I say yes, the idea that a corporation can be influenced by an unproven allegation is horrific indeed and perhaps the pinnacle of the #MeToo hysteria.
I think there are two different questions. Whether the specific publisher should publish the book given their professional relationship with other people involved is an open one. Just in practical terms, they can probably only work with one party or the other. The wider question of whether the book should be published at all is different and I don't see the justification for stopping it. Even convicted criminals have published books after all and even if they remain unrepentant, what they write can be informative.
I know the name but never looked him up. Any time I hear the name "Woody Allen" I think of the character "Woody" from Cheers. Loved watching that show....NORM!
wrong on both counts. mia farrow and woody allen were never married and, in fact, never even lived together. soon yi previn was adopted by mia farrow and andre previn back in the seventies. she was never adopted by allen nor, according to all accounts, did allen ever treat her as "his child". you may be freaked out by the age difference or the previous relationship between allen and soon yi's adoptive mother, but in the weird world of hollywood these are the least of the sins of the rich and famous.
Yi previn an Woody had, at this point in time, been married going on for over two decades repeat two decades with children having been raised in the marriage. Somehow it far far pass the time to stop the attacks on both Woody an his family.
for a certain type of person the time for attacks will never end. he is the powerful older man and will always be seen by such people as criminal in even his most innocent actions. every allegation will be taken as gospel and each exoneration will be seen as just another example of the "good ol' boys" network in action. the man is always guilty to such people and the child and/or woman is always believed. does any of this sound familiar?
There was certainly nothing criminal there. I wonder if TC is referring to a different accusation? Me? I am unlikely to read his book but think it should be publishable. A tougher question is when someone is famous because of a crime, and then wants to make money selling the story of the crime they did. We likely would not have had the awesome "Wolf of Wall Street" if we blocked such publications. But if someone commits a violent crime and then publishes a lascivious telling of that story? Sounds wrong.
accusations are a dime a dozen. i've been accused of things that would make your hair curl, but my conscience is clean. the various accusations against allen were long ago deemed not worth following up on and his detractors have used his rather bizarre relationship with soon yi to lend them credence. as for convicted criminals publishing accounts of their crimes.... i'm all for it, as long as the victims or their estates are given a free hand to sue for damages and mitigate the profits for such scumbags.
LOL the victim in this case had been married for some 20 plus years and is sharing a family with Woody. Some people see no problem with taking the rights of women to choose their own life partners away from them. In other word treating women as children that need to be protected even if that protection run against the adult women wishes. In the news a large company who name I can not think of at the moment fired their own very successful CEO for daring to have a willing relationship with another employee. When you protected anyone male or female from their own judgments you are taking their freedom away from then and treating them as children. Somehow the current wife of Bill Gates would likely not be grateful for such protections during the period when the billionaire owner was courting her even those she was at best just a middle manager in his company.
Of course. It's his autobiography. If you aren't interested in it for whatever reason, then don't buy or read it. Furthermore, discrimination is illegal because it would interfere with his right to make a living.
no, the victim here would seem to be woody allen. tried in the court of public opinion in an era where the self-described victim is given an inordinate amount of credence, he was found guilty by a multitude of small minds. the pussyhat brigade, the downtrodden muslim, the poor black american or the illegal immigrant struggling to better himself, each of these has donned the mantle of the underdog and demanded to be taken seriously, no matter how ludicrous their claim. everyone else is the oppressor, no matter who makes the claim or why.
It will be published, sooner or later. https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2020...-woody-allens-axed-book-rt-editor-says-a69595
Well, I guess Woody has had the last laugh and not for the first time; https://www.amazon.com/Apropos-Noth...g&qid=1585259190&sprefix=aprop,aps,220&sr=8-6 Already a bestseller.
Au contraire, with everyone stuck at home and in need of a good laugh I suspect Woody is just the ticket.
There is a really funny?/not funny? "Dedication". The dedication to Woody Allen's new memoir: "For Soon-Yi, the best. I had her eating out of my hand and then I noticed my arm was missing." https://www.showbiz411.com/2020/03/...-drops-it-somewhere-to-avoid-another-disaster
Huh? WHAT are you referring to? Allen and Farrow were never married, and Soon-Yi wasn't "his daughter". What are you talking about?
not sure why he would want to date his daughter, then the other we hear he doesn't even like being photographed with could just be a narcissist thing
