We could be like china: shut down all travel, weld buildings closed, shoot ppl at checkpoints and spray everyone with noxious chemicals, and get this thing under control pronto. But should we?
Sources Clearly a political opinion veiled as a poll. “No reason why they’re doing what they’re doing”. Actual options to choose from.
Thats not a quote from anything in this thread, nor does it seem relevent... What are you talking about? What do you need sources on? What option isn't covered?
I didn't realize any part of it is disputed. What do you need sources on? Let me know and I'll google them for you. What options arent covered?
While you’re at it can you also do a comparison to what other places around the world are doing? As for sources, everything.
I chose China because the WHO organization highly praised China's response to the pandemic. https://news.yahoo.com/chief-praises-chinas-virus-fight-145551598.html This response includes: -shootings at checkpoints https://www.reuters.com/article/us-china-xinjiang-idUSBREA3G0BC20140417 https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-33251572 -welding people into their homes https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/10925668/coronavirus-patients-welded-homes-china/ -spraying people with chemicals https://www.abacusnews.com/tech/cor...nd-disperse-public-gatherings/article/3048687 What political opinion do you think I'm trying to veil with this poll? What options aren't covered in the poll?
This is one of the most ludicrously loaded poll questions and answers I have seen here in a long time None. Let nature take its course. Some. I trust Trump to use dictatorial powers reasonably to save lives. All. If we save even one life, its worth it. Really?
See? Was that so hard? As for veiling? Who knows, not like you didn’t answer the question yourself with Posting the WHO article. As for other options? Different countries
as long as the infringement of liberties is a short time period and specifically targeted to certain areas there is always some trade-off with these sort of things most people are not going to complain, because no one suspects there could be sinister ulterior motives. hopefully quick action can stamp it out.
I might just leave off the loaded sentences. How about none, some or all, without that obviously biased editorial crap that tells us how you want to define what they mean for the person taking the poll
It wasn't hard. Just seems unnecessary. I thought those were all common knowledge by now... What political opinion do you think I'm trying to veil with this poll? Surely you wouldn't have accused me of it unless you knew what you thought I was trying to 'veil'... What options aren't covered in the poll? Everything other countries have done would fit under one of those three very wide categories.
Why add them. The three words, none, some or all freedoms, by themselves completely suffice in distinguishing the amounts ( the how much you purport to want to measure) without the editorial comments. Why turn this into a 'push' poll at all where you attempt to drive the responses? You don't think we know what 'none' 'some' and 'all' mean here?
I would vote none, but only because I dont trust Trump with those types of powers. If it were anyone BUT Trump, I might consider some type of quarantine necessary.
The only people I see violating civil liberties are at the state and local level. Can anyone name one thing Trump has done that is even remotely tyrannical to American citizens?
i think the federal government should have control over what their employees do while on the clock, federal properties and foreign travel to all others they should offer guidelines of what is best. States should have more control over businesses ( closing restaurants and things like that) and should offer specific guidelines that fit the people of that state and travel between states local governments should have some control to deal with the virus in their own communities. all of this is temporary. no government should have any authority to control your behavior in your own home on your property, or traveling to meet your local friends at their properties.
But first we should know who already have the disease so to control it and prevent it from spreading further. There should be a prevention beforehand like using US capabilities and might preventing the entry of the virus from China. It can be controlled because the carriers are all human who's travel are very much documented and known.
We don't have 350M test kits. And we're not going to have 350M test kits. I agree foreign travel should be tightly regulated, but theres already infected walking around in the US, and they are not all going to be tested. So, what to do about it?
Citizenry cooperation they should take responsibility and report if they have the symptoms or if they know they were exposed. They should also do self quarantine to protect people with them specially their respective families.
The Pandemic is deadly to the elderly & physically weak members of our society, & we should definitely do whatever possible to protect them. 1. We should voluntarily limit personal travel to only that necessary for our own survival, unless that travel goes into areas of little to no other humans present. 2. Absolutely not. Just be sensible, & close unnecessary buildings as needed. Keep buildings open that serve a public need during the crisis. 3. Never. There shouldn't have to be checkpoints either, if volunteerism is working. 4. No. That's not necessary, but make hand sanitizer available to everyone for public safety. Working together cooperatively to retard the spread of the virus is a good thing. Having any authority on any level abuse human rights or freedoms unnecessarily, is abusive & should be avoided. Transferring leadership from the states to the federal government would streamline our response & make it more efficient & effective.
