They are tallied by election officials and the results relayed by election officials to central election officials, ballots are then transported by election officials to proper storage and archiving.
We need to bring our entire election process into the 21st. century and computerise it 100% so that people can vote from home on either a PC or a Smart Phone.Get rid of all the antiquated easily hacked early 20th century machines.Locate one CPU large scale computer with a backup CPU running in parallel in case it should go down. Program it so that all 50 states plus any territories that can vote each have their own region and ballot to accommodate local issues can be brought up and shut down by the individual states. Each state can have it's own password to bring up it's region at their appropriate designated polling hours and shut it down at poll closing time. Every state will need to have an up to date voter registration roll with an address lookup and other security feature so as to prevent unregistered voters from voting. A one time expenditure which would modernize and eliminate constant purchases of oudated antique voting machines, would save money in the long run. It would also guarantee much higher citizen voter participation.
Democrats running California already have: Illegals Voting Vote Harvesting tons of people on the voter rolls that should not be there Voting for weeks prior to the election We want to trust them with mail in voting? You will never have anything but a Democratic Party House, Senate, and Presidency, just like we have 100% domination of Democrats here in California. Often, for some offices a Republican is not even allowed onto the ballot, because the Democrats run shadow candidates to dilute to vote, so Republicans don't qualify for November Elections. That is what is coming nationwide if Democrats have their way.
How about we postpone any and all elections until a vaccine for Covid 19 has been developed? Trump can remain President until then. If that were to happen the Dems would get on the stick for a vaccine and push their billionaire donors for funding.
It's not an either or. I trust myself casting my ballot into the voting machine. That chain of custody thing.
Vote-by-mail has worked very well for us in Colorado for a number of years -- long before anybody was getting ampted-up over the many different viruses which kill many more Americans routinely, every year than this Coronavirus has.... For those who don't trust the mail, or are too cheap to pay the postage, there are drop-off boxes throughout the towns and cities where you don't have to pay a penny. I would be far more suspicious of voting-by-computer than I would voting-by-mail.... Besides, if we went to a 'computerized' voting system, the ACLU would raise hell and sue the government saying that not all poor people have computers, and that the United States would have to buy EVERYBODY an ACLU-approved computer in order for the country to switch to a computerized voting system. Sound about right...?
How about vote by internet, if we are going to skip the idea that one should be able to prove they are eligible to vote. After all, I've been contributing to some fund for many years so that everyone would have access to the internet, so it would also eliminate that 'but they can't get to a voting place' that I hear periodically. For those that need to be told, I was being facetious. If a person cannot find it within themselves to expend a little energy to do something as important as vote, then they get exactly what they 'pay' for.
Yeah, until someone enters their soc and a message pops up saying "Sorry, this SS# has already been used to vote." Then what?
Voting by mail is even more antiquated than our present early 20th century equipment. With a main Frame CPU running our election ballots cast vote count will be updated instantly as they are cast, we would know as soon as the last state closed it's polling hours exactly who had won the election and by how much. No collecting ballots or lost ballots or altered ballots. Something our politicians do not want nice clean uncorrupt elections.
Should we be waiting until October to get this sorted? What if voting stations are not open in November? A little preparation is not a bad thing...is it?
Voting by mail is just asking for corruption. Major, big corruption. If Pelosi wants mail-in votes, then I don't see how we can have any assurance that the election results are real. Of course, the Post Office is already being trusted to carry mail containing personal information and credit cards. So we might be able to eek-out just this once for this election and only just because of the coronavirus.
Well I would hope that not every government program run over the internet doesn't run as poorly as the Obamacare website... But you never know.
We are so hung up on technology. I think we should go back to pencil and paper ballots. They are simply immune to hackers and equipment failures.
Too easy to stuff the ballot box. Approx. 153,424 people in California die each day. Now imagine a family member voting for them after they pass on. 153,424 X 365 = 55,999,760 votes. My Dad passed in 2008, his ballots kept coming till 2016.
