It was more like a 'drunken brawl', complete with loud, blathering-ass commentary, like NRA arch-enemy, Joe Biden yelling that firearm violence had killed ONE HUNDRED FIFTY MILLON of us since 2007! Hint: the population of the entire United States in 2007 was 301.2 million. Funny how nobody noticed nearly HALF THE POPULATION GETTING KILLED.... Another hint: Joe Biden, is, with all due respect, a FUGGING MORON who ought to go home and do something he might be good at, like enjoying cocaine-induced fantasies with sonny-boy, Hunter.... https://www.foxnews.com/politics/biden-oddly-suggests-150-million-people-killed-by-guns-since-2007
If I had to vote for someone in last nights debate, it would be Bloomberg. He's very smart, steady, accomplished, answered the questions directly, has all of his faculties, is a capitalist, and isn't a nut. I am troubled though by his pandering to black Americans and his animus towards the NRA. Much fire was spit towards the NRA in the debate. But what they aren't acknowledging is that it isn't the NRA in the way of gun blamers, but rather the Constitution itself and facts. The NRA wins in the courts and rightly so.
Did Mike B use a racist photo, a black guy with a pointed pistol to make his point? You did not answer my question though, is skin color the reason one commits more crime? As you were implying. Even though you tried to toss it on Bloomberg. Or is it culture, education, poverty?
In my opinion, crime has exactly one main origin -- the unwillingness of an individual to comply with the laws of the society of the country he/she is in! I don't doubt that there are a hundred other contributing factors, of many different kinds, but either we respect and live by rule of law, or, we choose to break laws and thus, we are "outlaws". I grew up poor and White. I was in a society where there were some who were 'worse-off' than I was, and many more who were much "better-off". We ALL had to live by the same laws in effect where we lived. Most of us understood that... and the ones who didn't, and got caught, were punished, according to the law. Pretty clear-cut and fairly easy to understand... don't you think...? . Example of someone who disagreed: Michael Brown, 2014.
"Tanning" has nothing to do with anything, Dairy, but you already know that. You asked a question, and I answered it sincerely and honestly. Now you're just being silly.... A person either obeys the law of his country or doesn't. There's not much else to consider... and 'tanning', money, the positions of the planets and stars -- none of that has any relevance. It's called "Freedom", Dairy. We have the freedom to be what we want to be, and what we are willing to work toward in this country, at least until the hyperliberal Left finally takes over and ruins everything.... Then you'll have a lawless chaos and total anarchy... will you like that better...?
But you were implying that black people are more inclined to commit violent crimes. I asked if you thought it was because of their skin color. You never, in all your answers, said no. And the question: does skin color make one more criminal? The answer is a simple yes or no. Now that you think getting tan doesn't make one more criminal, it also stands to reason being black skin doesn't make one more criminal.
OK, Dairy, here we go -- a person's skin color does not pronounce, per se, a propensity to commit violent crimes. That said, Black people DO commit more crimes, on a percentage-basis than members of other racial ethnic groups. I'll anticipate your next observation -- "But, White people commit the most crimes overall!" Yes, Dairy, that's true, in terms of total 'tonnage'. White people do make up, by far, the largest racial demographic group in the U. S., at ~72%. Blacks make up ~14%. Please tell me that you "get" this after all....
No, my next point is something I've said already that is really why some commit more crime. Since you and I don't think skin color is the reason. But is culture, poverty, education, and many other reasons. But those 3 are the bigger reasons, IMO.
Boy, I don't want to start chasing hypothetical reasons for crime. As I said, a person either obeys the law or he doesn't. Background reasons for why people commit crimes...? There are probably hundreds of them. Back on topic -- I have gotten this funny feeling that maybe Bernie's going to win the Libocrat nomination after all -- ooh, and then watch the Democrats go to "DEFCON 1" (when the DNC sabotaged his campaign in 2016, they probably were wrenched up to about DEFCON 3, by comparison). I like old Bernie, honestly. Although he had a number of years on me, in the late 60's he and I could have smoked a joint together and shared wine out of a bota bag.... Bloomberg? Sure, I respect his business acumen and his intelligence. Will he win the nomination? I don't see it right now, but things change -- especially if the DNC gets desperate and makes a 'deal' of some kind with Mikey....
Bloomberg is more capable. Therefore, more dangerous. Other than an EO stopping fracking, Bernie would achieve anything he proposes.
WAY too soon to make this call! While Warren and Klobuchar are probably going to drop out after S/Tues I don't see Mayor Pete or Biden backing down. As long as either of those two sticks around Bloomberg will have a hard time beating Bernie IMO.
Actually you are relying on INCOMPLETE data, Cy! Even the FBI acknowledges that their database does not contain crime statistics from every law enforcement agency nationwide. Many rural sheriffs lack the manpower to compile the data the FBI wants and so the crimes committed in those areas are absent from the dataset. A lot of these crimes are white on white and some are never reported because they are handled on a "good old boy" basis instead. There was a scientific study done in Ohio where they compared crime rates in poverty stricken black and white neighborhoods. The crime rates were IDENTICAL! The primary cause of crime is POVERTY! That applies WORLDWIDE! The greater the rate of poverty the greater the rate of crime and vice versa. So do yourself a favor and stop parroting this DIVISIVE white nationalist disinformation that just reflects poorly on yourself. You are a better person than that!
You forgot single parents but yes those 3 are very important. Education also changes the kind of crimes committed, educated people are less likely to be committing petty theft but more likely to be committing fraud. Both educated and uneducated sell drugs but where you are on the chain might change. That's normally more dictated by who's more the alpha male.
I honestly don't know that I'm "a better person", Te, and I am less and less sure about that all the time. In analyzing a thread topic like 'Bernie versus Bloomberg', inevitably the Bloomberg policy of 'stop-and-frisk' comes up for discussion/execration/whatever. And, yes, although I disapprove of much about Bloomberg, I do approve of the idea of putting more on-the-beat policemen where there is a greater concentration of crime -- and, for whatever reason (poverty, or a hundred others), "minority" precincts are where there was/is the greatest concentration of violent crimes. Understanding this sad reality is not in itself "DIVISIVE", Te, and I would submit to you that until we all openly acknowledge and embrace the REALITY of what and where crime is, we won't ever be able to adequately diminish it as a destructive force in our American society. If the greatest concentration of violent crime was in good, old "White, redneck, trailer-trash" neighborhoods, I'd be just as strong an advocate for increased police presence there! This has to do with fighting CRIME, not "racism".... In order ever to have a healthy 'patient', first you have to stop the bleeding... and crime is a wound that bleeds us all. We won't ever bring violent crime down to levels that are 'acceptable' by ignoring it, or rationalizing it, Te.... And, on the other hand, we must avoid our crime-fighting efforts ever being used as justification for the creation of a real police-state, either! It's a delicate balance....
Putting more people in jail has not stopped or really reduced crime. That is putting a bandaid on the issue. To fix any issue, one has to get to root cause and fix the root cause of the problem. Throwing up one's arms and saying, well it's higher proportion in black areas, lets put more LE there hasnt even began to fix the problem. Has it. But it is a convenient way some people to play their race card.
Actually many kinds of crime (but not all) are decreasing, and that's a good thing: https://www.themarshallproject.org/2019/09/30/new-fbi-data-violent-crime-still-falling . I know, it seems like a contradiction, but this news item is fairly recent. Any decrease in crime is welcome... perhaps we can at least agree on that much.
The problem with Stop and Frisk is that it is a violation of individual rights such as privacy and the presumption of innocence so by applauding it you are justifying the creation of a police-state, Cy! Did crime drop during the Clinton administration because he put 100,000 new cops on the streets of America or was it because of the Largest Economic Expansion in the history of the nation that reduced poverty? The decline in poverty and crime predated the announcement and arrival of those extra LEO's. https://www.statista.com/statistics/200463/us-poverty-rate-since-1990/ Perhaps if Bloomberg put his billions to work reducing poverty instead he would be a better candidate but right now Bernie and the Progressives are the only ones focused on the CAUSE of crime.
I got the feeling those that agree with it only supports it in black majority neighborhoods. Some do a lot of dancing about black skin people and their relation to crimes. Not giving much care about poverty, culture, or education.
