I personally think he's their only candidate with any actual enthusiasm behind him. I'm not saying he can or will win but who else has any REAL juice? Klohbcur? Biden? Bloomberg???? I'd argue none of the rest of them. Democrats are free to do whatever they want but I think some paths they may take during this primary may fracture their party beyond repair
Why Warren though what does she bring? If I was Sanders Id think about a more moderate vp like Buttigige or maybe Klohbcur type
Trump wasn't a career politician though? I think what Mello is saying is interesting Bernie's been apart of the "establishment" for decades yet people view him as an outsider. It is an interesting dichotomy to me anyhow
I had not thought about that. I am not sure Buttigieg would. He might tho. Biden wouldn't. MiniMike wouldn't. Yeah, Klobuchar might but she's not socialist enough for Bernie. She did say she was a capitalist. Warren and Bernie seem to get along better than any two of the rest of the field. It would add some to his base. He only has to beat the most popular moderate to win the primary. The moderate base is split four ways.
I honestly think they already know they can't beat Trump. If the dems were smart they would work on trying to keep the House and add to the Senate. By 2024, if ButIjugs is still around they might try him again or run him for Senate (which they should have done this time).
It's because Bernie is a socialist and not a democrat. He signed an oath saying he will run and serve as a democrat for this election. ‘Not a registered Democrat’: Biden attacks Bernie Sanders on party loyalty "Joe Biden took a swipe at Democratic presidential rival Bernie Sanders for being an independent through his 29-year congressional career instead of a Democrat. "I’m a Democrat," Biden, 77, told reporters during a campaign stop at a Dairy Queen in Pella, Iowa, on Thursday when asked about his biggest contrast with Sanders. "He says he’s not. He’s not a registered Democrat, to the best of my knowledge." The Vermont senator has been elected as an independent since first joining the House in 1991, though he caucuses with his Democratic colleagues. Last year, Sanders signed a loyalty pledge to the party that read, "I am a member of the Democratic Party."" https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/...biden-attacks-bernie-sanders-on-party-loyalty
Sanders and Warren are self serving. If they see a chance at the big house I think they will take it.
Thinking on the fly here but this might be all wrong if they have a brokered convention. That would be good too. Sanders would lose if the DNC started playing games with the super delegates.
The one definite takeaway i see is that Klobuchar is toast. She totally lost it when asked about her Mexican gaffe. She didn't handle the original question from the moderator very well, then lost it with Buttigieg. He brought up what committees she is on, and that she should know something about Mexico from that at least. If no one saw the Telemundo interview, she not only couldn't name the president of Mexico, she didn't know jack about any of its politics. It wasn't just "forgetting a name" as she would like us to believe. And she sits on committees that deals with Mexico on a regular basis. Then she asked Buttigieg if he saying she's dumb??? He didn't say she was dumb, by the way, just that she sat on 2 committees dealing with Mexico and didn't have even basic knowledge about the country. Hey, it is what it is. Then Warren tries to defend her and the camera cuts back to Klobuchar and she looks like she about to blow a gasket. Not a good look for someone that wants to be President. So, bye, bye, Amy. Watch the results from Nevada and then see the money dry up. Hell, I bet the money starts drying up before the caucus. Edit: the Telemundo interview.
Agree, but will the DNC let them? I wasn't thinking a brokered convention until I saw how poorly Bloomberg showed.
She can survive that better than Bloomberg can survive MeToo. The American people will forgive her, plus she was the only one that didn't give the village mayor a free pass, that will win her points from folks who don't think he should even be there. The fact there was obvious bias against her doesn't hurt either.
I don't know what bias you're talking about. She just got a big push following the New Hampshire debate. Her polling went up, she placed third and the money started to flow. She turned the spigot off tonight all by herself.
Thank you for the context. Maybe I didn’t pay enough attention to the question. But how the hell do you show up for a Telemundo interview unprepared to talk about mexico???
I always think warren did well, but nothing happens. Bernie has the left flank nailed down. There just isn’t much room for her there. I thought she’d make a good compromise candidate. Bernie’s policies but by someone more establishment friendly.
When she started rambling in response I was thinking: Bloomberg would just say I’m too busy to worry about memorizing some guys name, my aids will tell me when I need to know it.
Yep, and she had 5 days to come up with an answer ...... knowing that someone from Telemundo was going to be a moderator. And she blew it again.
Warren I think, assumed everyone on the stage would agree with her that they all needed to work together to take Trump out. I think maybe she knows now that it was everyone for themselves.
