policies don't get the same results.

IMO, supporters viewing being raised in the eyes of the world as them being afraid of us.
The more we bully, the more they feel we are raised in the eyes of the world.

That is exactly correct. It's like each President having the same armed forces but using completely different ROE's. This is why Trump was so successful and why Obama was not. Besides, Trump was a real businessman who understands real world economics. Obama was a professor and not in the real world at all. Not the real business world, anyway.

I'm sure Hillary stares at it every now and again and wonders how the two of them teamed up to rig an election and still lost.

Trump supporters love trump. I am shocked.

But I thought you wanted to prove that I was somehow hypocritical about Democrats or something.

Assuming only the two facts you put in evidence, are true, and no other relevant facts are missing that may counter your hypothesis, your sample size on which you base your conclusion is exactly two. Ever flip a coin twice and have it end up heads or tails both times?

You don't even have the beginnings of correlation, let alone causation.

One shouldn't underestimate the power of consumer confidence and optimism either. A President can instill confidence and in one moment kill optimism in the economy and the effects are real and tangible.

You must be very impressed with the changes in the dow in the course of a couple of weeks. Very impressed.

I'm not impressed with the derisive ad hominem reply by a PF staff member.

The above post is on topic and addresses the subject being discussed.

Want to try again with a reply in kind?

Nope. Just accurate. Hitler made fun of Rosselvelt and he was our enemy. Does Hitler making fun of our president amuse you as much as Iran making fun of our current one Legal?

What amuses me is your undeniably obvious attempt at spinning the fact that your orange god is being openly mocked by world leaders.

Its the same reply that existed the first time. I know what constitutes an ad hominem reply and what does not. If you think that the president instills confidence or kills optimism in the economy, you must be very impressed with the changes in the dow in the course of a couple of weeks because that is as much as you can prove his 'influence' supplies. You can't prove he impacts jobs, or economic growth, or inflation rates, or wages, or housing starts, or construction, or foreign investment in anything but the most marginal way. You can note that the Dow goes up or down upon his election or his decision to sign a budget bill, or sign a new trade bill, but soon enough other events or other data come out that may play are far more dramatic role even in the Dow.

His influence is marginal in the first years, and it just begins to grow in influence belatedly, often to be measured more after he has left office than before, assuming he remains consistent and tenacious and successful over years of budgets, years of policy objectives, years of appoinments

I will say that I agree with @Labouroflove . The original reply was, at best, too snarky and it was arguably flame baiting. You can clearly make the argument for why "instilling consumer confidence has limitations", as you did here, so just make the argument without trying to piss him off.

The definition for an ad hominem does not have a lot to do, with the emotional response of listener to the argument or the completeness of the argument. I don't care if I piss him off. I did not insult him either directly or indirectly. My point stands.

So you don't want to answer the question.
