it was settled out of court, which means she was okay with the rape as long as she was paid a lot of money. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kobe_Bryant_sexual_assault_case
Or that he was afraid of Presumption of Guilt. Convictions based on accuser's testimony alone have been common since 1990s.
Hmm. I thought I saw that he was IFR rated. I would find it surprising that a helicopter of that description would lack the required instruments. That's a major helicopter! But, I agree with your conclusion. I listened to the tapes of the transmissions between the pilot and air traffic controllers. At least two of the controllers verified with the pilot that he was flying VFR - that is, he was not depending on controllers for direction and altitude. Also, the controllers notified the pilot that he was too low for radar contact. Emergency facilities were not willing to fly a helicopter to find the accident scene due to their own rules on visibility requirements. In other words, he was flying VFR rules, not instrument rules and in conditions where VFR flight was a really bad decision even for emergency flights. Also, the pilot claimed that he was flying at 1400 feet and 1500 feet (two different reports, which is fine). BUT, the ceiling at a local airport was 1100 feet - which would be measured from airport level, not sea level. Still, it seems likely there was little room between the ground and the cloud ceiling in that mountainous area. Plus, reports say there was fog. Finally, the pilot was given directions on a number of occassions concerning passing through that area, requiring the pilot to hover waiting for landing traffic on a nearby airport, requiring him to follow certain highways by ground reference. Looking out the window when trying to fly with little visibility is especially difficult. It looks like the final decent was at a high rate of speed. I'm going to guess that he was flying with little visibility in that mountanious area and not under IFR rules and just lost it. Surely they could have landed on that highway they were following or some field or at the airport they passed and waited.
I've read a lot of comments from people who wished Kobe harm so there could have been one in the area who was jealous of a black guy flying his fancy helicopter over the area and decided to shoot at it the next time he saw it. Imagine if the investigators did find such evidence.
~ Yes ... Although I was in sarcastic humor mode with my comment I agree that anything is possible. However it looks like heavy fog and pilot error seem to be the cause.
You choose not to believe Kobe raped anyone. OJ was found not guilty also. Do you think that is proof that OJ didn't do it? I followed the Kobe rape case and I think he did it.
I don’t follow sports at all. I don’t have the time and I couldn’t care less about sports. That being said, I think this sucks for all those families that lost loved ones in the crash, I wish it didn’t happen. If I could snap my fingers and make it all go away I would. But the level this story has reached is odd. Kobe played basketball, from all accounts, he played really good basketball, obviously in the top few percent of basketball players, I won’t deny him his skill. But he was no General Patton, he was no Louis Pasteur, he was no Thomas Edison, he was no Faraday, he is was no Tesla. He was really good at putting a rock in a hole. Hardly life changing. I don’t understand the celebrity worship here.
Nothing out of the ordinary flying g He was certainly a commercial pilot, while possible I doubt he didn't have an IFR rating. From my reading the flight began under IFR conditions and VFR was requested in route. The flight was close to destination so in a helicopter the request wasn't odd. Perhaps a little premature in hindsight. Guessing, I feel the pilot thought he knew his location. Had he become aware of his navigation error he would have reduced his forward airspeed to a crawl and descend or more appropriately climbed out of his dilemma. In short, I think he was off course and wasn't aware.
Yes, I have questions about that, too. However, I doubt he was "off course" as one doeesn't actually have a course when flying VFR. A pilot flying VFR can change direction/route as long as they don't get in conflict with protected airspace, like around airports. And, a helicopter like that would have moving map showing where one is using gps - like in a car. The problem with climbing is that he didn't have the right to fly without visual reference to the ground. And, to get that, one would need to set up a flight plan and fly visually until air traffic control has radar contact. In those conditions he wasn't likley to be able to do that. He couldn't fly high enough or he'd be in the clouds illegally. Conrollers told him he wasn't on radar. It does seem like he could have declared an emergency. He would definitely get help, but as a commercial pilot I doubt he would avoid a violation. I think he was trying to fly to his Mamba facility in Thousand Oaks. He was following highway 118 and asked if he could cross the approach for Burbank airport and then turn west - which would take him in that direction. There aren't any significant airports near Thousand Oaks, so flying there by IFR would be difficult. IFR flight plans have to terminate at an official FAA waypoint that is in visual flight rules conditions at the minimum altitude of the waypoint. And, to get onto the flight plan he would need to be in visual conditions and in radar contact - both of which would be a big problem. Anyway, he needed to get on the ground. Anywhere. In a field. On the highway.
Okay, to each their own I guess. "It was revealed that she wore underpants containing another man's semen and pubic hair to her rape exam the day after the alleged incident." Nobody is denying they had sex, but he didnt rape her.
I am considering that... I have a signed Shaq Jersey, but not a Kobe. They will be incredibly hard to come by.

Hollywood awards shows make everything their business. To my knowledge Kobe never recorded a hit single. Now if E3, the video games convention, had a moment ot silence that would make sense. I had Kobe Bryant's NBA Courtside on the Nintendo 64, killer game and Kobe actually did something in this industry. RIP Kobe
