MOSCOW -- The Russian parliament approved a sweeping constitutional reform in the third and final reading Wednesday, a move that will allow President Vladimir Putin to stay in power for another 12 years after his current term ends in 2024. Putin, a 67-year-old former KGB officer, has ruled Russia for more than 20 years. A nationwide vote on the proposed amendments is set for April 22. The changes redistribute the executive powers of the Russian government in Moscow and further strengthen the power of the presidency, while also banning same-sex marriage and listing "a belief in God" as one of Russia's traditional values. Read all here: https://www.ctvnews.ca/world/russia-passes-bill-allowing-putin-to-stay-in-power-past-2024-1.4847913 ---- That is comforting news! Putin embodies the calming and peace promoting influence on the unstable and warring world, particularly in the Middle East and Venezuela.
I know! I've seen the photo of a young girl asking Putin to marry her!! Nuts! It just shows that he feels not above mingling with his common people. Overall, the common Russians seem to like him, and rightly so. Never have they had it so good.... not under Stalin, Catherine or Peter the Great. The image from the WWII that German soldiers brought home was that of a poor and primitive life for the peasants. They were still living in cow dung, straw and clay houses. Their infrastructure nonexistent. Now Moscow is supposedly one of the wealthiest, well-kept and safest cities. And hopefully, country life has likewise improved. I wish I was still able to visit that country! My admiration for Putin stems from his calm and calculated entry into the Syrian war: Helping his "partners" fight the terrorists, which were actually being trained and outfitted by the US and Israel. He didn't let on that he knew!! Great move! Also, when one of his planes got shot down, he accepted it as an "accident", thus avoiding a bloody confrontation. By ignoring little temptations he saved the world from plunging into a larger war.
So what Trump's allowed to stay in power until 2024 too. After he tramples slow Joe that is (unless nasty Nancy and shifty Schiff decide to organize another impeachment soap opera.
So Russia isnt a form of democracy. Probably the worst thing to happen to russia. Did the Russian people want this or as it is in the US our reps dont represent the people?
I'm glad you noticed what I've been noticing all along. In addition, Putin's speeches like Lavrov's, were always brilliant and logical, compared to our politicians, who play the Americans for fools by lying continuously.
According to the new constitution of Russia, Putin can run in the next election. Why isn't that a democracy?
Moscow do have a leadership problem, if somehow Putin would die Russia will be in a dire situation. The rooster of leadership there is so poor Putin should groom probable and potential future leaders to prevent future national management crisis.
As expected. @Jeanette you might want to review your posts here, on the previous step of the power grab. Russian government resigns after Putin sets out constitutional shake-up thread http://www.politicalforum.com/index.php?threads/russian-government-resigns.566877/ I hope you feel ashamed.
Russkis are like lemmings....worshipping and fawning over Dear Leader while falling off a cliff. Never had Russkis had it so "good"?? What ....you call 50% of Russki population living at or below poverty line ....having it good? Or 70% of rural Russkis have no toilets or adequate plumbing..."great"? Germans were right about most Russkis living in cowshit, illiterate and primitive. Putinkas calm entry into Syria.....yeah, sure. Drops bombs on hospitals, kids, and old ladies. Some calmness.. No prob.....we control oilfields while Russkis kick up sand and fight with Turks.)
' Vladimir Putin's love for Russia's supersedes everything, so I'm sure he's preparing his country for any eventuality. The new constitution as he presented it, takes away presidential power and gives more to the Duma. It also bans people with dual citizenship from holding office, and limits the president to no more than two successive term. It was the first woman in space; Valentina Tereshkova that wanted to amend it and have no term limits for the president because she said that ordinary people were asking for it. This of course gives Vladimir Putin the chance to run again - thank God. I don't know for sure, but I think the new Constitution will be voted on by the people in April.
"If Putin won and completed two more terms as president, it would make him the ruler of Russia for 36 years -- longer than any other leader in its modern history." Seems that all they did was remove the term limitations. The election process hasn't changed.
Well, he has Medvedev for now. Here are the ten most likely successors to Vladimir Putin: 1. Medvedev Dmitry, (born in 1965), Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation. In 1999-2000, he headed the campaign headquarters of Vladimir Putin. Already was the president of Russia 2008-2012. 2. Rogozin Dmitry, (born in 1963), Deputy Prime Minister in the government of Medvedev, who oversees the issues of the Military Industrial Complex. Since May 2018, heads the "Roskosmos". 3. Kozak Dmitry, (born in 195, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, in charge of everything. 4. Kirienko Sergey, (born in 1962), Hero of Russia (closed Decree 201, General Director of Rosatom, Since October 2016 - 1st Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Russia. 5. Tkachev Alexander, (born in 1960), Minister of Agriculture in the government of Medvedev. Since May 2018, he has been relieved of his post, currently in the government reserve. 6. Andrei Vorobiev, (born in 1970), Moscow Region Governor. The man Shoigu, worked under his authority as his assistant in 2000 (calls Shoigu his godfather in politics). 7. Aleksey Dyumin, (born in 1972), Hero of Russia (closed Decree 2016), Lieutenant-General, at the time of entering the long list of deputy. the head of the GRU, later commander of the Special Operations Forces (RF MTR), deputy. Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation. Since 2016 - the governor of the Tula region. But his main advantage was that he was Putin’s personal adjutant when he was still prime minister in 1999, headed Putin’s personal security service at the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (Presidential Security Service, part of the Federal Guard Service). Putin's man! 8. Sergey Shoigu (born in 1955), Hero of Russia. Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation since 2012. Carried out reforms of the army and defense of Russia. Created the Ministry of Emergency Situations which is very important for the state. 9. Sobyanin Sergey, (born in 1955), Moscow Mayor (appointed by Putin and not by elections). He proved himself as a reformer. He received great financial support from Putin for his new program - the renovation of Moscow. In 2005, Sobyanin was the head of the Presidential Administration instead of Medvedev. 10. Kozhemyako Oleg, (born in 1962), Governor of Primorsky Krai. It has good recommendations. He was already governor in three districts. Kozhemyako playing sports - boxing. https://www.quora.com/Does-Vladimir...-it-was-under-Yeltsin-after-Putins-retirement ..... So there! Lots of capable men to choose from.
Well, it could be worse - 90% could be living under the poverty line or 75% have no toilets!! That was at the time when the Americans still had slaves to empty their bedpans!!! No, that is what the American sponsored terrorists did! “The ISIS R Us”: The War Against America’s ISIS Proxy Force in Syria By South Front Global Research, January 19, 2017 South Front 18 January 2017 Yes, you control AND steal the oil from the M.E. "Trump's plan to seize Iraq's oil: 'It's not stealing, we're reimbursing ourselves' Strategy of taking oil in Iraq and from areas controlled by Isis presents huge issues from almost every angle and ‘would amount to a war crime’, experts say."
And Putin never lies? He did mention making a tsunami bomb to flood the East Coast of the USA. Did he lie with this or is he actually making them? I know he lied to our Prime Minister about fully cooperating with the MH17 enquiry.
Oh then it wasn't that the investigative committee wouldn't accept any information from Russia. Instead it was Russia that wouldn't give that information. But then why did the Russian General appear on TV with the satellite photo of the shoot down showing there was another jet in the sky? Also why weren't the American satellite photos shown?
Jenny.....where's those videos I asked for about "mass riots" throughout Ukraine. Live videos.....in real time? I'm waiting?
If he cared about people, it would have made possible to have Constitutional Amendments only determined by a referendum, but he didn't do that right? Even my corrupted country where I currently live has a constitutional law that any changes to it are only accepted after a referendum. We usually hold all the referendum questions when the European elections come, about 3 referendums per 4 years. How many did Russia have since it stopped being USSR? 0 We all know the decision will not be voted by the people, you don't fool us anymore.
Democracy means more than having a free election. A lot more. One day there will be a world without Russia (as we now know it). I'm looking forward to seeing that world.
Oh, I thought the constitution being voted on by the people is a referendum. Thanks for setting me straight on that.
Putin didn't add referendums as a requirement for constitution changes, it didn't even cross his mind, most likely because of his cultural heritage. That was my point. And if the people will vote on the changes, it is only your hinch, anyway, it is not required. What Russia needed was a Constitution change to empower the people against politicians with too much power such as Putin.
The one world government you envision, will be anything but democratic. It's being created now by psychopaths who have illusions of themselves as a species above others. They could care less how many millions die to form their 'world government' - that's why they're psychopaths. Russia suffered enough with Lenin, Trotsky, Stalin and other 'ideologues' of their nature with the deaths of tens of millions of Christians. There is no way they will ever allow an evil like that to take hold of Russia again. Washington gods Take that you fools of misery, for we are gods of lofty see, and dwellest not like folks below who knowest not, but what we show you, in the media that is - Jeannette
What Russia needed was exactly what Putin put into the Constitution. He's not allowing anyone who has lived in a foreign country for a certain length of time, or who has dual citizenship and therefore dual affinities, to hold office. No doubt this is freaking out Washington with their dreams of a regime change in Russia, so that the criminals can run back in and rob Russia the way they did in the 90's. If we had a law like that, our country might still have the American values and the humanity that made it great
We might not need to wait too long.....Eastern Siberia will be settled by Chinese migration. Khabarovsk & Vladivostok are basically Chinese enclaves from what I hear.
